    Ahhh, a bait and switch. Apparently, pod people have switched the appearance of wuertz and eyre to hurt us. Oh god... he was out.

    I dont know if you're being serious or not, but if you are, then if we got a crappy prospect at least we could let him waste away in the minors as opposed to paying him 4 million dollars to watch him fail time after time. Not to mention the fact that we would no longer have to listen to clueless people prattle on about what an asset he is.

    We traded a future HOF'er for him. Sad. I'm pretty happy with our rotation's performance outside of Zambrano. Maddux would have only taken up space and salary. Maddux for prospects on the other hand... I don't buy we gave up a HOF talk but Hendry got shafted. Not only did he give up Maddux but he acquired and overrated, worthless SS who also was expensive. Essentially, Hendry added salary by adding the worthless bum. Don't forget that we gave them some cash too.

Maddux for prospects on the other hand... I would have liked to get Matt Kemp or Andre Ethier for him. If you believe the rumors, they weren't really available. I would have thrown in the necessary prospects along with Maddux to get one of those guys, though.

    No manager is going to pinch hit for his starting SS in the 4th inning, regardless of the situation. Earl Weaver pinch hit for Mark Belanger in the first once, IIRC. At any rate, how about the 6th inning down by three with a runner on second? Mind you, DeRosa is on the bench, and Theriot can move over to SS. For that matter, why is Izzy even in the freaking lineup?

    WHY WHY WHY????????? Izturis isn't plus on defense anymore, and I legitimately think there's a dozen posters here who could hit better than him. So why on earth does he keep playing?

    Saying someone is on steroids just because he's having a big year is about as old as Julio Franco. He is murdering every number he has ever put up and it is barely june. He could just be Benito Santiagoing. Wasn't that steroids too? No, just a freak year in the HR column. Actually, I wanna say he was implicated in the Grimsley scandal. I thought Canseco dropped his name as well, but it has been a few years since I read that book. I think you could be right on that one as well.

    They don't have a choice. The Cubs next off day is 6/18 and their short. Eyre up in the 'pen means they are willing to sacrifice this game. Which is why it hurts having a billion outfielders on the team. Or we could just can Scott Eyre and replace him with a real long reliever.

    So far tonight Trammel has ordered a sac bunt from Pie in the first inning, and left Cesar Izturis in to bat with the bases juiced and two outs against a struggling pitcher in a crucial situation. Honeymoon = over

    Cesar Izturis should never be allowed to carry a bat to the plate in crucial situations... even if he's just giving Aramis a new one after a broken bat foul ball.

    I seem to recall a few years ago when Matt Clement was pitching against Alex Cora for 14 pitches. That went much quicker.

    yup Good god... Trammell now makes me miss Lou, who almost makes me miss Dusty. This is sad. Why can't we get a competant manager?
