  1. Are Cubs players ever really just day to day? Vin Scully said this back in 91. "Andre Dawson has a bruised knee and is listed as day-to-day (pause). Aren't we all?"
  2. No. Why not, he always gets on a base. Soriano doesn't get hot til late in the game. you are confusing me. Pie gets hits early in the game. Soriano waits til late in the game to get his hits. At least that is what I have noticed. I would rather have Pie in the leadoff spot. For his career, Soriano hits: .297/.350/.527 in innings 1-3 .282/.326/.538 in innings 4-6 .281/.331/.476 in innings 7-9 What is Pie hitting? .316/.316/.421 in innings 1-3 .438/.438/.875 in innings 4-6 .077/.111/.077 in innings 7-9 Then again, Pie only has about 20 PA in each slot, so you can't take too much from his numbers. Uh-oh. Looks like he may be ANTI-CLUTCH. Jeromy Burnitz all over again. Pie gets sick during innings 7-9. Well a lot of that is coming in to PH against a team's best relievers... it's hardly unexpected for a rookie to struggle in that situation.
  3. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy... unfortunately he was more suited to giving ballpark tours than playing ball.

  6. Who do we have that can play the infield, besides who's playing now? Barrett could move to 3B for a while in an emergency, same with Soriano to 2B, but I don't see either happening.
  7. The first time that sentence has ever been used in history Macier Izturis has 2 AB out of the cleanup spot.
  8. No. He doesn't get on base that much and his power would be less useful out of the leadoff spot. And not even to dignify talk of his speed being useful there, but he doesn't steal bases at a good enough rate that we should be sending him at all.
  9. None of us care about your health. EAT! I'm out of nuggets, and I only have about $200 on me. I don't know how many nuggets that buys... It buys enough for you to eat us to a division title. FWIW, I will be buying nuggets before each game until we lose. Are they Wendy's nuggets? Those are the best. Yeah, they are... but I got out of class just as the game was starting and McDonalds was much much closer. Edit: That was worded badly. Wendy's nuggets = best, but I have McD's.
  10. From everything I've read he's going to be a 15-20 homer guy when he's going right. Someone with more knowledge can correct me though. That's low end. He's more like a 20-25 guy, who could have a couple flukey seasons north of 30.

  12. Somehow, I don't give Trammell credit for this one. Who else could have put the ball over the fence with telekinesis?

  14. That entire rally started the second I started eating the chicken nuggets I got on the way home. I hope we keep this up, cause I don't wanna have to go buy more to facilitate another rally.
  15. FWIW, I'm pretty sure the thread started in here and got moved out later.
  16. While I am excited to see Gallagher pitch again, I am quite pissed it comes at the expense of Gooz. At least jerking a fragile pitcher between the bullpen and the rotation was a smart idea at the time.
  17. No manager is going to pinch hit for his starting SS in the 4th inning, regardless of the situation. Earl Weaver pinch hit for Mark Belanger in the first once, IIRC. At any rate, how about the 6th inning down by three with a runner on second? Mind you, DeRosa is on the bench, and Theriot can move over to SS. For that matter, why is Izzy even in the freaking lineup? Isn't Lou still making out the lineups before the game? Anyway, are we now going to hound each and every decision a manager makes, waiting to play the "he sucks" card when we find one that isn't the absolute statistically perfect move? Did I say he sucks? I said the honeymoon was over. Compared to the other managers, Trammel did just fine... though the bar is set pretty low for that.
  18. Yeah, and I wouldn't think twice about it.
  19. As bad as Lilly was, that insurance run off of Wuertz was huge. Nice catch Sori! Considering our interim manager's small ball style, I'd almost rather be down by 2 than one... it gives him less of a chance to actively give away our outs.
  20. Hey hey! I wonder if DeRosa coulda done that in one of the situations Izturis was in earlier.
  21. Watch the language or be banned quickly.
  22. The best move would have been to start DeRosa and Theriot.
