    Any of Wieters, Vitters, or Heyward would be fine by me... and I'd probably be able to live with Moustakas. I am really hesitant to grab an arm that early, though... unless Price slips, of course.

    I sure as hell hope not. The last thing the Cubs need is another oft-injured, over-the-hill pitcher who is miscast as anything other than a middle reliever at this point in his career.

    Thank God. With Yeti passing word we should have been expecting a trade within 24 hours, Barrett sitting out yesterday, and the rumor of a "mystery team" in the bidding for Benitez, I was really bloody worried we were gonna do something stupid like trade Barrett for Benitez... at which point I would have mailed my first death threat.

    I'm all for a fire sale, but if you trade all of those guys (the only one I can understand is Zambrano), then you're guaranteed of not winning anything for at least the next 10 years. Yeah, like it took the Marlins 10 years to win another World Series. Not that the firesale helped all that much. IIRC, the only thing they got in return during the first firesale that actually helped in 2003 was DLee.

    Age? Vitters may be younger, but he's also further from the bigleagues, probably by a couple of years. I'd say age is basically a wash. It wasn't really a question; I was just being a smartass.

    Freaking Insight communications wont be selling the EI package cause they don't want to have to carry that MLB Channel. :evil: I hate the thought of going to dish after I get a job, but I'm not gonna put up with this subpar crap. I should at least have the choice of whether or not I want to throw $150 their way.

    Cause playing for a single run when it's a tie in the top of the 9th is a horrible idea? How do you figure? There was a study on BP about a year back about how to best leverage sac bunts. Home teams can use them to pad small leads in later innings or to break ties, but it's really a bad idea for the visiting team to use them unless they're already sporting a lead and just tacking on that 3rd or 4th run. Earl Weaver used to say "don't play for one run unless you're sure that run will win you the ballgame." While that might not have been strictly true, playing for a single run in the top of 9 isn't a good idea when we don't know if the home team is going to be able to score 2.
