  1. "Mental midget" seems like a bit much for one of our best starters last season.
  2. He has absolutely no control over his fastball.
  3. That's asinine. Why would you give away outs against one of the best pitchers in baseball? 37.5% of the runs scored against Joe Nathan came on home runs. How do you think that compares to league average?
  4. Isn't that exactly why you should buy it? Apparently, Hendry and Lou place an emphasis on the strategic value of making the other team go "FTH are they thinking?"
  5. The White Sox won in 2005 in spite of the Lee - Podsednik swap... not because of it.
  6. His ERA had just dropped down to 8.50... we all saw it coming.
  7. Pat and Ron are talking like Blanco missed the sign. He tried bunting through the whole at bat. If he had missed the sign, Quade probably would have yelled at him after the first 2-3 times he showed bunt.
  8. As well as Lee has been hitting, he probably figured Derrek would put the bat on the ball. I don't particularly care what Lou's rationale is. This team is better off if we never attempt a hit and run all season. Lou really needs to stop calling for a few each game. With an ump using a tight strike zone and pitchers throwing so many balls it's foolish to hit and run. You don't really need that qualifier at the beginning, IMO. It's a good strategy if used correctly. There is never a good time for a hit and run. Now if you want to change it to Earl Weaver's run and hit, you might have a case.

  10. Lou really needs to stop sending the runners so damn often.
  11. Ted Lilly > Henry Blanco With the bat, at least.
  12. And Blanco still gets paid 3+ mil this season.
  13. Ricciardi is generally accepted to be the ugly friend of the sexy sabr GM's. Nobody really loves him, but come last call, sometimes your situation is desperate enough that it sounds like a good idea.
  14. Explanation: It's the middle of April.
  15. Reed Johnson and Mike Fontenot are the only Cub hitters without basehits so far.
  16. I'm considering ordering one of those mail-order brides just so I have a wife to offer to him.
  17. Have all of DLee's dingers been just left of center field?
  18. Think Murton would've made that play?
  19. I wonder if this has something to do with why it looked like he couldn't catch up with any of Harang's pitches? That would be more like it. The hand has nothing to do with it. Lou said he was going to spend 2-3 days working with Pie to shorten his swing. The two worked together Wednesday, with Piniella engaging in some pretty animated discussion with Pie. I pray that isn't a diplomatic way of saying Lou was yelling at Pie.
  20. I get it... the only way to beat Dusty lineup is to run a Dusty lineup out there against it.
