Replacing Blanco with Laird would be an upgrade as long as he doesn't cut into Geo's playing time. Speaking of which, is this finally the last year of that bloated backup catcher contract? Yes, this is finally the last year of that 2 year deal. Well, yes and no. There is a 3 million dollar club option for next year with a 300k buyout. That option could technically become guaranteed, but he'd need 170 games started between this year and last... which he wont come close.
BB Totals so far this year: Fukudome - 18 Soto - 13 Ramirez - 13 DeRosa - 11 Lee - 9 I realize. But Ramirez doesn't have that patience with him today. Maybe he'll find it later. Aramis is now batting .333/.333/.667 when putting the first pitch in play this season.
Yep, Wuertz and Lieber aren't at all at fault. Wuertz didn't really do anything wrong. He came in and got a couple ground balls... it's not his fault they weren't hit at anybody.
Marmol's the 8th inning guy. If that's really Lou's reason, he needs to be taken out behind the barn and shot. This was a huge situation. We should have been bringing in our best reliever.
If the season ended right now, who would you give it to? Do you give it to the BA and OBP guy or the HR and RBI guy? I'd give it to Fukudome Soto is batting .328 with an OBP over .400... and he's not the BA and OBP guy you're referring to. Awesome.
Oh wow, that's crazy. The crazy thing is that we've drawn 91 walks in 20 games. That's 4.55 walks per game... which puts us on pace for 737 walks this season. (Philadelphia led the NL last year with 641)
I really liked seeing Cedeno hold onto the ball a couple of times today. It seems like he's trying to cut back on the mental mistakes... he woulda let those balls sail over DLee's head before.
I just dropped Hank Blalock and picked up Ronny Cedeno on my fantasy team. (I have Ryan Braun, Evan Longoria, Mark Reynolds, Alfonso Soriano, and Carl Crawford to split between my 3B, LF, and UTIL spots... so dropping Blalock becomes less insane)
