  1. He's more of a backup CI that could fill catcher in a pinch.
  2. Weeks drives in Kendall on a sac fly. 4-0 Brewers.
  3. Bronson Arroyo gave up 10 ER in 1+IP. Ouch.
  4. Ross Gload just got his first dinger of the year. 8-4 Royals in the bottom of 8.
  5. They're only 4.5 games out. I'm not sure why people think they want to trade their best pitcher. I'm also not sure why we'd be willing to give up much of anything for a guy who has averaged 15 starts per season over the last four years. Beane was burned on the Giambi deal, and he hasn't let another player walk via FA since. If he doesn't think he can afford to resign him in the offseason, he'll be dealt, unless they're looking like strong WS contenders, and not just a borderline playoff team. Zito walked via FA. Obviously Beane hasn't gotten burned in that deal so far but he still let Zito walk. He had no intentions of tendering him as he wasn't good at the end. Not the same. And although anyone with half a brain could see Zito's pronounced decline, Beane still looks like a genius for that one. That was one of the best non-signings in recent memory. The Kaz Matsui non-signing is looking pretty good so far too. .271/.336/.342 playing half his games in Minute Maid... blech.
  6. King Felix had to leave that game after taking the brunt of a play at home on a passed ball... might be a sprained ankle.
  7. King Felix took Johan Santana deep with the bases juiced. 4-0 Mariners.
  8. Mike Cameron just hit a 2 run shot in the 2nd to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.
  9. Good point about Damon. Along those lines, Juan Pierre has 1,500 hits and is only 30. Edgar Renteria has 2002 and is only 32. He's the most likely of the group to get to 3000.
  10. He'd be fine if he stopped trying to throw the slider so damn much. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=237&position=P
  11. His line so far with the Cubs... .311/.358/.581 The degradation of his walk rate is somewhat troubling, but he's been very good for us so far. The interesting thing is that his BABIP during his tenure with the Cubs is still lower than his LD% indicates it should be... although only to the tune of him missing out on a single hit.
  12. And that's actually a letdown compared to his previous starts.
  13. Here's the thing... Harden has a 7 million dollar option next season with no buyout. That's gonna make him cost some more in terms of talent. I'd do Hill and Pie, plus a lower-ceiling guy like EPatt.
  14. I was just getting ready to post something in that exact vein.
  15. 2nd and 3rd, no outs - 1.94969 runs Bases juiced, no outs - 2.13804
  16. I wouldn't give up near that much, considering Burnett's contract.
  17. his wrist isn't broken. Additionally, that finger has been proven to have very little impact on a hitter's swing. Once his hand no longer hurts, it shouldn't take much to get him back on track.
  18. Or it could be the massive shoulder injury that destroyed his power output before they even started testing for steroids. Come on, at least try to be a little bit responsible when throwing goofy allegations out there.
  19. Milton Bradley: .329/.451/.630, 30 years old, paid $5.25 mil this year plus incentives. Likely will be a type A free agent, which yields compensation picks. Randy Winn: .301/.361/.454, 34 years old, paid $8 mil this season, and $8.25 mil next season. Rumor has the Rangers currently debating whether to attempt to resign Bradley or see whether they can get a return huge enough to justify moving him. We could probably get Winn plus half his 09 salary for a live arm like Ascanio and a scrub in instructs.
  20. Murton is on the inactive list? Why?
  21. Those are all rate stats, and he's still young enough that he hasn't gone through the inevitable decline phase yet. Don't get me wrong, he's a helluva player, but wake me when he's somewhat close to retiring age and I'll take a look at his HOF credentials then.
  22. http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/050228/050228_hudson_braves_vmed12p.widec.jpg 7-4, 2.86 versus http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2006/09/17/ljW5QHf6.jpg 8-2, 3.01
  23. Cubs are 1-0 when I start game threads, Cubs are 2-0 when I'm too sick to actually watch more than about 10 mins of the ballgame.
  24. Bennett (Jurrjens scratched) http://www.freewebs.com/egautographs/JEFFBENNETT.jpg 0-3, 3.47 versus http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/3781/2434aa0e087889a5c3b9299vy7.jpg 7-2, 2.90 This game is also on Comcast, but the board wouldn't let me put in enough characters in the title.
