  1. his wrist isn't broken. Additionally, that finger has been proven to have very little impact on a hitter's swing. Once his hand no longer hurts, it shouldn't take much to get him back on track.
  2. Or it could be the massive shoulder injury that destroyed his power output before they even started testing for steroids. Come on, at least try to be a little bit responsible when throwing goofy allegations out there.
  3. Milton Bradley: .329/.451/.630, 30 years old, paid $5.25 mil this year plus incentives. Likely will be a type A free agent, which yields compensation picks. Randy Winn: .301/.361/.454, 34 years old, paid $8 mil this season, and $8.25 mil next season. Rumor has the Rangers currently debating whether to attempt to resign Bradley or see whether they can get a return huge enough to justify moving him. We could probably get Winn plus half his 09 salary for a live arm like Ascanio and a scrub in instructs.
  4. Murton is on the inactive list? Why?
  5. Those are all rate stats, and he's still young enough that he hasn't gone through the inevitable decline phase yet. Don't get me wrong, he's a helluva player, but wake me when he's somewhat close to retiring age and I'll take a look at his HOF credentials then.
  6. http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/050228/050228_hudson_braves_vmed12p.widec.jpg 7-4, 2.86 versus http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2006/09/17/ljW5QHf6.jpg 8-2, 3.01
  7. Cubs are 1-0 when I start game threads, Cubs are 2-0 when I'm too sick to actually watch more than about 10 mins of the ballgame.
  8. Bennett (Jurrjens scratched) http://www.freewebs.com/egautographs/JEFFBENNETT.jpg 0-3, 3.47 versus http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/3781/2434aa0e087889a5c3b9299vy7.jpg 7-2, 2.90 This game is also on Comcast, but the board wouldn't let me put in enough characters in the title.
  9. http://allthewrightstuff.mlblogs.com/david_wright_and_the_magi/images/tom_glavine_autograph_1.jpg (2-2, 4.47) versus http://www.homeruncards.com/imagesrc/lillybow.jpg (5-5, 5.23) Go Cubs!
  10. It will require first round money. Very unlikely. but if we cough up a nice 5 mil bonus, then who knows. I don't think it'd take 5 mil. I'd be willing to give 1.5 or 2, though.
  11. If we actually manage to sign Gray, I'll be much happier with this draft.
  12. I hate the Cashner pick. There is no doubt that he was nowhere near the BPA. I like the Shafer and Carpenter picks. The others? I'm willing to see how they play out.
  13. Melville is really slipping. And I'm very pissed he made it past us.
  14. If Melville is still there at 41 (and if we take him), that'll make the Cashner pick a lot easier to swallow. To my mind, the only way to cancel out the no-upside pick of Cashner was to grab Hewitt at 41... and now that's not an option. I think it is a little extreme to "LOVE" or "HATE" a pick at this point. They are all a relative unknown. Its easy to throw around disgust about a pick, but a bit harder to give an actual reason for it. I have an actual reason. Drafting relievers is going to give you very little upside, and still maintain a pretty high level of risk. Any team that drafts a reliever in the first is wasting their pick, unless they intend to start him.
  15. Why? The post above yours aptly covers my reasoning.
  16. Well, it appears the Cubs view Hak-ju as a first rounder, because they passed on taking another one at #19.

  18. I'm more pissed about this than I was about signing Edmonds.
  19. Gordon Beckham doesn't look like he needs to wear a batting helmet.
  20. Let's examine this, shall we? Castro C - Astro We all should have seen that coming.
  21. Drafting a college reliever is a lot like drafting a kicker in the NFL. Unless there are some truly exceptional circumstances, smart teams just don't do it.
  22. You could stay at OMCs place, but he says he can only spoon on the right.
