  1. Jackson flies out in front of the warning track in left. Hudson tags from first and advances to 2nd. One out.
  2. Hudson leads off the bottom of 9 with a single. Connor Jackson up.
  3. That was an awesome catch. Something tells me he might end up sitting out tomorrow after hitting the wall so hard.
  4. Chris Young just made a HUGE catch in CF to save a few runs and give the Dbacks a chance to come back in the bottom of the 9th... still 4-3 brewers.
  5. I think it sounded worse than it was.
  6. Interesting. I wonder how much turnover there has been in the scouting staff since Rizzo took over?
  7. ERA 2005 - 2.48 2006 - 2.22 2008 - 2.67 K/9 2005 - 10.55 2006 - 10.15 2008 - 7.39 BB/9 2005 - 4.66 2006 - 4.78 2008 - 4.46 H/9 2005 - 5.59 2006 - 5.25 2008 - 7.77 HR/9 2005 - 0.62 2006 - 0.41 2008 - 0.76 If Veal had been injured and missed all of 2007, we would still be pretty stoked to see this guy coming up the ladder. Hopefully, it just took him a bit longer than most to adjust to the more advanced hitting, and we'll be seeing him continue to improve. I'm still pretty high on him, though I don't doubt that Hendry and co will probably end up throwing him in the pen if he stumbles again.
  8. Keep him at 3rd until it becomes painfully obvious that he has no future there. Why kill his value when we don't have to?
  9. He's more of a backup CI that could fill catcher in a pinch.
  10. Weeks drives in Kendall on a sac fly. 4-0 Brewers.
  11. Bronson Arroyo gave up 10 ER in 1+IP. Ouch.
  12. Ross Gload just got his first dinger of the year. 8-4 Royals in the bottom of 8.
  13. They're only 4.5 games out. I'm not sure why people think they want to trade their best pitcher. I'm also not sure why we'd be willing to give up much of anything for a guy who has averaged 15 starts per season over the last four years. Beane was burned on the Giambi deal, and he hasn't let another player walk via FA since. If he doesn't think he can afford to resign him in the offseason, he'll be dealt, unless they're looking like strong WS contenders, and not just a borderline playoff team. Zito walked via FA. Obviously Beane hasn't gotten burned in that deal so far but he still let Zito walk. He had no intentions of tendering him as he wasn't good at the end. Not the same. And although anyone with half a brain could see Zito's pronounced decline, Beane still looks like a genius for that one. That was one of the best non-signings in recent memory. The Kaz Matsui non-signing is looking pretty good so far too. .271/.336/.342 playing half his games in Minute Maid... blech.
  14. King Felix had to leave that game after taking the brunt of a play at home on a passed ball... might be a sprained ankle.
  15. King Felix took Johan Santana deep with the bases juiced. 4-0 Mariners.
  16. Mike Cameron just hit a 2 run shot in the 2nd to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.
  17. Good point about Damon. Along those lines, Juan Pierre has 1,500 hits and is only 30. Edgar Renteria has 2002 and is only 32. He's the most likely of the group to get to 3000.
  18. He'd be fine if he stopped trying to throw the slider so damn much. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=237&position=P
  19. His line so far with the Cubs... .311/.358/.581 The degradation of his walk rate is somewhat troubling, but he's been very good for us so far. The interesting thing is that his BABIP during his tenure with the Cubs is still lower than his LD% indicates it should be... although only to the tune of him missing out on a single hit.
  20. And that's actually a letdown compared to his previous starts.
  21. Here's the thing... Harden has a 7 million dollar option next season with no buyout. That's gonna make him cost some more in terms of talent. I'd do Hill and Pie, plus a lower-ceiling guy like EPatt.
  22. I was just getting ready to post something in that exact vein.
  23. 2nd and 3rd, no outs - 1.94969 runs Bases juiced, no outs - 2.13804
  24. I wouldn't give up near that much, considering Burnett's contract.
