  1. Yeah, that's what I said BBB. It seems like a big cost for DeRo. To be fair, it's likely that DeRo is a type A after this season, so he'd possibly be worth 2 high draft picks.
  2. Don't know if I should be embarrassed for not knowing who the hell Donald is? Heard of Carrasco, though. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/C/Carlos-Carrasco.shtml http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/D/Jason-Donald.shtml
  3. ... She's deferring to Steve Phillips' knowledge. And that says just about all you need to know about Carrie Muskat.
  4. Hendry hasn't done anything wrong. In fact, I don't know that I have even heard him say DeRosa's name once. You haven't heard him say Peavy's name once, either. That would be a violation of the CBA.
  5. lol wut? Well DeRosa has hit like .650 against the Reds the last 2 years, I can see why they like him. 2007 - .510/.567/.667 2008 - .238/.385/.500
  6. I'm pretty sure they would have liked to not signed Kevin Brown or Carl Pavano knowing what they know now. And they didn't sign Kevin Brown.
  7. First awesome joke of the thread. I had a good one 20 or 30 pages ago.
  8. The formulas are proprietary (though I wouldn't be surprised if Meph has them), but the definitions are all up here. I'd wait on adding them, though. BP just announced that they're completely reworking their definitions of replacement level... raising the bar up to more of a modern definition.
  9. Jerry Hairston JR fits that bill rather nicely he can play the outfield and SS/2B. He really hit well last season for the Reds it might have been a fluke but for a utility guy we could do a lot worse. The way the bench shapes out will have a lot to do who platoons with Fontento. He did have a good year last year...but I'd rather light my pubes on fire. Wanna be best friends?
  10. fontenot? i'm surprised we haven't heard about more teams inquiring about him. I got the impression Hendry was shooting down inquiries on him pretty quickly.
  11. I think it's a great idea, unfortunately the only thing people do these days on this board (not pointing an fingers but everyone knows who) is derail threads. Quite sad that it is allowed, and the same dbags are allowed to do it relentlessly. This is rather obviously an attempt to derail Roast's awesome thread. I'd be willing to pitch in if there's something you need me to help with, Roast.
  12. Abreu is a terrible defender. One of the worst in the league.
  13. the public matters not to anyone involved Ok, Yoda.
  14. This is why Towers has been airing all of these updates... Everybody in the world knew that he had to move Peavy and his only option was the Cubs, so he had no leverage. He's trying to create some by affecting public opinion towards Hendry if the deal doesn't go through. If the public would just calm down and be laissez faire about it, Hendry would probably be able to pull a better deal out of this.
  15. There's a 4th year vesting option at 14 mil... and I'd imagine it's pretty easy to vest. You're probably looking more at 4/51 than 3/37.
  16. Dukes by himself was more than enough. You throw one little bat at an umpire, and all of a sudden you've got an "attitude problem"... sheesh.
  17. I could see towers and hendry tripping on shrooms while going to see cirque du soleil to discuss this deal. "The tall chair is gawking at me and the short one is behaving very droll!" Maybe the holdup is the Cubs getting another player back in the deal. Remember when Minnesota expected to get Murton in the Nomar deal? Maybe Towers sees someone he likes in the Rule V draft and wants to make sure that he has roster space. That's unlikely. He's looking to receive a large number of players that almost all would need placed on the 40 man immediately. If he wants somebody in the rule 5, he's already got a roster crunch... waiting wont help.
  18. Looks like Towers canned the phone interview, cause they're trying to put together a last minute interview with Greg Maddux.
  19. Everybody here could stand to develop some patience.
  20. update: people still don't like you more later More later? I think that pretty well sums it up. It's amazing how a guy who was banned for mocking the site then let back in on probation is allowed to openly mock the rest of the board by bragging how he has most of it on ignore. He should have that probation revoked. Oh, and if he's got the time to add 40 pages of foes, he can take his time and read the damned thread. Everyone else stop giving him summaries. Take your righteous indignation and try to direct it at people who might care what you think.
  21. Same situation as last night, but Hendry has apparently made a bit of progress with Milton Bradley.
  22. Peavy doesn't want to go to the AL, IIRC. And I'm not too upset if the Brewers sink 25% of their annual payroll into Sabathia. If he gets injured, that would completely destroy their chances.
  23. Towers has said that it's all up to Jim now from his quotes yesterday and today, What's keeping him from pulling the trigger and being hesitant? Towers seems to want to get this done asap. Usually Hendry is real quick when it comes to getting a caliber player such as Peavy. There's nothing to indicate a deal is in place... just that Towers has said there's a group of players he'd accept. Hendry still would have to negotiate with other teams to acquire those players (most likely, find a package to acquire the right prospects from Philly) It's not as simple as "pulling the trigger"
