Do we have two Marshalls? :P You forgot about the little known Steve Marshall, a PTBL in the Neifi Perez trade. I thought all we got from that trade was Chris Robinson... and not having Neifi anymore.

I always read the post before looking to see who posted it (and I don't have any images turned on)... I thought for sure this was a post from meph. No offense to either of you, of course. :D Meph's fanclub already has its own part of the forum, and nobody ever posts there.

Vitters, Marshall, and Ronny are almost certainly involved in any trade. Looking at the farms systems for the other potential teams, Wellington Castillo is probably gone too.

It wouldn't shock me to see Hendry pull a disappointing prospect out of another club. Don't expect any major league pieces or minor league blue-chippers, though.

The announcement isn't that a deal is done, or that anything is really agreed to. All he's saying is "if you can get me players A, B, C, D, and E, then Peavy is all yours."

I can certainly buy that it has an effect, but I just can't imagine stacking lefties is gonna cost you 3-4 wins all on its own.

Fine, it's mostly irrelevant. On the order of a handful of runs per season. or, in reality, on the order of a handful of wins per season. If you're comparing min and max lineups, sure. But the typical lineups of today aren't that far removed from the ideal. Nobody is batting the pitcher first.

Angel Guzman could easily be the player whose injury history Jim Hendry was upfront about. I dont know about moving DeRosa. The main focus of the off season was supposed to be offense. Pitching wasnt even really on the radar until Paevy entered the picture. If we do end up moving DeRosa in such a deal, I hope theres a real possibility that we can get someone like Bradley or Abreu as well. I don't have a problem with moving DeRosa. His value is at an all-time high, and we have a very similar player making the league minimum available... one who also fits management's obsession with left handed hitting. If DeRosa is the piece that puts the deal over the top, you pull the trigger without hesitation. Is anyone else concerned that Bradley couldn't handle deal with the media for a major market team? This is the same media that goes overboard against Ramirez for supposedly not hustling enough. As long as we've got Mike Fontenot around to free up DeRosa to cover RF once in a while, we can absorb a couple suspensions and a trip to the DL.

LOL...WUT? He very obviously did extremely well in the Aramis, Lee, Nomar, and Harden trades. Z, Aramis, and Lee also signed long-term extensions for far less than they could have gotten on the open market. Dempster probably signed for less than he could have gotten on the open market (not that it makes it a good contract, but still). Fukudome signed for less than the top offer. Soriano and Marquis are the only significant contracts he's signed that have been above market rate. And the only trade where he obviously gave up too much was the one for Juan Pierre. Hendry is a good negotiator. I certainly don't agree with all of his moves, but he acquits himself well when players or GMs are sitting across the table from him.

Unless I'm mistaken, he's referring to them as the third team in the same vein that the Oriole's have been referred to it as... simply as a facilitator.

Pretty good deal for the Tigers. They are getting cheaper and younger at both SS and C That's a very optimistic way of describing the difference between Renteria and Everett. From 34 to 32 year old is not exactly a youth movement when you consider how bad Everett is at staying on the field since he turned 30. He snapped his leg in a freak accident.
