  1. Terrible news. By all accounts, he was a pretty good kid...
  2. i'm actually NOT concerned about those people at all. Enough idiots shout loudly enough, and it will make at least some impact. Even the media was all over Kosuke after a weak showing opening day. Today bought him some credit, but a slow start and we might see the idiots try to push him out of town.
  3. There isn't much I'm not excited about. Aaron Miles is junk, and I've resigned myself to the probability that DLee is going to settle in as a slightly above average 1B on the downslope of what has been a nice career. I see very nice upsides for everybody else in the lineup... and Hoffpauir is a nice bench bat, Gathright has excellent value if he's never allowed to pick up a bat, and Koyie Hill is... well, he's not Paul Bako. I love our rotation, and I think Lou and Jimbo made all the right calls with the bullpen at the end of spring training. Patton has some real upside, Gooz is ridiculously filthy when healthy... and we can keep Shark starting at AAA til we need an injury replacement. Hell, I'm even excited at the thought that Vizcaino is the last man in the bullpen... he hasn't looked good since 2007, but he should still be quite a bit better than the last man in most other pens.
  4. I know your being sarcastic, and I know this is going to sound dumb. But I always liked Nyjer Morgan and glad to see him get a chance to play everyday. You and me both. I love when other teams shoot themselves in the foot.
  5. Yovanni Gallardo just hit a 3 run bomb.
  6. Each time they pitched him inside tonight after the beaning, I was sure he was going to rush the mound. It was glorious.
  7. Knock on wood. It's still quite early... and the Braves just dropped a game like this today.
  8. The only people in the lineup without hits so far are Bradley and Lilly... and both of them have had a couple real nice plate appearances.
  9. No he shouldn't have. He was playing him pretty far up the middle.
  10. Well, we're getting back at the Astros for their 10th inning last night.
  11. http://csnchicago.com/pages/zipcode If you're having trouble finding CSN+, this'll tell you what channel it is.
  12. Our team is fine. The only thing I'm concerned about is all the idiots with ridiculous concerns.
  13. I picked up the extra innings package yesterday, and added MLB At Bat to my iphone for updates wherever I am. Add in MLBN, and I pretty much get to see everything I could ever want to.
  14. With the talent the Royals have, a few key breakouts and the sky is the limit. Gordon and Butler breaking out this year could easily propel the Royals to the playoffs in that weak division.
  15. Some people don't get to watch or listen to the game. Don't say stupid things.
  16. What about a walk with the bases already loaded?
  17. Great idea... let's take out our best outfield arm in a game that may very well be decided on a sac fly... in left field at minute maid park, where there is no point to having slightly better range.
  18. Yeah, this is about what I expected from you.
  19. He did exactly what he was supposed to do on a hit and run... put the ball on the ground. Can't fault him for that one at all.
  20. Z's control was a lot tighter that inning.
  21. 2008 Cubs: Actual W-L: 97-64 Pythag. W-L: 98-63 2008 Brewers: Actual W-L: 90-72 Pythag. W-L: 87-75 http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/?ymd=20081027 Tell me again who overachieved and who underachieved. I read his argument to mean individuals overachieved or underachieved compared to their projections... which isn't something that would show up in a pythag.
  22. The important thing to stress is that the Rays get six years of service time out of him unless they decide otherwise... through being traded, non-tendered, waived, etc... He has 2 years and 126 days of service time right now. He's likely a FA after 2012.
