  1. Apparently, hes already saved the economy, so whats left for him to do? Give his 2 cents on the Cambridge, Mass police department...sorry, that's for another thread... We all need a release from our work to stay sane. I don't see an issue with Obama congratulating Buerhle on one of the most rare feats in baseball... Besides, he probably does it to irk Hillary. Wait, or is she a Yankee fan ?
  2. Dwayne Wise's catch to rob Kapler of the HR in the 9th was clutch. Best play ever to save a no-hitter/perfect game ?
  3. If Moyer can make it to 50 and pitch against the Cubs on a regular basis, he might win 300 games...
  4. It was needed for everyone not named Jake Fox or D. Lee. They continue to rake. If Fukudome and Theriot and solidify the top of the order, this team can score runs.
  5. You didn't appreciate him telling the viewers that pitchers must trust their stuff ? After all, he only gave up 27 hr to 2000 batters!

Wow, for as much as Milton walks, he doesn't pass go very often...
  7. When's the MOJ baby coming? After just coming back from Spain, I think we realize that traveling is too much fun for us to have a child just yet... Check back in 2011-12 ? :D Then again, sometimes you take what life gives you...
  8. Great news. Congrats!
  9. "Power guys like Giambi and Dunn have always had high OPS because no one wants to pitch to them. But it takes two hits to score them from first." - Harold Reynolds "Who's been the champions the last seven, eight years? ...Have you ever heard the Yankees talk about on-base percentage and walks? Walks help. But you ain't going to walk across the plate. You're going to hit across the plate. That's the school I come from." - Dusty Baker "The statistical analysis is something to factor in... When you see a guy in the dugout day in and day out or you're at every game, like we are, you know whether a guy can help you when it counts or not. We're probably more of the old, pure, go by our scouts, go by our coaches, go by our manager's gut feeling and try to make the right decisions." - Jim Hendry, Cubs
  10. Soto's been fine since roughly May 1st. Inconsistent play in the WBC and being horribly out of shape basically left him a month late to add any value to the team. I think he'll be prepared from day one next season.
  11. He's done more enough to contribute to being 14th in BB's for the bullpen.
  12. 22 runners inherited; 13 have scored (Heilman). The bullpen is torture to watch, especially without Guzman. They are now 2nd in BAA, 14th in walks, 12th in ERA. And, they have done this while throwing the fewest innings in the National League. This club will fall apart in August unless this is fixed (or at least, modified).
  13. It was a good, crisp game. Gregg is no better than Howry. His pattern is so predictable. He tries to pitch backwards with offspeed stuff in fastball counts and vice versa. The league knows it, and they hit it.
  14. After trading you my best hitter and pitcher. It would have otherwise been a thrashing from the last place team. I'll continue to manage my team to try to win for the integrity of the league. After all, look how much better my team did than Adam's!
  15. Why does anyone pitch to Pujols ? His OPS is nearly .400 higher than anyone on the Cardinals. All he does is damage the baseball. If I am the opposing manager/pitcher, I wouldn't mess around with Pujols if there are runners on base or if he can affect the outcome of the game in any way. Hypothetical situation; Cubs up one run, Gregg on the mound, runner at first. Pujols is at bat, Ludwick on deck. Would you walk Pujols ? Yes.
  16. That is just about the best lineup the Cubs can put on the field right now, offensively.
  17. If Guzman is injured, he had no business being in the game yesterday; let alone 2 innings. This could be a case of the Cubs using the DL as an extreme precaution given that the bullpen is beat. If that's the case, pulling Hart from his start today to make him the long man doesn't make sense in the long term (it does for today if Wells struggles). What this basically does is turn Marmol into nearly an every day pitcher unless Ascancio pitches well. This is going to be tough. The Cubs play 22 games in the next 22 days leading up to the A-S Break.
  18. Not surprising, but not good: Guzman to DL
  19. Don't forget who hold management positions for the Reds. They are big fans.
  20. its pretty bad, i love it though. If you plan on watching this service though, i doubt it would last an entire game on a full charge. I watched the last three innings and it killed 40% of my battery. For a typical three hour game, your battery will die.
  21. Yeah, maybe a bit much, but it managed to shore up two of my weakest areas (other than 1B), and I really like Cruz. Likewise for my team. I was looking for picks in the draft and a top notch position player. With Wieters promoted, Posey is arguably the best catching prospect in baseball. And, I get a much needed draft pick. They aren't household names, but by points Vasquez is a Top 15 pitcher and Cruz is a Top 10 hitter. Good enough to be keepers and enough to push Saber up a notch in the playoff hunt. I think it will work out well for both teams.
  22. Valenzuela's Screwballs get Saber Metric's 1st Rounder in 2010 in the Posey for Cruz/Vasquez deal.
