  1. I hope the Daytona internet broadcast works better tonight than it was last night so I can listen to the first few innings.
  2. Last night on Fox News, they also said the concrete would be painted a darker grey like the old bleacher sections.
  3. I have my doubts about how well the ivy will do on the outside walls, anyway. People will pick off leaves/branches. There's apparently now a thin strip of mulch between the sidewalk and the outside walls for the ivy ... people invariably lean up against the wall while waiting in line, and that's likely to get trampled. With the bleach overhang, there's not likely to be much natural light getting there. It's a nice thought, though. Maybe I'll be surprised. :)
  4. Sounds like Barrett is starting.
  5. I've been in that section in years past and Gooney is right. It's in the RF section that's slightly cut back from the rest of the outfield. In the first several bleacher box rows, you should be able to see that cut-back section of RF better than most of the rest of the park can ... but you may miss balls/catches on the warning track in the non-cutback section of RF. Slezak has written columns in the past about how she hasn't enjoyed going to games at Wrigley and prefers the modern conviences at U.S. Cellular.

  7. I believe a couple of the games last year that featured Blanco catching Maddux were vs the AL and Barrett DH'd or were while Barrett was nursing a sore shoulder. Dusty was pretty consistent with matching Barrett with Maddux, reportedly in hopes of improving Barrett's game-calling ability.
  8. Sounds great! I know some people had problems last season with the volume; it's coming through loud and clear for me tonight. :) I had popping noises briefly earlier and restarted the player, it's been working fine since then.
  9. <------------------- Blanco was Prior's personal catcher last season. He's going to start sometime even with Prior on the DL; I'd guess either tomorrow or Saturday and again during the day-day-day series vs the Reds next week.
  10. I tried tuning it in earlier and it would go into buffering hell every 10-30 seconds. It was unlistenable.
  11. Thanks, Nathan! I edited the "Listening" sticky to include the new info. The broadcast sounds great. Excellent! Although the Peoria audio feeds won't include the pre-game interviews this season, they will be made available directly from the Chiefs website. :) Past interviews have included special guests like Nomar, Oneri Fleita, Jim Hendry, and of course Chiefs players throughout the season.
  12. FYI -- There is a Minor Leagues Games Thread for this and the other games in the Minor Leagues Forum, courtesy of Outshined. :)
  13. That's funny on perceptions -- I actually thought Santo was tougher than he usually is on Ramirez, mainly because Santo was so disappointed the Cubs hadn't scored more runs at that point (just before Young Murton's HR). Santo does have a soft spot for Ramirez, but he always seemed to try to adopt the new Cubs 3rdbaseman and then be sad when they didn't work out. Having Ramirez around is a big relief for him. I completely understand how some people can't stand Santo as a radio guy. I like him ... but a lot of that is because of Pat Hughes. I don't see how it would work with anyone else.
  14. Welcome aboard! You're on the list.
  15. According to the Yahoo Sports game recap. Here's the boxscore for the 1977 Opening Day Lineup (Cubs lose 5-3 to the Mets). Other bits of trivia:
  16. =; Let's hope not!
  17. Reminder -- all entries for the 2006 NSBB Predictions Contest are due by noon CT tomorrow. Get your entries in! See the Events Forum for details. I'll get the list of prizes up next week. :D
  18. Eduardo Perez and Thome pickers can be happy so far tonight.
  19. Hung over implies that Freel won't be drinking the day of the game. Hair of the hound ...
  20. Let's keep the discussions of the fantasy ramifications in the fantasy forum and keep this thread about real-life ramifications. It affects my money league, too .... but astonishingly, I'm the only person here who is interested in that league. :) ETA -- The fantasy discussion is going on here. (Premium)
  21. The 2005's? They have them online at the Peoria Chiefs store now. I guess they're not so hard to find then. Ha. The Road to the Show insert sets and the chiefs sets were doing pretty well on EBay for awhile ... but obviously, I haven't been keeping up to date on that.
  22. Excellent! Those were hard to find last year.
