  1. That's a much more optimistic report than Stone had yesterday morning before the full extent of Lee's injuries was known. He also said yesterday morning that he believed Wood would be back soon and throwing better than ever. The 'better' being due to Wood's revamped mechanics.
  2. Right handed power that can play first and the OF. Who would you have brought up? Sing, who is still having troubles getting acclimated to AAA? Somebody that had potential to be good someday. BTW how many games has Restovich played at 1b in his career? Zero: Total as LF 34 Total as RF 49 It was also mentioned on the Score that he had played "some 1B" in spring training.
  3. They said on the Score this morning that Restovich had been promoted. They also interviewed him earlier (8ish?) before I tuned in.
  4. He did come back and finish strong his last two games last season (including the Daytona start).
  5. Has Restovich ever played 1B? I'm a Sing fan. I have a Sing jersey. But he is struggling with the adjustment to AAA pitching right now (though there have been signs of life lately). AAA from milb.com Sing (40 ABs) Avg/OBP/SLG - .200 / .319 / .275 Restovich (48 ABs) Avg/OBP/SLG - .333 / .407 / .604 Neither are on the 40-man roster.
  6. Sing has been struggling so far in AAA. He needs to hold on to that gig before there's talk of promoting him. ETA: Timely mention of Hill (as a potential replacement for Marshall) in Mayo's column at milb.com.
  7. Cubs.com lists the Cubs record for consecutive scoreless innings pitched by a reliever as 32.2 by Warren Brusstar in 1983. They still have Tom Gordon listed as holding the Cubs record for most consecutive save ops converted with 19, though.
  8. Of course, he did lead the pitching staff in innings pitched and tied with Z for most wins in '04. He's had a HOF career and has been remarkably injury-free, and he's done that by sticking to his routines. I can understand why it took a season like '05, potential free agency and -- who knows? -- maybe even an upcoming 40th birthday to change that routine.
  9. It's fun to think that it's just part of the Master Plan when he does walk someone.
  10. Thanks for the game report, Vinestal!! Heheh. The Spongebob Squarepants is also very popular at the Kane County Ballpark ... you may wake up screaming a few times before it leaves your head. 17 :) Mississippi is lucky it's only 7 innings today. :) Smile
  11. I'll slip this in under the wire. :) vs. Righties AB H 1B 2B HR K BB HBP Avg / OBP / SLG / OPS 47 9 6 2 1 17 2 1 .191/ .240/ .298/ .538 vs. Lefties AB H 1B 2B HR K BB HBP Avg / OBP / SLG / OPS 18 5 5 0 0 5 0 0 .263/ .263/ .263/ .526 3 of the 5 singles to lefties were infield singles (or at least fielded by an infielder according to the game logs). 3 of the 10 FOs were infield popouts.
  12. Gallagher picks up his first win of the season.
  13. No work for me? I like the sound of that. :D Great, I wasn't sure if the gameday data you used for Iowa would be as accessible.
  14. Would you mind doing Daytona as a team? If so, then Karen could do Peoria, and Raw and I can fight for the two upper level teams. I put together a quick spreadsheet(download here) to make it easier to tally, and I could also try to make an effort to post the handedness of the opponents before the start of a series to make for faster tabulation(we could have a thread for this purpose). Any other thoughts or volunteers? I could volunteer to do the pitchers ... and I can at least try to get caught up on the hitters if you don't mind emailing me the spreadsheet you're working from (might as well standardize it amongst ourselves).
  15. This is the second time in a week that he's faced St. Lucie.
  16. I'm tracking it on the pitching side for some of the Daytona pitchers.
  17. He is *mighty* photogenic. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/2006/04/17/st82XEbe.jpg
