  1. Be happy to give you mine. Also, I don't want it to seem like everyone should autopick, but if you are going to be away for 8 hours and you have a good idea who you want to pick, set it to autopick so that the draft can continue moving. Realistically, it's moved along at a pretty decent clip today. But, I could see it slowing down to the point of aggravation.
  2. Maybe you could create a message that goes out to all the managers explaining how autopilot works and how to set it up so that they get the players they want.
  3. I can see that point of view and I would guess that is how Adam feels too. It does email you when its your turn. To be fair, I said I'm not sure I like this format. I'm willing to give it a go. I'm just expressing my opinions at this juncture. I understand that you get emailed when it's your turn, but that doesn't mean you are available to make a pick at that time. And if I'm not available for 15 hours or so when it is my turn, I don't want 15 managers getting upset with me because I wasn't around to make the pick when it does become my turn. I have a question that could resolve this, and one that many of us may or may not have known since this started so abrubtly. Will the autopilot make the pick right away for someone if they have them in their queue and set the draft on autopilot? Because if that's the case, I would think that setting the autopilot and placing your most preferred players at the top of your queue could make things speed up a bit.
  4. I'm not sure I like this format. I'm a very impatient person, but more towards the fact I don't like people waiting on me. I keep checking in just in case it's my turn, so that I can hurry up and pick, only to find nothing has happened. I guess what I don't like is the fact that my pick might be in an hour, or it might not come until Friday. Through my own fault, my next pick won't come until the end of round 3, so I can see this draft getting real boring.
  5. Seems a bit torturous so far, and realistically, we could still be on the first or second pick if everyone took their time. I guess it just takes some getting used to.
  6. Who does he think he is?
  7. Today being a holiday for some people, maybe we can crank through a few rounds today.
  8. Hold the phone. I've got some monster holes to be filled on my roster first.
  9. Seconded. He might be interested in a back up role, but not one with a catcher like Soto in front of him. Pudge still wants to play and get AB's, thats not gonna have with Soto on the team. It's gonna be pretty hard to find a catcher better then Bako who would be willing to sign here, unless we overpaid. Thats why I still feel it would have took more then 750 K to resign Blanco. Yes he signed with the Padres for that, but he also has a much better chance to get playing time with the Padres. Pudge will probably sign with the Mets, Marlins or Astros were he will still get alot of AB's even if he isn't starting everyday. Blanco seemed to be fine with being a backup while he was with the Cubs. I'd say there's a very good chance he'd rather have stayed in Chicago where he's been the last 4 years. Not all guys want more playing time. You can't just assume that's what a player wants. If I had to guess, which is really all I can do since I'm not in the front office, I would think Hendry talked to Hank about coming back and Hank probably told Hendry that he wanted to go somewhere he would have a chance to play more often. That would make the most sense.
  10. Tell Marc F. I said "hey". Response (Marc F) - 02/15/2009 09:24 PM ok, hang in there -- talking to one of the programmers... I'll call within 10 minutes, ok? Thanks
  11. Not sure why, but I get all the email exchanges you have with Sportsline sent to me, also.
  12. I'll just get my computer guy back over here. Besides the fact my computer is the main computer with 3 other computers networked to it, including the sharing of program files, it's my work computer. I'm having issues with a Tiger Woods '08 game I just bought to, as my computer insists that my video card won't work with this game. I think it's another evil plot by Bill Gates to force me to unhook my shared program file network. It was a big mutha trying to figure out how to share program files on XP Pro to begin with.
  13. sounds like you may need to load some new applets. right now, the draft isn't working. Nope. I have all the up to date stuff. When I went to Adobe's Support Center, it said that I have permissions that won't allow the use of the updated version of Flash Player. To remedy the situation, I would have to make manual adjustments to my registry, and here is the warning that comes before the instructions: Warning! The following solution involves the Windows System Registry. Editing or manipulating the registry incorrectly can result in serious system damage which may require reinstallation of the operating system. If you are not comfortable editing the registry, then take your system to a professional. If you choose to proceed, then it is essential that you create a complete system backup and a Windows System Restore Point before proceeding. Adobe Systems cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from this information. I don't need the Flash chat that bad, thank you very much.
  14. Haha. I just got emailed by CBS saying it was my turn to pick and that picks 1-14 were skipped. I love this new draft format. Also, my draft chat doesn't work.
  15. Why is Evan Longoria in my draft queue? He can't be removed. I'd love to have him and I'd be happy to make him my first pick, but I think he's already spoken for.
  16. I disagree on the draft order but agree on the number of rounds. Using waivers isn't much different from a draft anyway. We'll go three rounds. You can always pass. What is the reason to wait until after the major league draft? Maybe others wouldn't agree, but I view getting the best Free Agent and the best minor leaguer added to the database will only fuel the dumping of teams that are out of contention late in the season. By reversing the waiver order, you aren't giving the worst team in the league that extra incentive to dump the team. this concerns me too but I think there are other ways to remedy the situation - one is to use standings at the trade deadline for the draft order. Another would be to correlate keeper points to wins . . . this may further imbalance the league though. In the new league, I plan to correlate budget to wins. I might like the idea of creating the draft order at the trade deadline. Let me think about that one.
  17. I'll raise the potential problem I saw with the same order of the draft applying to both formats, and that is that teams already start dumping (trading off their good players since they know they can't make the playoffs) now. This only increases the incentive to dump, IMO. Realistically, teams shouldn't be dumping at all. There are supposed to be competitive match ups all the way through the season, and the schedule can become favorable for some teams when they match up against these teams that are trying to finish in last rather than remain competitive. It's my opinion that reversing the order may not resolve the dumping issue, but it won't make someone more inclined to do it.
  18. go to the draft room. Oh, we didn't have a draft room this morning. I'm just trying to get caught up on all the posts in here, let alone visit Roadkill. #-o

  20. Is there a draft queue or a place we can place players to more easily compare/evaluate who is more draftable?
  21. I think the minor league portion should be reversed from the major league portion, and run it immediately following the major league draft. Reversed meaning that if you had the first pick (prior to any trades of draft picks) in the major league portion, you get the 16th pick in the minor league. The issues that I can see from a minor league draft, is that many teams already have full rosters. Some may want 8 minor leaguers while some may not want any. Therefore, my idea would be that you do 12 rounds of major league draft and 2 or 3 rounds of minor league draft. After that, any minor leaguers can just be picked up through the normal waiver process. Realistically, how many talented prospects worthy of a spot on a roster will be available at draft time? 4 rounds would be 48, which is damn near 33% of the maximum of minor league roster spots.
  22. It appears to be set for 17.
  23. Your non-keepers will be off your teams by 6 AM EST according to sportsline. No trades between now and the draft. Post-draft, your roster must be legal within 48 hours of the draft and you may not make trades prior to legalizing your roster.
  24. Roy Oswalt is the biggest douche in the history of the douche bag. He's a bigger turd than Bono. Hey Roy, you played with Caminetti, Clemens, Tejada, and Pettitte, not to mention the other guys we don't know about cough*Richard Hildalgo*cough. Your only world series appearance is an abomination you bumba-clot. I sense you are holding back from expressing your true feelings.
  25. Not that Ryan Leaf was a good pick, but I'm pretty sure he was the second overall pick not the #1 pick. Not to defend Ryan Leaf or anything but he had all the physical tools to be a successful player in the NFL he just turned out to be a moron. He is a large reason they have huge psych evaluations for players specially quarterbacks now. He was truly the consensus #2 player behind Peyton Manning. SD just got unlucky and well maybe should have done a little more evaluations outside of the football field. While I agree, in a sense, with what you are saying, mostly picks are judged based on how they perform, and Ryan Leaf's performance in San Diego was beyond ridiculous. They were both hugely wasted picks, even if Matt Bush was not a celebrated high caliber prospect, while Ryan Leaf was.
