  1. Very cool that the Cubs are averaging more than a run per inning so far this season. That's just fun baseball.
  2. Still under 0.5 did we strand the bases loaded twice tonight? or just once? It was twice.
  3. And the "highlight" of the day is gonna be Ernie Els 6 putting. I can honestly say I've never done that. Heck, I've never 5 putted. Put me in coach!
  4. The one? There was more than one. Mashinter and Reaves ended up dropping gloves.
  5. Hmm. Lackey with no HR's in 13 years. Time to fix that.
  6. It's always fun when a guy admires his long single that turned into an out trying to stretch it into 2.
  7. Actually, maybe I can get the game on MLB TV. They seem to be offering more games than EI.
  8. Oh, I see now. I don't get the Cub game because that piece of crap MLB channel feels that the game that ends at 7pm should black out games that start at 6:40. Guess I'll have to watch the Blackhawks instead. Damn!
  9. Where are all of the MLB EI games today? I was watching Cincy vs. Phi, but went to switch it to San Fran game and the only game I can find is Oakland. Boooooo!
  10. Been raining here in San Diego all morning. Rain is in the forecast for the next week, which is quite weird. Anyway, I'd expect the roof to be closed for this entire series.
  11. This is how I tend to see it, though it's possible I'm completely operating on bias as far as the severity of hangover stuff. Usually if I hydrate well, I avoid bad hangovers. If I don't, I get bad hangovers. How much of a role the quality of it plays I can't really say much on beyond my anecdotal belief that it might be better with good liquor. My last trip the bar was a Corona every hour for the first three hours, which is my general casual gotta drive home pace, then 6 shots of Tullamadoo as my buddy calls it in a matter of 30 minutes, more commonly known as Tullamore Dew. Call my wife to come and get me. It gets scary when everyone feels the need to buy a round. The beers also start going down a lot quicker during this shot frenzy, of course.
  12. Cheap gin is good for one thing. It cleans glass amazingly.
  13. Yeah, I've never heard that the buzz is better because you went top shelf over cheap well options. It's the after effects that make me stick to the top shelf stuff if I'm going to have a bunch of drinks. I also stay away from on tap beers, as the hangover from those are usually worse for me than bottled. That may be a myth, but my hangovers are worse on beer pumped through lines. Now, certain boozes tend to create different types of buzzes. I know some people who should never drink vodka again as long as they live. But they seem to be fine on beer buzzes, rum and whiskey. And then I know some people who should never drink whiskey. Tequila sneaks up on me too dangerously, so I gave that up in my early 20's. I'll sip a nice smooth expensive blue agave tequila, but I won't get drunk on it ever again. Puking in a urinal at a strip club at 3am at my bachelor party was a day I'll never forget. At least what I remember of it. :|
  14. Leake just put a good one in Marte's kidney. That's gonna leave a mark.
  15. Yes, but I seem to recall that Chase is more of a hitter's park with the roof open and more neutral when closed. And I know the schedule. Been trying to figure out a way to get to a game, but it's just not going to happen this time out west. Yeah, I believe its still a hitter's park with the roof closed, but becomes a bandbox when opened. Not that the Cub hitters need any help clearing the outfield wall or anything. I was just pointing out that there might be some weather.
  16. Bad news. The game is tomorrow. Also Chase Field has a roof Yes, but I seem to recall that Chase is more of a hitter's park with the roof open and more neutral when closed. And I know the schedule. Been trying to figure out a way to get to a game, but it's just not going to happen this time out west.
  17. Jonesin' for a line up. Maddon needs to get these things up quicker. I guess I'll go look at stats and see how our guys are doing so far. I'm sad we aren't averaging a run per inning anymore, but Arizona baseball should help that. Although there appears to be weather there while the Cubs are in town. I did learn how to get games on my smart tv, but there was both lag and a bit of jittery screen. That's through a Roku streaming stick. I wonder if it would be better going through my computer with an HDMI cable. I only toyed with it for a short period of time since the games are on MLB EI.
  18. Jonesin' for a line up. Damn 7pm starts.
  19. I had his baseball card in many forms. he led the league in saves in '87 with a sweet ass beard. Saves were a relative novelty and nobody knew anything back then Without actually looking him up, i'm imagining it's Steve Bedrosian, and I think I remember him playing for the Cardinals and Braves, with his CY coming with the Braves as a closer?
  20. 7pm starts are awesome for us Californians. I'm so acclimated now that I feel a little bit annoyed I have to wait all the way until 7 p.m. for a sporting event. Yeah, I get what you are saying. But, there is generally something on starting as early as 4pm to bridge the gap. It's weird that 9 to 5 people on the west coast miss a good portion of their favorite team's games while they are touring the eastern half the continent. I love Sunday morning Bloody Marys at 9am while the pregame discussion kicks off for NFL weekends. I hated that in the days that I lived in Illinois, liquor stores didn't open until noon on Sunday and games started at noon, also. If you got too drunk on Saturday to save beer or remember to buy beer for Sunday, you missed the beginning of the game waiting for the clerk to lazily unlock the door so you could race in and race out. And standing there with the other poor souls with Bear's jersey's waiting for the door to be unlocked was just painful. And generally FREEZIN' ASS COLD.
  21. Yeah I usually stay up fairly late, but I still conked out in the 9th and missed the ending. I watched the game, drove home from the bar, watched BCS, Walking Dead season finale and the season finale of Fear the Walking Dead finale. Looking forward to some hockey and Cubs tonight. At least I think I'll see the hockey game. San Diego Cox cable always ties the first week of free MLB EI with the Hockey PPV package, as they share the same channels.
  22. he has a 3000 OPS for crying out loud Does it really matter who DH's? The Cubs will be facing the bullpen by the 3rd inning.
  23. Montero can DH today with Ross behind the plate. If we're sitting Schwarber because the pitcher is really good against lefties, why would we DH Montero? I'm trying to keep Szczur out of the line up, so leave me alone.
  24. Montero can DH today with Ross behind the plate.
