i'm sure it's nice, but i'm just as sure that it's not a top 3 golf course in florida....for $79 a round it may be top 3 in it's price range, but not overall. btw, what did you shoot? Well I guess the guy we were playing with lied then, but It was a steal with only paying $79 to play. I shot 93 I think...I'm not a good golfer, but I love playing...See I had to learn to hit righty cause I used handy-me-downs when I was younger instead of hitting lefty which I'm naturally left handed hitting...and I've just never gotten much better than I am right now because of that. Phil Mickelson says hang in there! He's actually a righty that plays golf left handed.
  2. I've already forgotten. What team drafted Veal?

Some of us can still play, it was 72 here yesterday. It's been in the '80's the last few weeks here. I went out on December 28th, January 12th (Valley Vista Country Club), January 15th (Salt Creek), playing Maderas (yeeeehaaaaw) next month, and many more dates scheduled. Oh, and I've DVR'd all 72 holes of the first two tournaments in Hawaii and am programmed to record all 5 days of the Bob Hope Classic.
  4. i didn't know he was from dunedin high...quite close to where i live I worked at the Winn-Dixie on Drew between Clearwater and Dunedin several years ago. Cubs scouts never noticed me. There really are Winn-Dixies? I assumed they were fictional. Winn-Dixie is more real than North Dakota. Fact.

  6. So am I. I thought the Cubs were going with somebody else because of cost. I would have loved having Hank back for that price. Guess he didn't like the lack of playing time.

  8. Nice to know the Padres plan on competing this year. That postseason experience will really come in handy. http://www.sbrforum.com/Headlines/MLB/73136.aspx That's rather hilarious.
  9. Guys I'd like to see breakout: Andrew Cashner Josh Vitters Tyler Colvin Mark Pawelek Grant Johnson Ryan Harvey
  10. Hope to see him at one of the local bars. I'd love to buy him a beer.
  11. I'm guessing Fukudome will turn things around as early as Spring Training. He's an ideal #2 hitter when he's going well.
  12. This thread was chosen because he saw you post in it and it's where you said your PMs didn't work. More than one mod noticed that there was an excess of pointless arguing(accomplishing nothing, cluttering up several threads, and toeing the line of personal attacks from both parties) that spans several pages in multiple threads, and you were a common denominator in most of them. Though it applies to anyone, if you find yourself 8-10 posts deep in an argument/discussion, it's a good idea to step back and see if you're actually still discussing the topic at hand and not just bickering tangent after tangent that doesn't do any good. No I agree, he should have just pointed it out in a thread that it was actually relevant. I also don'tl ike thatcubbieallthewayguy condemning me for other threads when I never did anything wrong in the thread he trashed me for it. He used it as a copout what the hell are you talking about? i replied to someone else effectively saying "i agree". shouldn't your issue be with the other person? so stupid. maybe the internet isn't for you. This is exactly what I'm talking about. You throw out lines like "so stupid. maybe the internet isn't for you", and i'm the one who is wrong. okay I disagreed with you when you said we should give Vitters no chance to be good, and instead of backing up your arugment, you instead claim I'm "aruging for the sake or arguing" because of other threads. Then some other guy comes in to insult me, again for other threads, and you join in with him.... when really I did nothing in that thread Stop using past threads to try and comdemn me or something just because I didn't agree with your post Oh look, more of the same Really at this point if someone said 2+2=5 and I said it was 4, it would be full of posts from you guys saying the same stuff just because you don't like me Just as you were asked to do with Wrigley23, please put each other on ignore. This is really the best option when it is clear you are not going to be able to get along.
  13. Seriously, why would that even matter? The grading scale between a good beat writer and a bad one has absolutely nothing to do with who can break a story first. cause i constantly see the "bruce what do you know about this" or "bruce has hendry said this" type of posts. when in reality, there's nothing to suggest that hendry tells him anything. i just dont get it. If you've followed Hendry's career as a GM, you'll see that Hendry doesn't really share the kind of information most of us are looking for (offseason moves, for example) with anyone. And if he were to share some of his inner most secrets, he would probably share them with Chicago Tribune writers, since the organization is/was owned by the Tribune. exactly my point. hence the not understanding of "bruce tell me what you know" that i see everywhere. Bruce was at the winter meetings. He basically had as much access to Cubs brass as anyone else that was there. Hence, the "Bruce, tell us what you know" posts. If you read his responses, they were as insightful or even more insightful than anything anyone else had to offer. He's the best beat writer in the Chicagoland area, and arguably one of the best within an extremely large radius of the Chicago area. I don't understand why you would question him or the people who like to ask him a question. And that's ignoring the fact he's one of the few people who work for a Chicagoland newspaper that actually posts here.

  15. You can still have the procedure done, but it probably won't correct your close range vision. You'll probably still need reading glasses. I'm getting closer to the day that I have the procedure done. I have it all. I'm nearsighted, I have astigmatism in each eye and my next doctor visit will require the purchase of bifocals. I've been wearing glasses for 21 years now. I lost my prescription sunglasses in Vegas in August, and that really sucks.

  17. Getting back on topic........ Even though yesterday would have been a great day to steal a certain White Sox fans thunder, today makes even more sense to announce a new Cub owner and complete a deal for Jake Peavy. Who's with me? Paging Bruce Miles. Bruce, you are my direct connection to Jim Hendry. Let Jim know that I approve of a Jake Peavy trade. I believe that is the only thing that's been holding up a deal.
  18. Wow! But, isn't Marcum currently on the shelf with some sort of arm ailment? Is it my imagination, or do guys who rely heavily on sliders tend to be more injury prone than others? In other words, what type of setbacks will the Cubs need to worry about with Jackson's future?
  19. Cool. That makes me invisible.
  20. Didn't Jerome have to deal with the loss of both of his parents at the same time in some horrific manner?
  21. wieters will probably be more valuable at first base than vitters will be at third base. and quicker, too. True. It would be nice to have a 1B ready to go when Lee's contract is over. I didn't know they panned on moving Wieters to first, I thought they were keeping him at catcher I'm surprised he's still behind the plate. I can't imagine squatting behind the plate for 9 innings and 135 games at 6'5" and 230 pounds. That's a rather large target. Mauer is about that size, and he hasn't exactly been a model of health.
  22. The story that was posted last page is one example, here's a quote from that article: Seems like an odd predicament for Dunn. If he only wants to play the OF, there aren't many teams willing to shell out big money for his poor defense/plus plate production. If he'd be willing to play 1b, I could imagine several teams willing to shell out big money for his ?? 1b defense/plus plate production. He may just have to accept a move to 1b whether he likes it or not.
  23. Sounds a bit like Matt Clement.
  24. My other plan was to hurry up and delete my not so private message once he read it, but he sorta disappeared.
  25. I can count at least 2 broken rules in the following post, but thanks for caring. I always know I can count on you, IMB.
