  1. Murton's chances of landing an a 25 man roster spot are looking dimmer with the latest news that Ian Stewart will get some time in left field. Not sure if I'm missing anyone from their current outfield crowd, but with Stewart, that makes it: Hawpe Ryan Spillborghs Carlos Gonzalez Seth Smith Ian Stewart Matt Murton Dexter Fowler probably won't start with the big club, but he's going to factor in sooner rather than later. Murton may need Helton to have another injury plagued season just to win the 5th outfield job.
  2. I think that goes for a lot of teams. If I was able to keep 2500 points, I would have been thrilled to keep BJ Upton or Milton Bradley, and come to think of it, I probably could have kept both.
  3. I'm still bitter that I had to be out of town the Wednesday through Monday the week I played your team in the playoffs. Nothing like not managing your team without a computer. The 26 point difference wouldn't have been that hard to make up if I didn't have an injured player not scoring for me.
  4. My team looks pretty similar to last year. My only pick so far just so happened to be my 1b last year, Carlos Pena. I only need 1 more position player. I'm really counting on the group of Carlos Carrasco, Max Scherzer, David Huff, Adam Miller and Neftali Feliz to step up and fill out my rotation. Latest news on Scherzer is that his shoulder hurts. Freakin' baby.
  5. so who's the other middle infielder? It will probably be someone who gets cut from their team right before the season starts. Utility infielders are a dime a dozen.
  6. I don't know about that. Most of your non exempt keepers had off years last year, and you should expect most of those guys to bounce back. I think what killed your momentum was Rich Hill.
  7. Look at previous years' draft results. The talent wasn't any better. Probably worse. Of course, I could just be bitter about last year because I drafted like complete crap. It probably has more to do with the fact that I only have one pick of the first 46. BJ Upton helped me finish in first place in the standings, but losing the 18th pick this year really hurts. Oh well. There must be a diamond in the rough there somewhere.
  8. I don't think they'd station a couple of hooligans outside the door to turn him away. He'd be just fine, and probably have the same amount of friends in the game as he does now while in the union. I would think that this would open the door for more players to get themselves kicked out of the union. The union would need to find another way to make an example of A-Rod without actually kicking him out. Besides the fact, he's their biggest monetary draw.
  9. At this point, I don't have a lot of faith that when he fixes it, that it will stay fixed. Is it me, or does it seem like this year's talent pool sucks?
  10. I won't be around much starting Friday night through Sunday. Oh, and I need to get started on my taxes sooner rather than later.
  11. I would imagine they would prefer something within the continental United States.
  12. I guess we'll just have to wait it out. I can't see any other solution that works.
  13. The Yankees must not be opening their season in the new ballpark.
  14. Yeah, count me in.
  15. Raw hasn't been on NSBB since before you all started discussing this extended draft stuff, which means Raw is completely in the dark that the draft started, unless he has checked his email or Roadkill. In other words, we be stalled.
  16. Since San Diego is one of the top 10 biggest cities in the US, and doesn't have a major league baseball team, I'd like to see a bunch of the MLB teams create spring training camps here. Let's start with the Cubs.
  17. but not until tim does all the trades again. Are you kidding me?
  18. Nice job beta testing the new draft software, CBS. It's junk. I had mine set to autodraft. Did it draft? My draft room won't load up right now. Anyway, while I was away eating dinner, it became my turn. I'm taking Carlos Pena.
  19. I don't see these latest draft picks as being picked. But, Raisin, Abuck and Don are all next and online right now, and I'm here, so the first round could get completed today.
  20. The draft appears to be suspended again.
  21. What I like about Soriano leading off, besides that the better hitters should be getting more at bats than the crappy hitters, is that it spreads out the power bats a little bit, and instead of having to wait until you get to the #3 hitter to drive in a bottom of the order guy, you have Soriano coming to the plate. How bad was it when the Cubs had crappy 7-8 hitters, and then the pitcher and then Corey Patterson and Neifi Perez hitting 1-2? Ugh! The Cubs already have plenty of power in the heart of the order, and enough of them are RH'd, so Soriano is just overkill. By having him hit at the top, he can continue scoring runs at a rate that is as good as the best lead off hitters throughout the league. And he gets more opportunities to drive in guys who get on base at the bottom of the order. Aaron Miles sure won't be doing that.
  22. Be happy to give you mine. Also, I don't want it to seem like everyone should autopick, but if you are going to be away for 8 hours and you have a good idea who you want to pick, set it to autopick so that the draft can continue moving. Realistically, it's moved along at a pretty decent clip today. But, I could see it slowing down to the point of aggravation.
  23. Maybe you could create a message that goes out to all the managers explaining how autopilot works and how to set it up so that they get the players they want.
  24. I can see that point of view and I would guess that is how Adam feels too. It does email you when its your turn. To be fair, I said I'm not sure I like this format. I'm willing to give it a go. I'm just expressing my opinions at this juncture. I understand that you get emailed when it's your turn, but that doesn't mean you are available to make a pick at that time. And if I'm not available for 15 hours or so when it is my turn, I don't want 15 managers getting upset with me because I wasn't around to make the pick when it does become my turn. I have a question that could resolve this, and one that many of us may or may not have known since this started so abrubtly. Will the autopilot make the pick right away for someone if they have them in their queue and set the draft on autopilot? Because if that's the case, I would think that setting the autopilot and placing your most preferred players at the top of your queue could make things speed up a bit.
  25. I'm not sure I like this format. I'm a very impatient person, but more towards the fact I don't like people waiting on me. I keep checking in just in case it's my turn, so that I can hurry up and pick, only to find nothing has happened. I guess what I don't like is the fact that my pick might be in an hour, or it might not come until Friday. Through my own fault, my next pick won't come until the end of round 3, so I can see this draft getting real boring.
