  1. Pretty sure he's won the back up job at the very least.
  2. I wonder if the Bears will be able to hide Wims on the practice squad for a season while White plays out the last year of his contract. I do like what Nagy is doing with this offense. It looks like Miller will be an immediate impact, and we've yet to see him line up in the slot with the actual starting receivers. I'm not real big on Gabriel, YET, but having Robinson, Miller, Burton and Cohen all on the field for the same play could create a lot of defensive nightmares, assuming the OLine can create some time for plays to develop.
  3. At least he won't be able to dong us to death in the playoffs.
  4. Shut up shut up shut up, don't spoil my long shot bet before I get a chance to place it Sure wish I would have placed a bet on the Golden Knights back in preseason. But, who buys a 500-1 pony in a season long race, then a best of 7 race and another best of 7 race and another best of 7 race? I saw where someone bet $400 at the Sportsbook at Westgate when the odds were 300/1, which that $120,000 would be the biggest hit to the casino if the Knights win.
  5. he looked smooth like Heyward on that catch.
  6. I'd call this a great decision by Pace, but it was really the only decision he could make given the knowledge of the situation. I hope he has a good year.
  7. Seems like it's just convenient to say they weren't going to take Nelson since he was no longer available to take. You also don't want to insult Roquan by saying you would have taken someone else if they were there with that pick.
  8. Sitton doesn't really fit the ZBS, and Sims, if nothing else, provides a steady presence and mentor for Shaheen, and in a smaller respect, Burton, who will likely split out wide quite a bit. Not thrilled with Sims being kept with his tag but I think it makes some sense. If Burton or Shaheen get hurt they'd be in big trouble. If you can get Sitton for one more year and Meredith passed his physical, this cuts down the serious need to fill those two holes, I think you still look for Sitton's replacement if the right guy is there, like Nelson. I like the Daniels pick, but I was really hoping they would get Landry in the 2nd.
  9. Nice couple of innings. Seems like the pitching is starting to get dialed in.
  10. I've been out of town for the last week. Did Farrell replace Butler? I remember seeing Butler headed to 10 day DL.
  11. I'd give a A-, but that's without knowing why he made some of the moves he did. I don't know why he kept Sims, but passed on Sitton. I'm guessing he let Meredith walk because of his medicals. My favorite move is keeping Fangio. He seems to get the best out of his guys. I like the coaching hire and the draft was quite solid, IMO, not only filling needs but getting guys that have a chance to make an impact right away. I'm a homer and get excited every new season, even though the reality is they don't stand much of a chance. Looking forward to seeing a competitive team out there again.
  12. I hope he's an ascending player/late bloomer. I'm guessing he's 4th or 5th WR competition with who we already have. I'm still holding out hope they can get Snead if he become available. I'd be okay with Dez Bryant or Jeremy Maclin, but they are both trending down. Maclin has been a FA for a month now and there are some pretty needy WR teams out there.
  13. Mark Sanchez tested postive for PED's. Good thing they moved on from Sanchez as the backup. Bears signed WR Bennie Fowler, formerly of the Denver Broncos.
  14. I'm sad about Meredith taking a walk, but if the Saints rescind their offer to Willie Snead, I would hope the Bears have interest in him. The Saints already have Ted Ginn and Michael Thomas. I'd really rather not see them have to spend early on a WR in the draft when they already signed two guys via free agency. Kevin White needs someone to battle for playing time.
  15. But Belgian nachos probably have raw herring and mayonnaise on them As it should! My nachos will have to be bean dip and hummus instead of cheese. I'm on a diet. My nachos might even be carrot sticks.
  16. Receivers that can spread the field. TE's that can catch. Running backs that won't be hamstringed by defenses stacking the box. A young qb with a offensive minded coach with successful NFL experience at play calling. I'm optimistic as hell. I'm imagining a 3rd and 5 where Cohen or Cunningham line up in the backfield, Burton and Shaheen at TE, Meredith and Robinson running 10-15 yard routes, and Trubisky has those 5 options to throw to or can run it right up the middle for easy first downs. I see dynamics at work for this offense that makes them good right away. ETA: Of course, this assumes Meredith is back on the roster later today.
  17. Today's start time meets up perfectly with my ride home from the golf course. 4pm starts are perfect.
  18. For a very long time, the Reds always were the first game of the MLB season. In 1982 the Cubs faced the Reds and Mario Soto. Bump Wills (son of Maury) deposited the first pitch of the MLB season over the fence. Incidentally, this was Ryne Sandberg’s first game as a Cub. Cubs went on to win 3-2 in 8 innings. The year I graduated from high school. So long ago, they didn't even play 9 innings back then. I remember Ryne going hitless for his first 1000 at bats, or so it seemed. Wasn't a whole lot to cheer about since they hadn't had a winning season in a decade. The excitement and eventual letdown of 1984 wasn't even a vision in 1982, but Jody Davis and Ryne Sandberg gave Cubs fans reason to be excited about the future.
  19. It was a rocket. Heyward barely got in at 2nd even on the relay.
  20. Giants are a mess. They've traded Pierre-Paul. They have Beckham on the trade block. They gave up on Eli last year. That team is basically in rebuild mode. So, I have them trading the 2nd pick on draft day. With that said, here's my mock where the Bears get their man. Cleveland- QB Giants pick traded ((Buffalo maybe?) QB If the Giants keep the #2 pick, then they might as well draft Manning's replacement- QB Jets- QB Cleveland- Chubb Denver- QB Indy- Barkley Tampa- Fitzpatrick Bears- Nelson
