  1. And now the Raiders outright released Bruce Irvin only days after the trade deadline. How popular is the Gruden signing now? I'm pretty sure you could hire a baboon to dismantle a football team. I'm just not so sure the baboon could dismantle as quickly as Gruden has. Irvin's high road parting speech won't sit well with the rest of the locker room.
  2. They'd be foolish to pass on San Diego's stadium if it's being offered. There are tons of Oakland fans here and they have a capacity over 60,000. UNLV has only 35,000 capacity.
  3. They traded away 2 1st rounders. Net gain of 1 extra first round pick. Likelihood that any of the 3 first rounders are Khalil Mack good? Not likely. Picks in the top 10? Their own. Bears and Dallas picks will likely be no better than late teens. In 7 seasons with Tampa, Gruden drafted 61 players and only 3 ever made a pro bowl. 2 guards and Aqib Talib. Talib didn't become a pro-bowler until he got to NE. Which 1st round picks did the Raiders trade away? Mack was two firsts, a third and a sixth for Mack, a second and a fifth and they got a first for Cooper. And don’t get me wrong, the Raiders are a disaster and a joke. They traded the first rounders Cooper and Mack. Cooper was a 4th overall and Mack was a 5th overall. And while Cooper hasn't been elite at any time, Mack most certainly has. Their net return on trading two first rounders is 3 first rounders. I don't include the 2nd first rounder from the Bears next year because I believe the first rounder next year won't be much more than 10-15 picks apart from the 2nd rounder they are sending back to the Bears. Oakland is on a path to be bad for the next few years as it seems Carr will have his contract declined this offseason, and it's possible the Raiders take a QB with their first pick. Any free agent or trade QB Gruden picks up would likely be nothing more than a placeholder for the rookie if Gruden goes in that direction. Do they even know where they are playing their football games next year? Once Oakland is in Vegas, things should settle down for them a little bit. But, this and next season are going to be UGLY.
  4. It’s cool. We’ve got 3 1st round picks in the draft next year and that’s basically the same as winning a Super Bowl.
  5. Cooper isn't even on a team in my 12 team fantasy league. Two other leagues people have attempted to trade me Amari Cooper for something of value. I declined the offers. I might scoop him up if he fits the Dallas offense better than Oakland, but Dallas giving up a first for him. WOW!
  6. I'm assuming the reason Cunningham ran the one particular ball out of the endzone was because it was only about a yard or two deep and his forward momentum in catching the ball might have brought him out anyway, and in a split second catching the ball, he decided to just do it. I didn't like him bringing that one out, either. As far as kicking into the endzone, neither team kicked it into the endzone on that end of the field that I recall. The Bears were returning kicks in the 1st and 3rd, and NE was returning kicks in the 2nd and 4th. It's also why the Bears went for it on 4th down when there was a 57 yard field goal opportunity in the 3rd. It was against the wind.
  7. he had a 50% completion percentage, 2 picks and 2 more shoulda been picks. You are right. He did deserve two more picks. However, the two picks that New England did get were pretty fluky.
  8. There was so much nonsense happening in that game that I could write a novel. The overthrows, Leonard Floyd covering James White one on one out of the backfield in the redzone with the Bears only rushing 3. An illegal formation call on your most basic Jordan Howard up the middle for a 2 yard td. Nagy's formations are so crazy that they can't even get the most basic running formation right without a penalty. The defense played terrible. Special teams played terrible. Trubisky played terrible. With all of that said, they still had a chance in that game and I still enjoyed seeing them put points on the board. But, they are still a huge work in progress. If Fangio doesn't find a defense to combat the short and quick plays, Detroit is going to make the Thanksgiving game painful to watch.
  9. Not digging this matchup at all. Miami dinked and dunked their way to victory against what was supposed to be a ferocious defense. NE is not only better at Miami's "Bears game plan", but they now have deep threats to mix in if the Bears do make adjustments on the short and quick game. Brady won't be sitting in the pocket waiting for the pass rush to neutralize him. Fuller and Prince are going to have to bring their "A" game. I guess the Bears will just need to outscore NE to win this one.
  10. I guess I also forgot to mention there wasn't a single holding call on the Miami offensive line in a game where I saw a lot of holding taking place. One was so blatantly obvious that I was 100% certain the play was going to be called back. Nope.
  11. Two of the biggest knowns going into this game was Miami couldn't stop the run and Osweiler is one of the worst QB's in NFL history against the blitz. The few times the Bears ran a blitz, Osweiler panicked and threw the ball away. The entire game, Miami focused on dumping the ball over the middle behind the line and the Bears never addressed it with zones, and even though blitzes were working, they didn't rush Osweiler enough to create more turnovers. Offensively, Howard was once again a non factor. Nagy refuses to let Howard be of any value to this offense. For a guy to work all offseason on his pass catching and then not get any balls tossed his way has to be very frustrating. And to also be an assumed main focus on offense running the ball up the middle and not even be in the lineup half the time on typical running play calls is going to create even more controversy in the locker room. Might as well trade him for something if you just aren't going to use him, even against one of the worst defenses against the run in the entire league.
  12. Yeah, I thought that was a pretty stupid comment, too. And I was actually hoping for ONE MORE miss.
  13. It seemed to me that there was a lot less gadgetry happening in the Tampa game even if there were two plays involving 2 QB's in the backfield. McCoy is a monster, as was Pierre-Paul at one time. Even with monsters in their front 7, Trubisky looked a lot more comfortable in the pocket in the Tampa game and the line gave him a lot more time to throw. The throws to Taylor Gabriel and Cohen seemed a lot more sensible in this game than the previous 3 games. There weren't as many tossed behind the line of scrimmage. Short crossing routes behind the LB's are what give this offense that extra dimension with the speed of Gabriel or Cohen able to create space on LB's. YAC is just a given if they work those plays 5 to 10 yards downfield rather than in the backfield. I don't think they have fully utilized Howard's newfound ability to catch the football yet, either. This offense has a chance to get really good, and really fast if Trubisky builds on his confidence from the Tampa game.
  14. Hate to see the depth take a hit, but I think one of Irving or Fitts is ready to step in. Both have been game day inactives more than once already this season.
  15. This trade just keeps looking better and better as the Bears win games that I'm quite certain Oakland thought for sure they would lose. The Bears have a chance to push that 1st draft pick in 2019 down into the 20's and maybe even the late 20's if they keep winning. So Mack for a late first round draft pick in 2019 and then dropping down maybe 15 places at most in 2020 with the 1st and 2nd round swap and a 3rd rounder is an absolute steal. I'm pretty sure Oakland believed all of the predictions that the Bears would be horrible this year and thought they would be getting a top 10 pick. Meanwhile Gruden keeps whining about not having a pass rush. Haha!
  16. I agree. There seemed to be a lot more confidence and accuracy in his throws last year.
  17. Chiefs look good too. Man, so jealous I want that type of QB on the Bears. I’m terrified that the Bears totally missed on Trubisky., Chiefs defense is a dumpster fire. They are the complete opposite of the Bears. The Rams might be the only complete team Peters and Talib both left that game with injuries. Not sure what level of injury, but the Peters injury looked significant.
  18. Happy for the win, but the offense did nothing to win that game. Nagy has been an absolute embarrassment on playcalling at this point. Trubisky has been horrible on throws and reads. Someone needs to point this out and fix the problem before next week. Seemed like (at least in the first half), every incomplete throw to Allen Robinson was when Peterson was covering him. There was one play where Trubisky went deep to Gabriel when Peterson was covering him. Why pick on the best CB in the league when there is ANYONE else to pick on? Did Peterson even give up a single completion last night? I didn't see one. The gadget plays need to stop. They aren't working. You wanna know when it's a good time to toss a gadget play in the playcalling scheme? When you are winning the game and the defense isn't able to handle the basic play calls. I get that Taylor Gabriel is fast and his talent is YAC, but the current behind the line of scrimmage screens to Gabriel take too long to develop and he isn't a power guy who can blast through defensive lines. You want Gabriel to have success at YAC, send him on a crossing route behind the front 7. Use him like the LIons use Golden Tate. If he's so fast, catch him in the flat where he's one on one with a LB or S rather than the remnants of the front 7. This team is built for 10-15 yard pass plays with the occasional toss down the field to keep the safety's on their toes. Anytime Robinson wasn't lined up with Peterson was a mismatch and that matchup was under utilized. The playcalling has been absolute horseshit. Maybe Nagy needs to give that gig up if this is the best he's got. The wasting of not one, but two timeouts to kick field goals was one of the biggest blunders of the day in a game you aren't winning. If you are going to waste a time out, get the offense to the line and try to draw the defense offsides before you call the damn thing. Do something other than stand there with your thumb up your butt. With that said, I'm still pretty mad about this game and the Bears won. I'm mad because this team has a chance to be good and the offense looks like amateurs out there and there are too many playmakers on this offense to look like amateurs. Hopefully the Prince injury isn't bad. We are gonna need him against Fitzpatrick and those WR's.
  19. Do we remember the Bradford game last year? It was fun (the Bradford part, not the losing the game part). It was also the last time he saw the field in 2017. 2 weeks, two opposing QB's on the injury report. Pretty sure Bradford is having some sleepless nights this week.
  20. Trubisky is going to be awesome. Just not sure when.........
  21. I'm hoping it was just stagefright from Mitch playing in this new offense. He sure looked scared. Chase Daniel looked pretty poised in preseason because he is well versed on this offense. Daniel was making plays anywhere on the field, and he was tossing it to the 2nd stringers. This offense has too many weapons to not be good. The first set of called plays was fun because it threw the defense off. After that, it should have just been Jordan Howard, Jordan Howard and Jordan Howard. Shove him down the defenses throat. That Mr. Howard is now a threat on screens should have made this an easy victory with Rodgers possibly leaving the game with the Bears up much bigger than they already were. 10 yard passes should be open all day long with the linebackers cheating the line to support the run defense that the Bears are throwing at them.
  22. That RT has to be sick to his stomach having to deal with Von Miller in week 1 and Khalil Mack in week 2.
  23. No one was open because the plays Nagy was calling took too long to get someone open, and Trubisky looked rattled anytime he held the football longer than 2 seconds. Crossing patterns in the middle of the field are almost always open and with the TE heavy schemes that Nagy is calling, Burton should have had close to 10 catches in the 10-15 yard range. There were just too many unknowns since they haven't played together and it showed. I think they will make adjustments, but it was a shame that they didn't look to get the main guys Robinson and Burton more involved in the passing game with routes that could have created more success.
  24. Jordan was very effective on the ground. They should have continued the smash mouth football while also taking more advantage of Howard's new ability to catch screen passes. Nagy went with a very conservative play calling scheme with gadget plays that seemed to create confusion even for the offense. I'm fine with one of those plays once in awhile, but spreading the field is how the running game has a better chance of succeeding. I expected Trey Burton to lead the team in catches and he wasn't targeted much. He dropped some balls and that didn't help, but Trubisky needs to be turned loose on looking downfield. There should have been a lot more passes in the middle of the field, but it didn't appear that Nagy had anyone running short routes in the middle of the field. It felt like everything was a pass at the line of scrimmage to throwing it deep. Where was the in between stuff? Lining up Cohen and/or Gabriel in the slots on each side of the field and dumping a screen to one of those guys coming across the middle behind the front 7 should have been a play that could have netted a lot of yards after the catch. Those guys can outrun anyone. Give them an opportunity to do that. Utilize these guys to their talents.
  25. Seems like Coward could be getting groomed to take over RT. That would be a cheap replacement option at that position. They certainly aren't drafting a top RT and they won't have the money to spend on a top FA RT. Transitioning to RT in one offseason and earning a roster spot is pretty impressive.
