  1. Don't know, Goony.
  2. She's also not trolling on here like someone who would pretend to be someone they are not just to get a rise out of people. This site has become quite popular. Roster moves have been announced before they became public knowledge. People of importance post here occasionally. NSBB has gotten some air time on WGN by Len and Bob. There are minor league family members posting here. There are minor league broadcasters posting here. We'd probably be amazed at some of the people who read (lurk) this board, even it only periodically. I just see zero reason to call people out unless they post something that really deserves calling out. RedIvyCub's posts have been pretty harmless. When she posts that Lou and Hendry are sleeping together, maybe then I'll get alarmed.
  3. Cedeno is definitely the best option and he'd probably already be here if it weren't for Izturis. That guy needs to be traded BAD. Today would be a good day for that. Yesterday would be even better.
  4. Well, I was referring to being respectful of other posters on NSBB, which is in the member guidelines. We all do a pretty good job of ripping players, management, brass and beat reporters, etc.... :P
  5. Based on her posting history, I haven't seen any reason to believe she is pretending to have inside information or sources. I'm giving her the benefit out the doubt. From other threads I've read, it sounds like there are lots of management people within the Cubs organization and its affiliations that check out NSBB routinely (mostly lurking), why chase them off? As much as I like to hear myself talk, if I had an important position within the ranks of the Cubs organization, I'd probably have a tough time staying off message boards while attempting to remain anonymous. If your employment (and working for the Cubs in any capacity would be an awesome job) depended on your anonymity and protecting insider knowledge, I don't think NSBB or any other message board exposure would be worth losing my job over.
  6. respectful is the key, I don't think it always is I've always just viewed her responses as defensive.
  7. And your point would be? If we all had the same identical substantiated bits of drivel, there wouldn't be a whole lot to say here, would there? People have the right to remain anonymous (myself included) and they have the right to form their own opinions. As long as it's respectful, who cares?
  8. She has expressed in other threads that she prefers (and likely for employment's sake) to stay anonymous. My issue with some of these beat writers is that it's just the same drivel on a different day. What Bruce Miles has done is embrace new statistics for defining a players worth, team value, etc.... I had a job that I perfected my craft once and technology passed me by like a ship in the night. That's what you have with the Sullivan's and Muskat's of the world. Sure, because of who they work for, they do have to tow the company line, but other than being creative at forming sentences, they don't supply anymore talent than half the people who post in this forum. And I actually prefer to read half the people in this forum rather than Sullivan or Muskat. Actually, I don't read Muskat at all anymore. I value my time much more than that. Bruce gets the respect he deserves around here because he understands that Neifi Perez should not bat first, ever. He knows what OBP is. He has made advances to improve his knowledge of the game and share that knowledge with his readership. I don't mind it if someone wants to defend Carrie or Paul's creative writing skills, but no one should get upset at people who basically see their columns as "seen one, seen 'em all". That would be me.
  9. With all the talk about the Cubs doing something at the trade deadline, I wonder if the Brewers will do something to counter any moves by the Cubs? I actually like the Brewers team. It's the kind of team I've been hoping the Cubs would put together. Build the team from within and fill holes with complementary young veterans. It should be a fun race the rest of the way.
  10. Yeah, not exactly a game Lou should write home about.
  11. When you see a pitcher hasn't got anything, why do you continue to run him out there. Ervin Santana was bad from the first inning through the 6th. They could have gotten him out of there with minimal damage, but no. He was super lucky to make it into the 4th only giving up 2 runs, but it was obvious he wasn't fooling anyone. How do you like this line: 6 IP, 14 hits, 4 walks, 7 ER That's a 3.00 WHIP Why would you let a guy go that long before pulling him?
  12. Actually, there are two people on NSBB that are fans of the Royals, or at least follow them. I believe Coach C and Don Kessinger Was Good.
  13. On a related note, why on earth were there like 20 guys all dressed in blue to go clean up the mess? I hope it was the grounds crew. I'd hate to think they had 20 guys all standing around game after game waiting for the field to get littered with trash.
  14. 'bout time he gets his head out of his ass. I was growing quite impatient. :D
  15. Cool. By my calculation, that's Henry Blanco money. Any chance we could trade Blanco, Hill and Kendall for a starting catcher? I'd rather have Piazza.
  16. Actually, it could be done. Juan or someone else could go in and sign each guy and then turn around and drop them again within a week of the draft date. Then each guy goes in and puts in a claim on each guy they want, and players are selected based on waiver order. Only problem is everyone would know what players are available based on the transactions made to put the players on waivers and Juan would have to dig them all up to make them waiver players. :D But hey, I'd love it.
  17. What I did was send a PM to Juan that listed the players I was interested in, and in the order in which I would want them if they are available at my turn to pick. I also specified how many I was willing to pick up and who I would drop if I get any of the requested players. Of course, I went into a bit more detail because I won't be in town during the waiver process.
  18. Hard to say. They are always looking to dump payroll. Yunel Escobar hasn't been horrible filling in where needed. If they felt they could improve the team elsewhere, it wouldn't be a huge shocker. But, the likelihood decreases the longer they stay in the thick of things. Other teams (especially the AL) could potentially offer more for Renteria, however.
  19. I did. But, it was mentioned in an existing thread.
  20. I'm sure Lilly and Fontenot would like to have some speaks with him. And once they speak, all will be just fine.
  21. I'm hoping the same thing. I would hope that they could make a trade rather than send someone down in return for bringing up Petrick.
  22. A lot of teams are waiting out the next few weeks to see if they will be buyers or sellers. I'm hoping the Braves dump over the next two weeks and make Renteria available.
  23. Cubs pitchers need to start throwing at the ribs of all star outfielders in the playoff hunt. That will help us move Jones. :D Seriously, I think Jones, Eyre and Izturis will be moved at the deadline. Some team will want these guys, but who really knows why?
  24. Wait, so you say that getting DeRosa "was a buy high move" then suggest Ray Durham. You know, the same Durham who had a career year in 2006. Oh, and Durham is three years older and was going to cost a few million more than DeRosa. So how was getting DeRosa buying high but Durham wouldn't be? because durham had already put together a solid career. derosa was a bench player before last year. it may have been buying high, but in all likelihood you were going to get a good player out of it. Giles was the only buy-low guy available last year, and he was non-tendered long after Derosa was signed. Plus, he was nearly a sure-fire thing to go to San Diego. Loretta was a buy low guy as well.
