  1. They have good teams maybe? Nah forget it...I'll just let you guys have this thread.
  2. Judging by name he's probably in porn.
  3. How is that realistic? Realistically, the Brewers and Astros are better than the Cubs w/out Lee, Wood, and Prior. If that weren't the case, you probably would have finished higher than them each of the last two years.
  4. How dare you spout that logic Rocket. How dare you. What exactly do you guys think you'd do with Pierre if you brought Pie up? Bench him? Trade him? You gave up an awful lot to get a bench guy. Pierre has sucked so far this year, and some people are having a hard time accepting that because he was supposed to be the missing piece. He is what he is: Someone who when he gets on base can create havoc but doesn't have any power so relies on mostly luck for his groundballs to find holes in the infield. If he swung harder early in the count, he might be able to generate more gap/outfield power (IE - Ichiro) thus increasing his obp by being more selective at what he swings at (pitches he can hit harder as opposed to slapping wood on the ball and grounding out).
  5. Congrats on the Maddux start, Badger.
  6. You traded ARam because nobody would take Kris Benson's ridiculous contract/crappy pitching and you guys couldn't afford to pay everyone.
  7. I have a feeling its wolf stasson tryin to play a trick on poor vance :P It's me, but I'm not playing tricks. I really, really want one of those.
  8. Mike scott is funny. Sweep = Sweep. We had some excuses, Astros fans, I'm sure, have theirs. None of them matter.
  9. This isn't about the Wolf. This is about the tire spinning that is this thread. i was just messing around. Me too. I don't often refer to myself as the wolf.
  10. This isn't about the Wolf. This is about the tire spinning that is this thread.
  11. In my opinion, this thread is just a bad idea. Trying to point the hypocrisy to one team's fans by pointing out that "your guy does it too (Jacque, A-Ram, Lee, Z, whoever) so why do you get mad when our guy does it (Edmonds, Pujols, Tony, whoever else you can think of)" is just pointless. Nobody is going to concede anything here.
  12. What is the deal with all the anger lately. People can't discuss anything without it getting negative. I think people are identifying with their team's emotionally a little more than healthy. This is entertainment people, not life.
  13. So...what? Like a few times a game? Umpires are fallable. The calls against the Cubs resonate in your mind because you are a Cubs fan. The calls for the Cubs do not because you think that is the way they should be. BTW - Pavlov came up with the concept of conditional reflexes. Things that are as much physiological as they are psychological. What you are talking about is sunconscious bias: more Freudian or Jungian than Pavlovian who wasn't even a psychologist.
  14. I think Ozzie is overrated (blasphemy I know) because of the good teams he was on. Also the acrobatics and the fact that "whitey ball" made a lasting impact on the game and he was a part of it. I agree that Ozzie getting in means Omar should.
  15. Lucky. If you want to do the work, figure out by what measure of improvement Cardinals FA signees experience as opposed to the FA signees of similar skill sets and salary that go to other teams. I'm willing to bet it's not much different.
  16. Wow. That is ridiculous paranoia. So you're saying that these umpires who more than likely could care less about the Cubs or the Cards have a deeply ingrained bias towards the Cards due to the history of the two teams? That is preposterous. In no way is that elementary psychology there Freud. But if you want to get technical and psychoanalyze this we can: What is elementary psychology is the inferiority complex being displayed in this thread. What some of you are exhibiting is known as "cultural cringe" which is an inferiority complex that exists throughout members of a group or entire culture. Inferiority complexes lead to neurosis in many cases. Neurosis is a mental imbalance that leads to distress and anxiety (IE - paranoia: the umps, media, and Tony LaRussa are out to get us/Maddux) but doesn't interfere with the person's ability to function in everyday life. That being said, I think all of this does not apply. I think some of you are just taking this incident far too seriously.
  17. Some of you are starting to sound like a lof Cardinals fans I know. They suffer from big city envy and apparently you are jealous of some sort of conspiratorial favoritism from umpires, the team's ability to coax decent years out of crappy players (which I think is more exaggerated than realistic), and Albert Pujols being really good and really young.
  18. Exactly. Maddux knew what they were doing. He knew they couldn't stop him on the field so they were trying the gamesmanship. I just don't think it is such a travesty like some of you do. I don't think it is bad sportsmanship, I don't think it is a "dick" thing to do, and I'm not just saying this because I'm a Cardinals fan. I think it's part of the game.
  19. Here is the score: Tony is a dick. Maddux was making the Cardinal hitters look useless. So what does he do? He resorts to the lowest sophomoric tactics one can think of. Then the other dick (Edmonds) takes a page from Tony's book and does it again. So? That's not my point. My point is that it happens all over baseball and people are acting like it is exclusive to LaRussa and the Cardinals. This kind of stuff has been going on in baseball for 100+ years. It's a non issue. Get over it. Maddux didn't get his feelings hurt, just some of you apparently.
  20. ??? The master plan is for ballpark village to be built and that will cover the majority of the parking garage...Rome was not built in a day. They should break ground the end of this year with the first phase being completed before the 2009 All Star game St. Louis is hoping for. And they will continue to be complained about until the village is built.
  21. He needs at the very least 3 more years of production like 2000-2004 and with his age and aggressive style of play taking it's toll I don't think there is any way he will or should get in.
  22. You guys are funny. Here's the score for everyone who is scoring at home but is unable to look at anything unbiased: The Cubs and Cardinals are both guilty of throwing at each other's batters. Both managers pull this crap with opposing pitchers. Last year I thought Dusty was going to charge the mound on Carp. Insinuating that Tony promotes steroid use among his players is ludicrous. Acting like this issue between Tony and Maddux is a big deal is dumb. It's not. It's a result of a bunch of you people hating Tony. Nothing more.
  23. Yeah, the parking decks are becoming a point of contention.
  24. No way brah. Alabama boiled peanuts all the way. And like I said, Cajunfied is your best bet.
  25. lol at the sensitivity. I wasn't accusing Maddux of anything. Since when is it such an issue when an opposing manager and player participate in a little gamesmanship when an opposing pitcher is on a role? It's part of the game. Greg was making people look foolish so they tried to slow him down and get in his head. It won't work on a guy like Maddux but you might as well try. It's the same stuff that Dusty pulls when he yells at Carpenter out on the mound. So I guess the days of mass Maddux hate threads are over for now at NSBB?
