  1. Go with my guy, Bulger. When healthy he can be a top 5 fantasy QB. I don't think there will be much of a lag in his mastering of the new offense. Plus with Holt, Bruce, Curtis, MacDonald, Klopenstein, Jackson, and Davis he has plenty of weapons.
  2. Yeah, because I had two things I wanted to say. I didnt know it was against the law to do something like that. There's no law against it. There are also no laws against hitting the enter key and just making a new paragraph for a new point.
  3. Unfortunately, the economic reality of baseball is that Aces get 5 year deals. Not even aces per say; just guys with ace potential. It's going to suck when Carpenter becomes a FA, because unlike Oswalt and Z; he is old. He'll get a long term deal from somebody, but he shouldn't get more than a 3 year deal. Hopefully he'll settle for a hometown discount. At least with Zambrano or Oswalt, you know they have a reasonably good chance of maintaining close to their current performance.
  4. Juan E. in center in 07? It wouldn't shock me. What are you? Drunk? lol because you are.
  5. I agree with you. The Cubs honestly don't have to look drastically different. A healthy Lee, a possibly healthy Prior, further-developed Hill and a #2 starter could contend for the Central. Unless something happens in the offseason that is unexpected, the Central will be very winnable next year to the Cubs, Cards, Brewers, Reds, and possibly Astros (sorry Jake). I don't have much faith in Cardinals ownership to do anything worth a damn, and I think Hendry has something to prove.
  6. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us/sp/v/ncaaf/teams/1/50x50c/aam.gif Arizona State 35, Northern Arizon 14 BOX ASU once again has more trouble early than they rightly should against NAU. They got it together and score 21 in the 4th make it look more respectable than last year. Once again the secondary couldn't stop an armless QB from lighting them up downfield. Murietta or whatever his name is threw for 273 on 17-22 with 2td's and 1int. Fantastic. What's going to happen against Oregon, USC, Cal, UCLA, or AU? Broken scoreboards, that's what. On the bright side, Carpenter looked great, Burgess and the receivers looked great, the defense destroyed their running game (division 1-AA designation be damned), and the offense rushed for 154 on 4.5 per carry. Basically, ASU looks a lot like they did last year. Well I don't really know how they look, I followed via ESPN game cast while watching the Cardinals game. Let me tell you they read a lot like last year's team on a box score though.
  7. You just quote the same thing in two separate posts with two separate responses.
  8. B&?
  9. If true, I think Outshined and I deserve kudos for calling it. Vance was pretty vocal in his belief that Mulder's hip injury would hurt him in the long run as well.
  10. Ever since Edmonds made the negative comment about the organization and their willingness to discuss his option during the season, Tony has been making snide comments about him.
  11. Speculation is that the ineffectiveness and injury is due to pitching hurt combined with a lot of use. It hasn't just been over work of his arm, but his relatively high work load at a young age combined with his major hip injury and coming back fast from it caused a mechanical break down which led to the shoulder injury.
  12. The Diamondbacks feel differently. I'll still take the Dodgers. The Diamondbacks are ridiculously loaded with talent. The only reason I'd take the Dodgers is because I have more faith in their GM and their payroll.
  13. No. He got more money than he deserved. If you want to make a "what if" jab then just stick with what works... Mulder for Haren, Calero, and Barton. It says it all.
  14. Yeah, this whole debacle has been Prior/Woodesque. Coming back too fast, not knowing exactly what is wrong, etc.
  15. That slider is ridiculous. If he continues his consistent control, he'd be a good closer.
  16. Don't forget to thank Matt Morris and the Giants! Grizzly Adams did come up big for his old ball club.
  17. Thanks, Cubs and Reds.
  18. Whoever I argued with at the beginning of the season that Brandon Webb would never contend for the Cy Young should feel free to step forward so I can recognize their superiority.
  19. I think Jocketty has done a terrible job this year. He has had the core of Rolen, Pujols, Edmonds, and Carpenter so hasn't had to much retooling. Instead of actually making good moves, he's gambled with underperforming bandaid's and it's not biting him in the ass. Those aren't moves that win you a championship. Who knows how many years are left in the window of opportunity for the Pujols/Rolen/Carpenter core?
  20. In an article in the stl post-dispatch that is due to be up tomorrow, owner Bill DeWitt said this: http://www.stltoday.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=386172 Somewhere around 18 mil is coming off the books. We have one starter signed other than Reyes and Wainright (Carpenter), no 2b, a 10 mil option w/a 3 mil buy out on Edmonds, and a myriad of mediocre relievers.
  21. For those who have forgotten, Walt Jocketty's acquisitions: Sidney Ponson, Junior Spivey, Timo Perez, Jeff Weaver, Preston Wilson, Larry Bigbie and Aaron Miles. Let me know if I left any crappy bandaid acquisitions out of my list. Lame.
  22. I agree. Not getting out is waaaay lame. Yeah man. Every fantasy league I've ever played in has obp as a stat. Oh wait, no league I've ever played in has that as a stat. Never mind. A bunch nerds like the fantasy geeks you talked about use computers to research crap like medicine, science, and technology. I don't have a lot of use for that stuff. If I get constant headaches, I'm not gonna go get a "CT Scan." If I have horrible vision, I'm not going to get "laser surgery." Basically, everything that I need to know, I learned when I was 6. Everything else is frivolous gobbily-[expletive] that can't in any way educate me further on a subject I'm interested or teach me anything of value that would help me along in life. Critical thinking is almost as lame as not getting out in baseball. Almost.
