  1. Today was the first game I've gotten to see of the new-look Bulls. Someone please tell me if anything is just small sample size and I'm way off. I like this team better than the team earlier this season, but it is still no good. Hughes - Jalen Rose jr. You can't have Hughes and Gordon playing major minutes and taking a lot of shots for the same team. A good scorer, I don't want him on the Bulls. Gooden - He seems like he is really psyched to be on a team where he thinks he is a top dog. Problem is, he is definitely not a top dog. A good front court contributor but took too many deep jumpers and put the ball on the ground too much. The team is still without an identity. I don't like the direction they seem to be going which is, basically, a holding pattern. Like Golden State before Baron Davis resurrected his career. Not a lot of d, no go-to guy on offense, fast break offense, etc.

  5. Wading through 6 pages looking for players is lame. We need a master list. Mizzou's picks stand and since I don't want to go through that gigantic list I'm gonna pick blind again. Travis Hafner Curtis Granderson

  7. you really think most NFL HoF running backs are guys who were not workhorse RBs in college? I'm saying your examples don't matter. For every hall of fame college running back who was a work horse in school, there are way more guys who burn out faster because of the wear and tear. Also, who is to say that your examples wouldn't have lasted another two or three years if they had Mendenhall's decreased work load in college? What we know - carrying the ball more increases injury risk and fatigue. You can't look at other players to predict what will happen to someone. Way too many variables. All you can do is say that at this stage in their careers, Mendenhall's body has much less wear and tear. It's possible McFadden will spend the next 12 years racking up 1500 yard seasons and dominating the NFL. Due to his playing history, however, he will end his career much earlier than he would have if he had Mendenhall's playing history (barring freak injuries). If you are buying two cars of similar make, model and specs, the one with fewer miles should last longer. Please note that I have not once said Mendenhall is the better player or prospect. I am just pointing out that it isn't as clear a slam dunk as it would seem.
  8. tomlinson had about 1000 touches at tcu. thurman thomas had 900 carries at ok state. emmitt smith had 700 at florida. having a lot of college carries, i think, doesn't necessarily mean that one is going to have a shortened nfl career. i think this calls for a poll! 3 hall of famers, who are probably the exceptions to the rule.
  9. Fwiw McFadden - 785 carries in 3 seasons. Mendenhall - 388 in 3 seasons. That is a lot less mileage. Mendenhall also had a better ypc.
  10. i don't buy that. if they can stay healthy at key positions, they can win the north. every team has holes, every team has injuries. this bear team has enough talent to compete. i'd like to see them re-sign briggs and move that line around a bit, but i'm not writing next season off by any means. I agree. They aren't that different from the 06 team.
  11. Who actually wants to watch a super defensive, fundamental matchup anyway? I don't want And 1 or whatever, but give me the Suns or Lakers over the Spurs or Pistons any day.
  12. The correct answer is ground beef, refried beans, guacamole, cheese, tortilla chips, sour cream and salsa.
  13. see that is your problem. i'd imagine that if i were on the field with them, i'd bring a gun or at least a two-by-four. i'd get 'em on the ground. I see now that I'm bringing a losing attitude to the field and am doomed to failure.
  14. Teams. I didn't ask which player teams were going to be more intimidated by. I asked who would you, the guy sitting on an office swivel chair, rather tackle. no, you said "who would you rather try to tackle?" i think most nfl players would rather try to tackle ron dayne than, say, barry sanders in his prime. I asked "you" as in, members of this board. Truffle, you aren't an NFL player. You're a weather man. I'm not an NFL player either. I'm not tackling either of these dudes. I have zero chance one-on-one to bring them down. That said, I'd rather try to do it against the guy who has about 25 pounds less muscle running into me. Velocity and mass and what not. I'm going to get blown by either way, I'd rather have some run by me than through me. My good natured, off hand comment had zero to do with who will be a better player or who would a defense rather face. Way to over think it though.
  15. Dude, I'm not saying McFadden won't be awesome, I'm just saying Mendenhall is more intimidating.
  16. Future Bear, Rashard Mendenhall, who went for 150 and 3 td's against your guys.
  17. Who would you rather try to tackle? http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y274/krkhinrich/mcfaddenhasskinnylegs.jpg
  18. Looks like he was trying to a Hancock LOL.
  19. Heartbreaker, Seth. I thought you had 3 points in the bag.

  22. Good lord, that's expensive! They must think they are a scorer away from a run. That is some freakin fire power.
  23. 73. Dan Uggla 74. Gary Sheffield
  24. I could easily see Chelsea and Liverpool dropping out of the top 4 and Spurs and Everton/Villa getting in. Oscar De La Hoya is buying the controlling stake of Houston Dynamo. That's pretty cool.
  25. boo! though i can't really say i'm upset about losing the league cup. Spurs absolutely had to have it to get into Europe. They aren't going to qualify via the league. You have to like the direction they are going under Ramos, though. Very Aresenal-like. Sadly enough, I think that was our best chance at silverware this year.
