    the seventh inning stretch thing has become a train wreck far too often. It 's not even entertaining anymore. Play a tape of harry or get Santo to do it every time either can be replaced by very special guests like Bill Murray at anytime it seems appropriate. DONE!

    Just a question (purely in the abstract) but is it possible that most batters just hit some pitchers better or worse than they hit other pitchers? Granted the sample size is small (and that is probably the most influential element here) but i don't think it is unreasonable to think that some players het some pitchers better than thier career averages. Also, how do career stats help evaluate a hitter or pitcher who figures something out along the way in his career? I am thinking of the player we recently aquired that credited getting his ADD under control for improving his performance (was that EYRE?). I wonder how often we don't hear about something that a player figures out that improves his performance but time has not allowed it to effect is career numbers yet. And by the time it does, we are talking about history.

    In the last game, the Cubs got spanked. Time to spank back. In other news, Glen"done" Rusch was seen sweeping the stands after his last, embarrasing outing. He looks to rest his neck after all the neck snapping homers he gave up. Greg Maddux vows to show Rusch how to be a pitcher and not a belly-itcher. LET'S GO CUBS!!!

    So how noticable was the chair backs that were apparently painted on the wall of the dugout to make it look like players were sitting in chairs? Did anyone notice?

    I have been in and out all game, have either radio or TV announcers referred to them as the "Bud Light" Bleachers at all (like on Lee's dinger?) *Swordsman crosses his fingers, shuts his eyes and rocks back and forth chanting "Please say no! Please say no! Please say no!"*

    Holding over hitting streaks from year to year is lame.

    It's just like the logging companies who plant 2 trees for every 1 they cut down. It seems as though the Cubs have been doing the opposite. Novoa, Moore and Flowers for Farnsworth. Blackford and Burrows for Hollandsworth. Two guys for Welly. Whomever for Remlinger. Does it matter? Yeah, I know about Mitre, Nolasco and Pinto for Pierre, but the Cubs have added to the system as they've gone. Some of the moves may turn out to be nothing for nothing, but Murton doesn't look to be a bad catch at this point. He may end up being the best guy that changed hands during that four-team deal. I'd say he already is. :D Barring catastrophic occurrences of course *knock on wood* Anybody touches Wood with anything (epecially knocking on him) and they'll have a whole bunch of Cubs fans to answer to. Everyone keep your hands off Wood!!!

    I'm not sure what to make of this idea. On the one hand, Barry definitely deserves to have his records expunged, but on the other hand, so do other steroid users who we don't know about yet and possibly never will. It wouldn't be acceptable to chase one guy in particular when there are dozens who are guilty. In my opinion, baseball built this mountain for themselves and now they're going to have a heck of a time climbing it. I'm not sure I buy your logic. If a group of ten guys are robbing a liquor store and I catch one of them 'cus I can see their face on the security camera, I shouldn't prosocute him fully because the other 9 got away? Now granted, in the real world the one guy would be offered a plea to flip on the others, but removing that option for a minute where is the justification for letting the one guy off?

    Do we have any evidence that Greg is any good at teaching/instructing/coaching? Sometimes guys are gifted with talent and a keen mind but cannot really help others use their own gifts or help them get better. I know people were calling him "The Professor" when he came back to the Cubs but I just wonder if his ability to influence younger ptichers in the clubhouse isn't more by example than actual instruction or coaching.
