  1. maybe the camera adds 10 pounds. how many cameras are on him? That is my Friends quote of the day.
  2. So how are all these people saying they've seen it when the rules clearly state that you can't?
  3. You have a relief pitcher in the game. He is doing well and you hate to take him out for the next one batter he traditionally has trouble with but another pitcher in your pen owns. Could you move the current pitcher to an outfield position for the next batter and them move him back to the mound for subsequent batters?
  4. According to the Sun Times today they are or at least were. What I can't tell is is this starting a rumor or squashing one?
  5. Swordsman will start whatever game he is given.
  6. Well folks, I know I withdrew this offer because we had found a taker. Well, a different part of the group dropped out today due to personal financial reasons and so the original post is again available. The urgency is even higher though because today was the deadline to pay and according to the Cubs we only have a few day grace period. If you are interested, please PM me or post in this thread.
  7. Hello again, I just wanted to let everyone know that I found a taker for the fourth group in my season ticket cabal. Thanks to those who expressed interest. If I have another vacancy, I'll let you all know. -Sword
  8. Hey my parents are one of the other groups and they are getting up there in age. 5 years may be too long in fact. BTW if more than one person wants to pool their resources and buy the 1/4 share, that is cool too. Organize yourselves and pick a responsible representative and you can be in. I am not interested in dividing the tickets more than four ways, but I don't care how you want to divided your 1/4 between yourselves. Just a thought but you have got to hurry.
  9. I should point out that I am taking no premium for these tickets. That is the price of 1 ticket for the nights and weekends package for an Outfiled Upper Deck Box.
  10. Actually the seats give you a great view of the ball park, you can judge fly balls very well and you feel like you are right on top of the field. You maybe cannot call balls and strikes but they already have a person who does that. Oh, and the seats are closer to the game than, say the 7,000 people on the waiting list for season tickets. I'm offering a way to get in front of all those folks.
  11. Hello all. I am a part of a group of 4 that own 4 season tickets to the Cubs (sec 404 row 4 seats 1-4) Nights and Weekends Package. One of the parties in our group has dropped out and we are looking for someone to replace them. The cost is $2,056 and I would be happy to talk with anyone who is interested about the details. Feel free to respond here or PM me. I need a decision (and the money) very soon as we need to pay for the tickets on Monday January 16th. Thanks
  12. The Cubs have three levels of season tickets Full season - 81 games Nights and Weekends - 55 games this year Double Play - 15 games (all Wednesday and Friday afternoon games except opening day). of course they also have a waiting list of 7000.
  13. Macbeth: it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing.
  14. Looks like you just got yourself an assignment: find a similar article about Murton. :D From earlier in this very thread and NSBB's very own Q&A with Mr. Murton himself:
  15. I think Juan's nickname already is "Wheels". I read that somewhere...Trib I think. Yeah here it is.
  16. I refer you to my previous post that discusses his ADD and how he credits getting a drug that helps him with it with turning his career around. It could be that he bucks the trend of people falling after having a career year. It seems he actually has somthing he can point to that has made a difference for him.
  17. Forgive me if this has already been discussed in this thread but did anyone else see this article in the Sun-Times? Cubs' latest signing has an Eyre of durability Interesting note: Perhaps he is one who figured something out later in his career.
  18. (swordsman sneaks into the conversation and rolls in a grenade...) You can't measure what makes something pornography either, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. (swordsman slinks out and runs for cover.)
  19. I realize that as Cubs fans, we're all hurting and jealous of the Sox' recent success. But could we please limit the amount of socioeconomic rips on people from the South Side? These references to "ghetto trash", cocaine and meth use/fabrication, and gun usage make me embarrassed right now to be a Cubs fan. This comes across as elitist, classist, and racist. I have no problem with hating Sox fans because they're rooting for what we believe is the wrong team, but to do so simply because they generally don't live in the nicest area of Chicago is prejudicial and uncalled for. =D>
  20. Does anyone else take even the lest bit of solice that for the season we beat the Cards and the Astros and only split with the Sox. They may have won by beating up on the rest of the league, but none of those teams, not one, beat the Cubs for the season. Yeah, kinda cheap, but....*sigh*.
  21. Ok, I have a question. If this has been answered before, forgive me, but what is the explanation for why a player's BABIP would steadily decline? If BABIP is a measurement of the balls hit into play that don't result in an out, what would cause that to decline? Is it a function of age? (i.e. bat speed, running speed, etc.) Are most if not all players victims of it as they age? If not, why not? What player actions effect BABIP? Do players purposely hit the ball to where the fielders aren't or is it generally random? If it is random, what would cause a steady decline? Other teams defending the player better? The law of averages? If players do hit the ball intentionally where the fielders aren't, wouldn't a decline be reversable?
  22. You could look at it that either way one of them loses. Either the Cards get all the way and lose AGAIN or the Sox have this wonderfull season, get there for the first time in however long and can't close the deal. It's win-win...or lose-lose...whatever.
  23. I actually didn't get the hot dog bit. How does adding a bunch of veggies to the hot dog make a trip to the Emergency Room more likely?
  24. NC Women's soccer. I thought we were talking about sports here. ;) (That was meant to be a soccer joke, btw, not a women's sports joke.) It could pass muster for both.  I passed muster last week. I couldn't sit right for two days.
  25. Some new posters no doubt would be knowledgeable. However, for those who aren't, this site can provide a very good baseball education. No doubt, but the halls and library might get crowded.
