  1. I say Ramirez hits it over the wall but can only hobble to third.
  2. DJAXX, what are you doing? Is that cheering? I thought that was banned on this board.
  3. I think we should add the option... GO BEARS!!!
  4. Tai chi kicks a**. Not your grammy's old-folks-home-watered-down-[expletive]-foot-around-the-power tai chi. Real, taught-in-the-monestaries, stop-someone's-heart, toss-them-across-the-room, make-them-cr*p-their-pants, make-them-fear-you, all-without-breaking-a-sweat tai-chi. Sword, staff, hand-to-hand, whatever. And you can practice it and use it until you grow old.
  5. Ya, Tim Kurkjan on FOXSPORTS radio said something today about another big fish is going to fry. Why would Kurkjan be on FOXSPORTS radio when he's an ESPN employee? he was on the Jim Rome show which I just now remembered is ESPN, he used to be on FOX, sorry about that, brain fart. Tee hee! Teacher said "Fart"!
  6. If you aren't under contract you could just sit out a year or play in Japan. If you are under contract you could retire, then stage a comeback a year later. No one is forcing these guys to play, they can walk away from the game anytime they want. I don't understand your response.
  7. Ok, here is a question. If I test positive for steroids, and get suspended for 10 games. When do I get tested again? We know steroids can be detected in the body 12-18 months after ingesting them. If you test me again too soon, you know I am going to test positive. How do they keep from re-violating me for the same ingestion? Do they wait a year?
  8. Because he's left-handed, young, cheap and breathing. That a tighter standard than the one used for getting on Elimidate!
  9. If I am not mistaken, beer sales ended at Wrigley before the game even began on Tuesday night. Drunkeness is a poor excuse. According to Chicago Tribune 7/28/05
  10. Macias will probably get at least one start in LF. Macias hasn't started a game in left field yet this year. Why do you think he will now ? Because, people from Chicago always think the sports cup is half empty. Some people see the glass as half full Others see it as half empty Cubs fans worry about when the glass will tip over.
  11. Why Carlos Lee? He's nothing special outside his RBI totals. I'd prefer every guy on that list to him. Maybe b/c he'll hit for around a .290 avg, hit about 35 HR and drive in around 120+ RBI..... nothing special eh? I'd rather have Lee than any of those guys actually The same Carlos Lee that's hitting .261? HR totals don't matter to me a ton, and RBI mean little to nothing to me. His lower OBP (albeit with a high SLG) diminishes his production. All 4 of those other guys create more runs than Lee. This thinking is getting out of control. How can Rbi's and Hr's mean nothing. Some of you guys like to talk about runs created, and I have no idea how all that stuff works. What I do know is that the best way to create a run is to hit a homerun. I'll also take a guy with a 150 rbi over a guy with a 150 walks. RBI's aren't an individual stat though. Except for HR, they depend on people being on base in front of you. I'm not sure why people don't like HR other than perhaps that in the absence of the OBP info, they often are indiciative of an all or nothing approach at the plate.
  12. I've disliked the Cubs' road hats since they went to the two tone red/blue a couple of years ago. It looks like a party hat. THANK YOU! I am not a fan either. Blue hat, blue bill, red "C" that is all you need.
  13. CT, unless I am more out of touch than I think, your Avatar is no longer Tupac.
  14. You're right. You're not. Forgive my impertinence. I didn't realize that friendly advice was inappropriate.
  15. Wow, dude. I'm not meaning this as attack, but that's one of the stupidest comments I've ever read. It's the MAJOR FREAKING LEAGUES. Kids DREAM about playing in The Show. You CANT be serious. I dont care if the Rays lose 150 games, they're still in the Bigs. Tell that comment to a kid who followed baseball his entire life, collects baseball cards, played prep league, etc - you are out of your mind!!! I'm no moderator, but you should watch the personal attacks (i.e. "you are out of your mind", "one of the stupidest comments I have ever read"). People have been justifiably disciplined for less. Well explain to me the point of posting on a forum about major league baseball, if you don't respect the league? Argue the merits, don't belittle the poster.

  17. Very good idea! And since we know Hendry is capable of architecting a 4-way deal, well then, a 3-way deal should be as easy as falling off a log. "architecting"? :? The funny thing is, I can't think of an alternative.
  18. Is there a trade (a reasonable trade) that you have enough faith in to think it will turn the fortunes of the Cubs around? I can't think of one, but I'm not very good at this kind of thing.
  19. I could get behind a concept that had teams from around the world playing each other (either World Cup Tournament style or best of each region style). Or if you want an all-star team to count for something, make it that. The best players from asia vs the best from the US, seven game series, alternating home field advantage for the series each year.
  20. Yes, as if changing a bad baseball player into a good baseball player were only as easy as solidifying a lineup spot. I thought the jury was still out on Corey.
  21. But I thought his lack of production was a function of how he was being used (misused) in the lineup. (Mind you, filling out a lineup card is not my forte. I wish Dusty would quit asking me to do it for him.)
  22. Or, and I'm just spitballin' here, could you move Corey to left and let him hit at a different spot in the order more consistently?
  23. -drink- *Swordsman wonders if this is the seventh seal*
