  1. That is simply hilarious given you are talking about not being willing to pay for it.
  2. Back the hell off already. Even Congressmen enjoy making fun of Jay Cutler
  3. Standard NSBB policy several years ago. :D http://www.northsidebaseball.com/phpBB3/images/avatars/gallery/UserPics/ct.jpg yup, coming from a standard nsbb poster from several years ago Yeti sighting! shhhhhh! don't spook it uh...so...yeti, how about them honky-tonk specials?
  4. You have a boner for him 8 years ago or a boner for him for the next ten?
  5. Cardinals, Pujols extend contract deadline
  6. depends how you draft your tickets. You commit to more tickets, you chances go up.
  7. Anyone who wants to do this should contact me about getting in on my season ticket group. We are looking for folks to take 1/8-1/4 shares of a Nights and Weekends package. All the games are nights or weekends (duh) and you get the same great seats each game (sec 404 row 4 seats 1-4). PM me if you are interested. 1/8 shares are about $1352.40 for 4 tix to 7 games. 1/4 share is about $2704.80 for 4 tix to 14 games. Let me know asap!
  8. Last Call! If you are on the waiting list and chompin' at the bit to get tix, now is your chance. I will entertain the possibility of partial shares (1/4 for example) too. Gotta know by Sunday.
  9. I am a current season ticket holder. I am not able to use or want to pay for them this year. If any of you are on the wait list and want to get your hands on 4 tickets (sec 404 4th row on the aisle) for the nights and weekends package (all the tickets, playoff ones too) PM me. I'll give them to you for face value.
  10. Ive always been under the impression that 1B defense can be a godsend to the rest of the infield. Didn't Lee deserve at least a little credit for improving the results of balls hit to ARam when he first got here? I could be wrong and just be spouting bogus "conventional wisdom" but I've always appreciated a 1B with an above average glove.
  11. Hey guys, I am a season ticket holder (sec 404, row 4 seats 1-4) and am looking for folks who want to share the tickets. I have the nights and weekends package. If you are interested, send me a pm. Thanks!
  12. that and the insane amount of weed he's smoked Weed has no ill effects. It's a proven fact...or so my pot smoking friend tells me.
  13. Doug Melvin's going on at least 4. Just looked it up, he's actually only hiring his 3rd this offseason. He was hiring in October 2002, he hired Yost for 2003, then Yost was famously fired in September 2008 and replaced by Dale Sveum. But he was only an interim manager, and to me that doesn't count because it doesn't go against his GM track record. Then after that season he fired Ken Macha for the last 2 years and now will be hiring his 3rd. But Hendry beat him to the punch. I looked up Dombrowski, Jocketty, Colletti, Sabean and none of them have made 3 managerial hires at their current (or St. Louis for Jocketty) position. Does re-hiring the same manager count? It is still a managerial hiring decision.
  14. The Freakonomics guys looked at homeruns in baseball on Marketplace. http://marketplace.publicradio.org/display/web/2010/10/05/pm-freakonmics-radio-where-are-the-home-runs/
  15. Why doesn't ESPN put the games on ABC and get even more viewers? Are there really people out there that would tune into the game on ABC, but can't because it's on ESPN? How many? 2? 3? So you didn't see the game at all? You didn't go to a friend or family member's house or a bar. You watched something else at home that night because you don't have ESPN. I live in Chicago and it was on Channel 26 THE U!!!
  16. I'm not a fan of these huge ratings especially because this game topped another Bear game from last year. ESPN and NBC see these numbers are going to want the Bears in primetime but I prefer the Sunday afternoon games by a wide margin. Why doesn't ESPN put the games on ABC and get even more viewers? Are there really people out there that would tune into the game on ABC, but can't because it's on ESPN? How many? 2? 3?
  17. You forgot about Steltz, who sounded like the most seriously injured on the night from what I'd read. I think Wright should be ok though...even if he has a broken finger, he won't miss a huge amount of time. Forgot about Steltz, you're right. Wright has looked good to my eyes. It would be a shame if a promising young player like that just couldn't stay healthy. And we really need someone to come in and become that guy for us, too. Since Mike Brown's prime we've just needed that position to become OK for us again, and it hasn't happened. Steltz has been insignificant with this team in the 2 years he's been here. As far as I'm concerned, he falls behind Chris Harris, Al Afalava, Major Wright, Josh Bullocks and Danieal Manning on the depth chart anyway. Based on your injury report, I'd say they got off pretty easy for week 1. The biggest concern, however, needs to be how they plan to protect the qb. The problem is that Steltz has played better football than all of the safeties you have him behind. Harris was traded away because he was lackluster before, and isn't great still. Afalava is probably going to be cut and was a failure last year (granted he was a 6th rounder thrown into the fire). Wright, has 1 exhibition game under his belt. Bullocks was a YouTube laughing stop. Manning is fast and stays on the field because he's Lovie's buddy. Steltz is probably the slowest and least talented of the group, but he also probably has the best instincts and is the least out of position. He'll still probably be the 4th safety option at best, but he deserves to be on the team over Afalava and Bullocks at the very least. "laughing stop"?
  18. Seems like the folks at Leo Burnett Chicago thought is was not so silly. Chicago is daring LeBron James to play for the Bulls
  19. Why would James want to compete with Jordan's legacy in Chicago?
  20. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn200/nbacardDOTnet/zz%20NBA%20Photo%20Gallery/z%20Funny%20NBA%20Photos/Funny%20Reaction/Finger%20Wagging/to.gif hee hee Luc Longley
  21. How are the Bulls signing Bosh and James outright? Or acquiring Bosh in a S&T without giving up Deng? And while I plead ignorance on Cleveland's backcourt defense, so I'm not even saying it helps Cleveland's case, but defense does matter. You can't just add up PER and say this team's better. Isn't points per game closely linked with shooting percentage and the number of shots a guy gets to take? If there are other guys taking lots of shots on the floor (I'm assuming LBJ would be taking a bunch), wouldn't that lower the PPG for the other guys on the floor? In other words, assuming shooting accuracy (the percentage of shots made) stayed constant for all players, if LBJ came to the Bulls, isn't it likely that the other player's PPG would trend down as LBJ took a higher percentage of the available shots in the game? I admit to paying no attention to how Baskeball stats are used, collected or calculated.
  22. This is the game. When we look back on this season, this will be the game we point to as the start of the resurgence. This game. This day. This year! :yahoo:
  23. And those tweaks might not help. If the Cubs do not have a bounce back year very soon, they will see a hard drop in attendance. Season ticket list be damned. That thing started when the economy was rocking and the team was great (and tickets were cheaper). People who otherwise could not afford season tickets could get them with the expectations of financing their tickets through later sales. Or they put their name on the list knowing they would not have to pay for years. Without a quality team, those sales dry up, and people take baths. This is two years in a row of people bathing. There will easily be 15,000 attendance days if the team doesn't improve significantly in 2011. I know when I was looking to split a nights and weekends season ticket package earlier this spring, I had a hell of a time finding people to buy even a partial season ticket package, and that was from people who said they were on the waiting list.
