  1. Thanks, Goon-dog. I checked on that site and didn't see that but I may have just missed it.
  2. Did I hear Dave Kaplan on WGN Radio say that the Cubs have hired Ivan DeJesus as a coach of some sort?
  3. all i need to know about clutch is how to install one on my truck Is it Rear, Front or Four wheel drive. If its 4 you may have to get David Ortiz to fix it. its rear, should be a relative snap That reminds me..... I gotta get mine adjusted !!! From where I'm sittin', Fred, you need a lot of your things adjusted. 'course, so do I. *ba-dum- Cha!* http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/5245/buddyhackettdz3.jpg
  4. Just curious to see who will be voting this election cycle.
  5. nah, Saltines. They are whiter, blander and they come free with a bowl of soup.
  6. I hate to throw a wet towel drill on this pity party, but what was the context for this statement? What was the question he was answering or was he just muttering this under his breath wandering around Wrigley?
  7. If I understand the argument against looking for guys who hit well with RISP is that there is little statistical evidence that there are hitters who consistently hit better in that situation than they do otherwise. That seems reasonable to me. If a hitter is mediocre when pressure is less, it is not likely that they will improve their hitting when the pressure is on. The Dude seems to be trying to look at that same scenario (the result of an at bat with RISP) from the pitchers mound rather than the batters box.
  8. with a blood clot in his lung. For all his failings, let's hope this isn't too serious.
  9. That's just it. I get more excited than I otherwise might because of their technique. I'm glad that they seem to know what they are talking about and keep itabout football but they really make it fun to listen. Jeff is able to paint the excitement and power and energy of the game with his voice even more than his words. It's kinetic not intellectual. Anyway, I like them. I love them too. They are wonderful to listen to when you are a raging homer like I am. I usually mute the TV and listen to the radio team. Me too.

  11. Ok...I have a confession to make. I am not very proud of this because I'm not really sure how the rest of the league is but here goes... I really like the team that calls the games on the Bears radio, Jeff Joniak (PBP) and Tom Thayer (COLOR). I like the play-by-play (I like his passion, his corny turns of phrase, his enthusiasm for the Bears) I like the color man (former player seems to know his stuff, gives me a clue what to listen for and what it is like to play). There, I've said it. Whew!! That feels good to get out there.
  12. I bet they will pretty easily spin the dropin attendence to correlate to school starting. They would be, at most, partially correct.
  13. Stats don't lie.
  14. It'll be a tough decision whether to keep them or not this off-season.
  15. As a season ticket holder since 1984, I can answer the question about moving. Yes, the Cubs have let you upgrade where your season tickets are, based on availablility. When you renew, they ask if you want to move, you check the box and after they get all their renewals back, if there is somewhere to move, you will be contacted and asked if you want to move there. Since I like my seats, I have not moved since 1996, but in the past, I have moved 4 times (once not by my choice, in 1984 & 85, I was able to get field boxes on a partial plan. when the eliminated the ability to get field boxes with a partial plan, I was moved to the terrace boxes). BTW, in the years I have had my plan (I started out with weekends, and then when night games were added, it went to weekends and nights), the Cubs have eliminated partial plans 3 times (and grandfathered in everyone who had them at the time). Twice they went back to offering partial plans after season ticket sales went down. With the dismal years lately, I predict there will be a drop off of the 2003 band wagon jumpers and the waiting list will dwindle and eventually disappear. WHen this happens , partial season plans will once again appear. Kasey Just for clarity, when they elimiated partial plans before and grandfathered in everyone who had them at the time, you mean that they did not make people who had partial plans purchase full season plans, they only made new season ticket buyers buy full season ticket plans. Right?
  16. Don't forget Nebraska at USC (5:30 pm PST) FIGHT ON!!!
  17. Do I get any points for not going to the games I do have tickets to? I bought them before I knew how bad they would suck, selling them to someone else would just keep the seats full and put more beer and hot dog money in the Cubs pockets. I have only gone to about 2-3 games this year even though I had tickets to about 15. I figure I'll show up to watch when the players show up to play. We will seriously consider not going again next year.
  18. I'm sure "Little Michael and the boys" will be fine :) My brother's injury was pretty severe, and he went on to father 3 kids. At least that's what his wife wants him to think. \:D/
  19. my group and I are relative newbys at this. We have been season ticket holders for only 2 years (I think). We have not been able to improve our seating. I do at some point expect to be told that we must purchase the whole season. Nights and Weekends is 55 games as it is so it ain't too far from a full season.
  20. As a season ticket holder I can answer some of your questions. I don't know how the Cubs designate how many or shich seats are season tickets. There is no discount for the season tickets. They are full, single ticket face value. Playoff tickets are done based on what type of season tickets you get. I have the nights and weekends package and I believe that we get 1 ticket for each seat we own for half of the home games for each series.
  21. There are 7000 people on a waiting list in front of you.
  22. Dusty sucks. Stop defending him. Dusty is Ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-d. Your goat impression not withstanding, I am not defending Dusty's on field decisions. I am pointing out that the mob mentality is well on display lately.
  23. I look forward to a time when reading a rather inocuous statement by Dusty isn't interpreted as making excuses for why the team is losing. "I get racist letters and they are hurtful and I don't like it and it makes my job less fun. But I will still go out there and do my job. It doesn't effect how I manage." - Not making excuses "D-Lee would have won us 10-15 more games." - ignorant, likely hyperbole, thinly vailed excuse-making. Shame on you Dusty "The media has really changed in my time in this game. It's a lot more hostile now. I'll bet it's because they have more competition to get people to pay attention to their stories." - Not making excuses and, in my opinion, not far off base. I don't think Dusty should be managing this team either, but come on folks, not everything the guy says should get people's truss in a tangle.
