  2. I have this funny feeling that this trend is going to hold out one more game. Ya think ???? No. Cubs will win this game.
  3. I have this funny feeling that this trend is going to hold out one more game. Not today.
  4. Fear not guys, we got this. Book it.
  5. Me too...sort of...Kids day care is closed today...I told the wife that if I "Had to" I'd stay home today... Mizzou...you gonna go watch Illinois whoop up on the tiggers tomorrow? Hah, yeah right. Like they stand a chance. I don't plan on going, but I might change my mind and head down to tailgate. Though after last night, I highly doubt it. You going? Just curious, but which team are you saying doesnt stand a chance? Illinois. I'm predicting a blowout. Mizzou is going to be solid this year. Want to put a wager on the game Mizzou? Premium up for grabs? Sure, I'm confident enough to bet on my team. What's the bet? Well the line is Mizzou by 4.5, and since you said you were expecting a blowout, how about this bet. Ill bet you U of I is within 10 points in the end. 6 months premium on the line? I'll bet 6 months worth of premium that we cover the spread. Well Ive found 2 different spreads Ive seen 4.5 and Ive seen 5.5. I just figured since you said you were expecting the blowout, you would feel safe giving me 10 points. Screw it, I'll take it. I'll wager 6 months of Premium that we beat you by at least 10 points. We're on. Alright deal. It's interesting to me how the bet changed. The initial bet was that IL would be within 10 pts of Mizzou in the end (so if IL blew out Mizzou by more than 10 pts., the poster who supported them would still lose since they would not be within 10 pts at the end) But the bet ended up being more conventional. Was that intentional?
  6. forminable ??? OK, how about better than the Cubs. I'm not sure that is a word, actually but we get the point.
  7. Soriano was really bad before the injury. He was. I'm beginning to think he's going to be prone to long slumps forever because he doesn't seem like to care much for coaching. It's always Lou needing to tip-toe around Sori's wishes. I hate that, I don't care the kind of money you make. We're going to be tip-toeing around this guy for 7 more years. It's really starting to get under my skin. It's been under my skin. The guy is hobbled with a bad quad but he has good HR power, yet the manager is too afraid to take him out of the leadoff spot. Who is running the team, Lou or Soriano? I don't think it's Soriano that's demanding to hit leadoff and play LF. I think it's Lou and/or Hendry that's looking at his numbers in the past (and the few ABs he's had when playing CF or hitting elsewhere in the lineup this year) and concluding that he has to hit first and play LF. I don't remember seeing Soriano make any demands about it, so I don't blame him. I blame our manager/GM. Probably true. They're still entranced by his 2006 numbers that he put up in LF/leadoff. Next year Lou will have to face the fact the 2006 was a career season that Soriano is extremely unlikely to reproduce. At that point Lou might consider batting him 5th and moving him to RF. We can only hope. I have to say I find your signature photo oddly mesmerizing.
  8. It's huge, but I'm really down to a point now where every game is the biggest game of the year. Last night was by far the most nervous I've been watching a game all season, and I know it's only going to get worse. Let's hope the players haven't taken this same position. Welcome to ulcerville. Population: you.
  9. get rejected?
  10. I kinda want to see the Cubs win this game. a? Kinda? KINDA?!?
  11. Ok, now I want you to punish yourself for that.
  12. So Cubs are down by 2 bottom of the 7th with a stale pitcher on the mound? Who's due up?
  13. We're not winning. But we would be if NU had beaten USC at the Rose Bowl in 1996. Well yeah, the complete and utter defeat of USC in all events, athletic or otherwise cures all evil in the world. You fail to recognize that if NU had beaten SC, you and I would be squatting on a smoldering cinder right now 'cus the world would have ended for sure.
  14. Between this and going to USC, you are dead to me. :) Does it help that I rooted for Northwestern when they met USC in the Rose Bowl all those years ago? No because they lost that game. Oh...you hush up now.

  16. I must confess, folks. A guy was listening to the game in the lunchroom so I heard the Cubs homers and the Cards take the lead back. I'm not in there anymore and I'm waiting to hear if that inadvertent hearing of the game will count as listening (I was reading a magazine at the time). If it counts, then this loss is on me. If not, then we still have a chance.
  17. Language. Oh you're a mod now? Cool. There was a day when people didn't need a badge to remind each other what was expected in a civilized society. I miss those days even though I wasn't around then.
  18. Don't forget... according to jesus aka bill james, lead-off hitters don't matter! Leave it!
