  1. I'm not sure about that. Most of the time the Kiss of Death tastes very sweet...
  2. 1. Reds demote Austin Kearns Cubs demote Corey Patterson 2. Kearns tears up AAA Patterson continues his slump in AAA 3. Kearns is hitting .297/.333/.514 since returning Patterson = ???
  3. If Furcal can improve his OBP he would make a really good leadoff man. *Now who else have we said that about?*
  4. Honestly I'd like to see Hill get a few more starts this year to judge him by. He's already 25 and he's not getting any younger so the sooner we find out if he has IT the better it would be for him and the Cubs.
  5. I'd say he's put on a very laughable show this year.
  6. Those mental errors by the pitchers weren't pitching problems, they were fielding problems.
  7. Here you go. Saw this on their website: http://www.bleyz.com/cubsfun/images/scwab.jpg
  8. In an ESPN chat with Scoop Jackson he had this to say in his defense:
  9. There should be a show called "Stump the Dusty" but then it would have to be a REALITY show.
  10. So you're saying that the Cubs are pretty good except when they really have to be?
  11. The Cubs are exceptionally good at being mediocre.
  12. Mathematically we have a shot but Psychologically we don't. The actions of this team on the field speaks volumes about what is in their hearts. Apparently it's not enough.
  13. When players regularly mess up fundamental plays it clearly states ONE thing: It has NOT been practiced enough to make it automatic. These kinds of plays rely very much on muscle memory. Your body tends to react in the same manner as what it is used to doing often. If you don't do it often enough, then your body doesn't automatically do it. In short, lack of fundamentals is a black mark on coaches for not drilling the players properly on things that should be automatic and it is a black mark on players for lacking the desire to be excellent by continually practicing these plays even without being prompted to do so. Excellence is the quality that makes Reggie Miller shoot 1000 free throws every day, Larry Bird take hundreds of jump shots a day, or Wade Boggs take extra batting practice sessions or even Albert Pujols run to the video room after an out to see what he did wrong. Practice cannot make you perfect, but it can get you really really close.
  14. I believe that for now Raffy is employing the Bill Clinton technique for deniability which is: If you haven't been caught, speak vehemently against it. If you get caught, vehemently deny it. If you get caught lying about it, just be vehement.
  15. Yes, but don't forget that Hollandsworth is an experienced veteran. Granted that his experiences have been mostly mediocre, but there you have it.
  16. Dusty still has the 12 pitchers on the roster so I think the bullpen has enough flexibility to do this with Wood.
  17. Yeah. Good points VANCE.
  18. Maddux should just do the classy thing and retire after this season. He can still compete but not at a high level of play anymore.
  19. So it could have been amphetamines for all we know.
  20. Seems like its been a while since Derrek had a really monster day at the plate. Hopefully that day off did him some good and he'll mash the Phillies.
  21. It doesn't take much negotiating skills to say, "Goodbye".
  22. Happens when there are too many people trying to access the database. In other words: TRAFFIC.
  23. I think in the back of Jim Hendry's mind is that Pie just might be one of those rare talents that come along very rarely. That thought alone would keep him from trading Felix until he has seen him in the Majors.
  24. shhh! Don't jinx him. Too little. too late. :)
