  1. Seeing as the Cubbies have been up and down all year, the best thing for all of us is to go into this series with ZERO expectations. We never know which Cub team will show up. That being said, I hope it's the one that scores 8 runs a game...
  2. Soriano has let it be known that he has no interest in changing positions.
  3. I don't see anything wrong with looking for a silver lining.
  4. I voted NO cos I'd rather see Hill in the rotation than the bullpen. Btw, this belongs in the Polls section.
  5. Hendry is probably in a bit of a quandary about what to do with this team. On the one hand he is making moves to refurbish the roster by getting players he knows can contribute, but on the other hand he must be kicking himself for hiring a manager who refuses to use the players he gets as intended. In short, Jim has handcuffed himself by hiring Dusty.
  6. I have this theory that this thread was actually started by a mod in disguise who is doing a good deed by allowing us to vent our frustrations about not having a better offense in spite of spending the most money in the NL. :)
  7. IIRC Will Carroll noted that the change in Wood's delivery when he came back was not something that would correct his arm problems. Ergo the flaw in his delivery which has regularly caused him trouble is still there.
  8. Good to hear that. I don't expect anything big out of him this year, but any help he can give to our setup situation would be a boost.
  9. Welcome to the Forum, Clogged! :) Please cut down the size of your avatar because it's throwing my view of the board off kilter, thanks!
  10. Hendry is ALWAYS looking to improve this team. Whether he succeeds or not is another matter.
  11. The Nationals are merely catching up with their Pythagorean record. With their lack of run production, a slump like this was inevitable.
  12. The only proof that matters in Corey's case is an improvement in his numbers. Until he starts producing regularly, any changes in his swing is useless.
  13. Dempster stays as closer while Williamson will probably tested as a setup man. If Scott can put in some good innings in a setup role, that should improve Wuertz' performance as he seems to do better when NOT pitching consecutive days.
  14. After Sosa was traded we all thought it the first step to another major trade. Of course all we got after was one Jeromy Burnitz...
  15. The new Cubs home (blue w/o names) jerseys this year aren't really bad, but for some reason I don't like them much.
  16. I think the ESPN fantasy football is FREE this year and offers a "keeper" option.
  17. Thome has absolutely no place on the Cubs. We've got more than enough DL placeholders, thank you.
  18. I thought it was pretty funny how Berman kept cutting off Morgan's rants with his back, back, back calls.
  19. At this point in his career, even the DRays is a welcome opportunity for Joe. I wish him well also.
  20. So does any part of the 50 bucks you chalk up for that baseball going to charity?
  21. I wonder if Vince Coleman has been working with Hairston to improve his base running.
  22. Here are the half season totals and the full season projected totals: 1. Cub wins: 43 - 80 2. Cub wins vs Cardinals: 1 - 8 3. Number of runs scored: 394 - 734 4. Number of earned runs allowed: 375 - 698 Player Stats & Scoring 1. Number of Lee HRs: 27 - 50 2. Number of Patterson BBs: 16 - 30 3. Nomar Batting Average: .157 4. Aramis RBIs: 57 - 106 5. Maddux Wins: 8 - 16 6. Zambrano ERA: 3.85 7. Wood Ks: 52 - 156 8. Mark Prior Starts: 12 - 28 Tiebreaker: Barrett OPS: .771
  23. The guy should quit baseball and be an actor. That way Kevin Costner will have a successor. From Jayson Starks' recent article: I'd also like to remind everyone about his fake beaning stunt against the Cubs last year. IIRC, Mike Remlinger wanted to eat him alive after that incident.
  24. I thought this fact on Adam Dunn was pretty interesting:
