  1. Leadoff hitter is not a position in the game of baseball. what is your problem, I made a mistake on saying that if thats your best comeback on trying to make me look bad then u obviously have no case in that argument I think you're still misunderstanding peoples' answers to your post. Being a "leadoff hitter" is not a meaningful role that a player fills. Jose Reyes isn't a good leadoff hitter -- he's a good hitter who bats first in the order. Obviously, he's the "leadoff hitter," but to believe this is a position/role that must be filled is illogical. And I don't mean to sound rude, but without periods and commas, some of your posts are a bit tough to read.
  2. strange. Levine said expect it tonight or early tomorrow. Surely one of these men wouldn't be incorrect?!?! :D
  3. "leadoff" isn't much of a designation no matter how you slice it, that was the point. You need eight hitters, and batting order has been proven to be fairly inconsequential.
  4. Chone Figgins in CF? Is he serious? What can Figgins do in CF that Pie can't? I don't get it. hit for .330/.393/.432/OPS+117 with between 40-60 SBs. (Granted those are last year's numbers, but Figgin's ceiling is much closer than Pie's. Not that I necesarily advocate Chone over Felix, but the idea does have some merit.)
  5. interesting place to break it, but thanks for the news nonetheless :)
  6. Thanks Bruce. Youda'man! Are you of the opinion that Hill and/or Pie could be traded this offseason? Hill finally breaks out last year and Pie gets the official not-gonna-trade-him label from JH. Any indication about their actual respective availabilties?
  7. I might have to register there to warn them of the oncoming dangers! it's like watching a lion attack a gazelle on a safari -- stay out of the way. you just need to let nature run it's course
  8. " If we lose out to the ChiSox's offer of 3/60, or near that, I won't feel that bad. That's silly and bad logic, but too bad.
  9. Rotoworld was speculating that it was EPatt & Hill or Felix Pie & Sean Marshall/Sean Gallagher I know it's cheating, but I'd choose the Epatt/Marshall combo . . . maybe, maybe gallagher as well. As for bedard... that's not really serious is it?
  10. brian roberts . . . had to look at the stats -- i tend to not notice a lot of AL players. I really like the idea of having him for 2b, though I worry that any of pie/hill/marmol would be included. Not surprisingly, I'd like to have the good player without giving any good players up :)
  11. i think you might have missed the source of some of the posters' frustration with the quote.
  12. From the Trib I've got a feeling we lose out of Fukodome, but quietly aren't all that disappointed after seeing how much he signs for. He's the best of the available, which is skewing (at least my own) feeling of how much I want him...
  13. If last year could become somewhat of a trend, I'd like him quite a bit (for the right price) hitting 1st and playing some RF/2B. But, yeah, he doesn't fit the connotation "impact player." He's not worth any package including Pie. Maybe Marshall/Patterson; I really don't know how much EP is/should be worth...
  14. kinda like a national, kinda like an expo; "Natspo", perhaps, would be clearer :)
  15. I'm not really interested in the debate . . . ;) But those were both well worth a couple minutes of my day; reposts or not, rare or not, the best-clips-ever or not. :)
  16. Todd Walker at the plate isnt a bad thing it is for 10-15 million, imo
  17. You think the Yankees deal with A-Rod will fall apart? Seems awfully far along in the process combined with such a huge contract makes it incredibly unlikely IMO that one side would walk away now. ARod deals have been far along in the process before while still falling through. There's no good reason why it hasn't been signed yet. Indeed. Arod was traded to Boston. Then he wasn't.
  18. that's a VERY fair point. While losing Marmol could be a bit to swallow, his value is very unlikely to ever be this high again.
  19. I would rather have Hill than Crawford. Agreed. Hill/Cedeno or Marmol/Cedeno would work for me, albeit even with those two combos, it's a bit hard to swallow.
  20. Right. Because those moves weaken us in what way? Agreed. The only problem with the hypotheticals is that they are quite unlikely to be accepted by both teams... there's really no doubt that we're a better team after it's all said and done. The money would be tough. But we'd be favorites to win the next 3-4 WSs until we can no longer afford it :)
  21. Is that English? He just missed a "to" in there! Jeez! where exactly can a "to" be placed in there to make it a decent sentence? ;)
  22. Would he? He didn't fail a test. *smacks forehead* that makes sense, thanks. I was wondering why it hadn't been brought up yet
  23. he would miss the first 25 games of the season, right? That's a big chunk...
  24. IMHO, if I were a GM, I would not pay any pitcher much more than $20M/per... he would have to be head and shoulders above every other pitcher in the game.
  25. what is this 10-year post-playing contract all about? never heard of it...
