  1. "Ninety percent of life is just showing up." - Woody Allen "Yes, but nobody said anything about when." - Eric Patterson
  2. Dave Duncan - Baseball's best pitching coach Larry Rothschild - Should be setting pins in a bowling alley
  3. At first, I thought Bo Hart was joining the team... so you're not alone! Alright, who's Fuld?? CF drafted several years ago out of Stanford. LH bat with a pretty solid approach at the plate and a strong defender, ceiling of a 5th outfielder. Remember Adam Greenberg? He's pretty much another incarnation of that skillset. There's one important difference between Greenberg and Fuld. Greenberg struck out a lot. Fuld doesn't. That should give him a better chance to have a good batting average without needing to hit for a lot of power to do so (or having a HOF-caliber or very lucky BABIP).
  4. Jay Buhner.
  5. Kevin Hart. He's a RHP we received from Baltimore this past spring in exchange for Freddie Bynum. Sinker/slider type - decent, not overwhelming stuff, reportedly.
  6. This would leave Fox and Petrick as those most notably absent from the September callups.
  7. That transaction would return the 40-man roster to a full 40.
  8. Why don't you keep your pathetic criticisms to yourself?
  9. ...the following five players from the minor leagues: Will "Bad" Ohman Ronny "Dumber Than Michael Barrett?" Cedeno Eric "Worse Than My Brother" Patterson Geovany "Who?" Soto Sean "Straight Fastball, No Breaking Ball" Gallagher
  10. Discussing a possible playoff roster for this awful team is high comedy.
  11. Trachsel is a useful arm for unloading groceries or laying sod. As a pitcher, he's one of MLB's worst. You've heard of addition by subtraction? Welcome to subtraction by addition.
  12. Baseball's worst GM continues to push the limits of human incompetence.
  13. The Orioles have spoken with several clubs, including the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies, about Trachsel, but their most serious talks are occurring with one of his former teams, the Chicago Cubs, according to an industry source. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-osnotes0830,0,3559726.story?coll=bal_sports_football_util Ready, set, go!
  14. It's not out of the realm of possibility that they get both Rapada and the rights to Campusano.
  15. Having it be Ohman would be very interesting. That would get the Cubs out from under Ohman's guaranteed $1.6 next season, if you consider that to be a burden.
  16. Reminds me of the old story about the Packers' offensive lineman, Jim Ringo. Ringo showed up in Lombardi's office, with an agent in tow, looking to negotiate a raise. Lombardi was so angered that he excused himself for five minutes only to return and announce that he had traded Ringo to the Eagles. Buh-bye!
  17. I would find it hard to be "super pumped" about Silva, but I believe he could be useful.
  18. Revisiting Carlos Silva? Is Minnesota sufficiently buried?
  19. Bad baseball players with select useful skills help teams win games all the time.
  20. Is that right? Outstanding. As soon as he's "healthy" and pitching well, trade him before the duct tape and bailing wire break.
  21. Typically, a player has three option years. I believe that, for some reason, Samardzija actually has four.
  22. If RF is the big bat acquisition, then Pie plays CF everyday. With Pie's range, the RF doesn't need anything better than average or even slightly sub-average defense. I think possibly he meant the OF's are all CF's (Hunter, Jones, etc.), correct? Kind of. Even via trade, try to find someone that you think would be a big offensive upgrade in RF who wouldn't make you cringe every time a ball is hit his way. I've done a fifty-yard dash through MLB and there aren't any guys like that. I suppose you could sign one of the veteran CFs and play Pie or Jones in RF, but that doesn't appeal to me. Dunn-Pie-Soriano Burrell-Pie-Soriano
  23. The problem in adding a big bat is that there aren't really any top offensive outfielders with the defensive profile to play RF likely to be available. The best idea would probably be to move Soriano to RF and then look into Dunn or Burrell for LF.
  24. He probably expressed some degree of fandom for Jason Jennings prior to the proposal. More than likely, that scared her straight.
