  1. No offense to him personally, but Joe Sheehan is a dope.
  2. If anyone needs proof of the existence of a supreme being, I offer the fact that this collection of horrible hitters scored 855 runs this season. That cannot be merely an accident of evolution.
  3. If the 2008 season showed us anything, it's that there is such a thing as a season-long fluke.
  4. Few situations in the history of major league baseball were as irrelevant to the outcome of a game as that one.
  5. The last remaining humiliation: Kuroda pitches a perfect game. Dodgers win 1-0.
  6. We all thought the cubs were a better team than the Dodgers and look how that has turned out thus far The Phillies are benefiting from Milwaukee having a pitcher who cant throw more than 75 pitches because he has been injured all year and another who hasn't pitched on normal rest in at least 2 weeks. The Phillies are also benefitting from players who can hit the baseball.
  7. Well........the Red Sox came back from 3-0 down in a 7 game series en route to their drought breaking WS title. I'd imagine if the Cubs do pull it out somehow, we will have had to come back from a similar improbably deficit. And San Diego did it to us in 1984.....lol. We owe the West Coast one. It is not impossible but my god, the Cubs seem to have completely imploded on every front possible. I'd feel better I guess if these games were even remotely close. They won three in a row at home. I am fully aware of that, I'm just putting forth an example of a team coming back from 2-0 in a 5 game series. The Cubs are a decent road team this year and Dodger Stadium will have a few Cubs fans I'm sure. If Harden and Lilly are lights out, we can get his back to Chicago. Is this a positive? Keep on trolling. I'm not trolling. The point is that playing in front of Cubs fans right now is not helping.
  8. Maybe if we issued firearms to all the players. Certainly not with bats and gloves.

  10. The LF is in one of his frequent periods in which he's one of the worst players in baseball. The RF hits like a mediocre AAA backup catcher. The 1B hits like a decent shortstop. The catcher is hurt and worn down. We really shouldn't be surprised that the offense has failed.
  11. Not even close You're delusional. No offense to you personally. The fact that the players choke every season has nothing to do with the organization. They put a great team on the field. Sorry, but this is not a great team.

  13. I get yelled at every time I post this, but it needs to be said, now more than ever. The worst organization in professional sports.
  14. This is high comedy. Newsflash - the Mets would have destroyed this bunch.
  15. Maybe Dempster's remarkably full beard threw off his balance and messed with his mechanics.
  16. Eight of the seventeen lost the first game at home. Thanks. Including 1 of the 2 Lou managed. Based on history, we have an 8/52 chance of winning the series. Of course, we're the Cubs, so cut that in half. 8/104 = 7.7% I'll take it.
  17. Eight of the seventeen lost the first game at home.
  18. I'm the opposite. I feel really good about tonight and was nervous as hell yesterday. I'm pretty much the same way... I know this is a gut punch losing like we did last night... but how many of you actually thought we were going to sweep? I know it happened a lot last year... but a sweep just isn't all that common. 21 of the 52 Division Series have ended in sweeps.
  19. There's a decent chance we win this game tonight, but we have to get out to an early lead and hold it. If we fall behind at any point, I can't envision them coming back to win, given the atmosphere at the ballpark.
  20. Hendry needs to be careful. Colletti <----- Mob ties
  21. Never really liked the Braves, but did and still do have a fondness for some of the Atlanta Hawks teams of the late '70s. Tree Rollins Dan Roundfield John Drew Armond Hill Eddie Johnson Tom McMillen Charlie Criss
  22. just because he's not on the NLDS roster doesn't necessarily mean he won't be on the NLCS or WS roster Ahh, didn't know you could change rosters in between series, I thought it was one set lineup for the entire postseason. I'm pretty certain it's fixed rosters for each series. Meaning, whatever the roster is for the NLDS is set, but it can be changed between the NLDS and NLCS and World Series. Only exception is injured players can be replaced within a series. Correct. I should have mentioned that. Just to clarify... If you replace a guy for injury, by rule he's finished for the remainder of the postseason.
  23. What about Jim Marshall?
