  1. Well, if Sampson is a bad coach, then Davis must have been worse than Dusty-because IU played much worse than this with a more talented squad last year. That may well be. It doesn't make Sampson any better, though. I guess I don't see the huge talent on this IU squad-D.J. is a great player, Wilmont is great at times, Calloway and Bassett are good but erratic, and everybody else are really role players. The talent level certainly doesn't suggest a 17-6 record to me. Agreed. There is 1 future NBA player on IU right now, and he will never be a great NBA player. Sampson has them overachieving or achieving near their peak level this year. I don't see this huge talent advantage you guys might see.
  2. Since Illinois won the first game, I'd call it a push. not by a long shot, the ej thing would overshadow 8 consecutive sweeps. oh well, i should be used to my teams getting beaten without retribution by now. Will it make you feel better when Sampson has IU on probation in a couple years? Why do you have to be such a sore loser? It was an ugly game on all sides, and IU pulled out a win. UI won one, IU won one, hopefully they will meet again in the BTT. Just because IU won you have to pull out this "well you'll be on probation" garbage with no evidence of any violations at IU. Man up.
  3. I think the Brew crew has a great chance to win the Central. Based on all the reports up here in Milwaukee the starters will not be what you had. It should look like this: C- Estrada/Miller 1B - Prince 2B - Weeks SS - Hardy 3B - Koskie, if he is healthy to start the year and that is not a given. If Koskie is going to miss any significant time the job goes to Braun, and once Braun takes the job he will keep it. LF - Jenkins vs. RHP, Mench vs. LHP it seems Yost wants to go with a strict platoon there. CF - Bill Hall RF - Corey Hart If Sheets can pitch near 200 innings (again, a big if) Milwaukee will have a great shot to win the division. Sheets, Cappy, Suppan, Bush, Vargas/Villenueva
  4. That sucks. I'm in Milwaukee, right in the heart of Big Ten country, and I am not getting the IU-Illinois game until halftime. They are showing some freaking Seton Hall game at 11 and will join IU-ILL in progress at 1pm. Freaking idiotic. Hopefully for your sake the Seton Hall game doesn't go into OT. :) Don't even joke. I'm thinking about driving down to some sports bar in Kenosha so I can see the first half. I hate Milwaukee, thank goodness I'm out of here soon.

They are showing some freaking Seton Hall game at 11 and will join IU-ILL in progress at 1pm. Freaking idiotic. I don't think our students will be any more idiotoc than they were. What I heard was that there will be a "Sampson-out" where the students wear blue shirts and red ties. I'm feeling pretty good about this game though. IU has had a week off after a bad loss, IU tends to shoot the 3-ball well at home, and they will be looking to get some revenge for the loss last month. I'll talk the Hoosiers by about a dozen today. Illini or Chicago people, what radio station are the Illini on in Chicago? I might as well listen to the first half on the radio, since Milwaukee CBS is the devil. Thanks!
  6. Damn. Iowa did a great job at the line to win this one. Seems like they didn't miss down the stretch. I figured it would be a tough one. The refs were very bad, but very bad both ways. I wish they would have let the teams play a little bit. Oh well, regroup and beat the Illini next Saturday.
  7. The last 4 minutes of the IU-Iowa game could take an hour. Doesn't look good for the Hoosiers, down 6 with 45 seconds left. Too many blown chances today. Edit - 52 Fouls so far!
  8. That was NOT a foul! You don't have to blow the freaking whistle on every shot.
  9. The refs sure didn't put the whistles away at halftime. This is excessive. This reminds me of the two games at the beginning of the season (the preseason NIT games)-one touch and its a foul. 4 fouls on DJ White with 12 minutes left. Iowa up 1. If IU wins it will have to be on the 3 point shot. Hopefully Wilmont and Ratliff can get hot.
  10. The refs sure didn't put the whistles away at halftime. This is excessive.
  11. If Bobby Knight shoved a player like Sampson and Alford did, it would lead Sportscenter. Hell, it did. Let's see what kind of coverage Sampson and Alford get. Gotta get DJ White more involved this half.
  12. Yeah, they have fallen apart. It's like when the Bears beat the Giants. It seemed like a great win at the time, and then 5 weeks later it didn't look nearly as good.
  13. Agreed; beating Iowa on the road coming off the Wisconsin win would be huge. If that happens I'd expect them to make a huge jump in the rankings next week, likely into the top 15. They already have a big non-conference road win (UConn). I don't know about top 15, but a win today should put IU in the 15-20 range. That said, I am not confident at all about the game today. IU tends to have a lot more shooting funks away from Bloomington. I also think it is harder to beat an average team like Iowa on the road than it is to beat a great team like Wisconsin at home in the Big Ten. This would be another quality win, if IU can pull it off.
  14. Super Bowl XX highlight show on ESPN at 1:30 central today.
  15. Brett Favre is coming back for 2007. We have to deal with another fairwell tour. BEAR DOWN, CHICAGO BEARS!
  16. Make a case-who should have made it from the Bulls? I can't see anybody who could beat anybody out that got picked for the reserves. Gordon definitely deserved to make it and Deng could've made it too, but I understand Deng not making it. There were two Pistons that made it, two Wizards (both very deserving, so I won't say anything about that), and two NETS that made it. How can two Nets make the All-Star Game? Kidd's had a good year, but Carter hasn't really been as good as he usually has been this season. Gordon deserved to make it over VC and probably one of the Pistons as well. Carter has more points, rebounds, and assists per game than Gordon. Also, Carter has less TO's-Carter has been better in every single category. Hamilton is the same way except for assists, where he is tied with Gordon. Billups is the only interesting case-but they wanted another point guard, and Billups is averaging 18 points, 7.6 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.2 TO's, while Gordon has 21.5 points, 3.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.1 TO's. Billups really edges him out in that comparison. Yeah, the only other reason you can make a case for Gordon over Billups, is Gordon played 10 more games. Carmello missed 15 games and isn't on the team, so the 10 games Billups missed could have put Grdon over the top.

I don't think team record should be much of a factor in selections.

  20. UVA wins 68-66 in OT. Duke got a hell of a look there with 1 second left.
  21. regardless of their record and ranking this year, duke really doesn't impress me this year Agreed. They seem like a future 3 seed who won't make the Sweet 16. Unimpressive, but highly ranked. Yes, I made a prediction, please don't freak out anyone.
  22. Nice car, but not for 125k.
  23. Duke-UVA to OT
  24. They sandwiched a win against horrendous ASU for a 1-5 stretch. Before that they beat a horrendous Oregon St. team following a loss to WSU. It's crazy that team is still #20 in one of the polls. They should be out for sure now. Upset Watch - #10 Duke up 2 at UVA, 1 min left.
