  1. Too bad Weaver didn't resign. According to a columnist down in St. Louis you would be bringing a power house to training camp with Weaver and Wilson.
  2. 1 year $1 Million per AP. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6422044
  3. I briefly worked for an Arena League team, but no I can't say I care about the AFL. The game just didn't do it for me.
  4. I don't know how famous it is, or if it is even a "Indiana" thing, but those Hoosiers make a mean fried pork sandwich. They take this huge, but really thin pork tenderloin patty and fry it up. Good stuff. They could also put some "Big Ten's" from Pizza Express on the line. It is nothing compaired to Chicago pizza, but it's still good. The Subway where Jared lost all his weight is in Bloomington, so maybe some Subs.
  5. Nice story about Lovie and Big Sandy, Texas on ESPN.com http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs06/news/story?id=2744049
  6. The neighbor to the South is always watching! :) Huh?
  7. Exactly. Hypocrisy is a beautiful thing, huh?
  8. And yet an injury ravaged U of I team with a coach that is nothing special without Bill Self's kids just beat IU. Yes they did. We'll see them again though, on their way to the NIT. Not sure I'd be on my high horse if I was an IU fan. You've got to dig pretty far back into that nostalgic past to find any glory. As for the future, I doubt there will be any IU national titles coming, maybe forever. You doubt IU will ever win another national championship? Ever? Um, ok. I'm not going to take a bunch of crap from Illinois fans, they have to go all the way back to, never to talk about any of their own National Championships. We have to go far back to find any kind of glory at IU? We were in the National Title game 5 years ago. Um then our glory would be two years ago. Of course Illinois had some glory two years ago, like IU did 5 years ago (Illinois has still never had the ultimate glory though). If you acutally read the post I was responding to the poster saying IU hasn't had any glory in a long time. Everything isn't about Illinois.

  10. Doesn't look good. Only down 4 points at halftime. That's not bad.

  12. First off I'm not a Illinois fan I hate Illinois. The fact remains is that Indiana has a dirty coach. One of these days he will get caught. I was refferring to XZero's "exactly" in reply to your post. Sampson did violate NCAA rules, and he was caught. I wouldn't bet on it happening again. He has millions of reasons not to cheat. If he violates any rules, IU can void his contract, and he'll have a tough time finding work as good as what he has. Until there is any proof of anything going on at IU, you guys just sound like sore losers. Doesn't look like it is going to happen, but I hope your boys beat Bucky today.
  13. HAHA. You guys are desperate. IU is playing better than Illinois. IU is recruiting better than Illinois. IU is a program on the rise, while you all are figuring out your coach is nothing special without Bill Self's kids. You realize your shot is over, your little run for the last few years has ended, and your program still doesn't have a championship to show for it. You have no evidence of any violations at IU, but you say this "just wait" garbage, because you have nothing, and you had your facts wrong. HAHA.
  14. How things have changed in the last 6 months. 6 months ago, I would have wanted Illinois to kill Purdue, but this IU-UI rivalry has become so intense very quickly, and I found myself rooting for freaking Purdue to win a game. HA HA HA you have beat us once in the last what, 5 years now? I wouldn't say it is too intense just yet. Whatever this rivalry is between IU and UI has nothing to do with any games in the last 5 years. It's all about EJ. We got him, and craziness ensued (By the way, he scored 50 points again tonight in high school). There was no IU-UI rivalry 8 months ago. IU's rivals were UK and PU. UI's rival was Mizzou, I guess. All the real bad blood between these two programs surrounds a recruit, who decided to go to IU. Remember when we just beat you. That was fun. Wow, it's going to be like that, huh? Ok, remember what the standings look like. Remember that when Kelvin has the Hoosiers on probation. I think Illini fans can handle being below Indiana in the standings, seeing that it is truly a rare occurrence of late. What probation is IU on? There have been no violations at IU.

  16. I'll watch what ESPN News shows, because it's the Bears, but media day is pretty worthless. It will be 1,000 people asking Rex why he sucks, and asking other Bears why Rex sucks. ESPN just had the most quality report on the SB EVAR tonight. They not only pointed out that the Colt defense has been good against the run in the playoffs, but that the Colts and Bears had the same PPG average in the regular season. That is some breaking news there. They are already out of material.

  18. That's it? Looked like a seaon ender on TV. Rex Grossman's initial diagnosis in 2005 during the halftime show of that preseason game was a sprained ankle. In 2004 it was a knee sprain. I'd imagine it will take some further examination (i.e. MRI) to really tell what happened to Big Ben. Yeah, hopefully it's just a strain, but I'm still worried about it.
  19. Health is a need of any team. However, moreso on this team than most others given the recent and current health issues. I agree with him here. Like I said, I disagree that if Z's contract is looming during the season it will not affect his performance. But, it is a huge concern for the future of the team, which is another point in the article. I partially agree with him here. I believe it is wrong to assume Floyd will be starting. I also believe it is wrong to assume Murton will be starting. I disagree with him here. Wood will be in the bullpen for 2007, but his comments show that he feels it is necessary to do so, so he can become a starter. I dont think its going to be a problem. I disagree with him here. We can win with Soriano at leadoff, Perry acknowledges that as well, but it would not be the optimal way to use him. I agree with him here. While I may not agree completely with every little point he makes, I completely agree with the overall theme of the article, the cubs spent a lot of money this offseason, did not plan well for the future, and still are not clear favorites to win the division. To each his own. If I disagreed with a canidate that often, I wouldn't vote for him, and if I disagreed with an article that often, I wouldn't defend it.

  22. Those are all fine premises for articles, but they arent what this article is about. However, the fact that this article states that there are no favorites for the NL central, implies all of those things you've said above. I guess some people just blindly hate certain journalists or anyone who says anything discouraging about the cubs. Thats your perogative, but the fact that you're argument against the article does not actually mention anything in the article, says a lot. I didn't see the need in sitting here rehashing line for line what has already been said. I commented that his contention that we need to be healthy is about as obvious as it gets and is true for every team in the league. Why does Wood have to be the closer? If Dempster plays like he did in 05, we are fine at closer. What impact does Zambrano's 08 contract have on his 07 season? None. Mark Prior needs to be healthy, you think? Soriano will bat leadoff and we can absolutly win with him there. Wood is "warming to the idea of pitching in relief"? He signed a contract KNOWING he will only pitch in relief when he could have gone elsewhere for a chance to start. He has incentives for games finished, but none for games started, I think he is beyond "warming up to the idea." I have not seen anything from the Cubs implying Floyd took Murton's starting job. This is weak journalism. He makes a bunch of obvious statements that could be done for any team and then gets some facts wrong. You can call it blind hate or whatever you want, a 2nd grader could write a better and more informative column. Yes, any team in any sport nees to be healthy. The point is, that the cubs have more players (and more important players) that were injured last year/we are not confident they are healthy this year. Its not news or anything, but if you are reading an article from a journalist (other than Bruce, of course) and are expecting anything really new and insightful, then you have to be kidding yourself. Wood doesnt have to be the closer, but Dempster pitched about as well as he did in 2005, last year and it didn't work out too well for him (a convo that has already ocurred in a different thread). I think his point is that Z doesnt need the extra distraction during the season. I don't necessarily agree with taht point, but a second theme of his article is that Hendry has not done a good job of focusing on the future this offseason. Not locking up Z is a good point in that argument. Soriano is much better suited to hit in the middle of the order, not leadoff. We all know this. We CAN win with him at leadoff, but its not going to help as much as he could. Everything I've read from Wood is that he sees pitching in relief in 07 as a necessary step to proving he is healthy enough to be a starter in 08. The contract that Floyd signed could be assumed as proof that if Floyd is healthy he will get significant time. Like I said, I wouldnt assume either way. So you are agreeing his point about being healthy was obvious and true of any team. You agree Z's contract doesn't impact his 2007 season. You agree he is wrong to assume Floyd has LF. You agree Wood has already accepted a bullpen roll for 2007. You agree we can win with Soriano hitting leadoff. You agree with all these points, disagreesing with the author of the article, yet you STILL defend the article?
