  1. See sticky(s)...although last time I did the calc a month or so ago we were at $108M with bonuses, $100M without.
  2. Keeping Matt Murton in RF and investing the $ in improving SS>>>>>>>>>>>> Signing Fukudome for 4 years 10-15M >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Trading the Farm for Crawford
  3. Why would the Cubs pay any part of it? They didn't have to pay Monroe in the first place if they didn't want to. If we are actually getting a player of value back. But who would trade a crappy overpriced player for players of value?...well besides Hendry.
  4. Give him a break, EJ confirmed that ESPN was reporting both Crawford and Monroe in the same update. Who knows if he misheard or they misspoke, but we now know that Monroe may be heading to Minny and the Cubs are interested in Crawford. No need to pile on.
  5. wth? Not to question your reputability but I would take any rumor of a trade involving a bad player who isn't even under the Cubs control over a good player with a grain of salt No prob, just repeating what I heard on the update at 11am from wmvp Where the hell is it 11 am? Hailifax?
  6. Cedeno could probably be had for a marginal prospect at this point. Quite a collection of marginal middle infielders. I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but I looked through most of the thread and didn't see it anywhere else. In the SI.com piece, towards the end it says: I had never heard anything about Ronny in the outfiled until now. Is this just posturing, or are they really that crazy? I really hope there is something going on behind the scenes on this. I saw the interview. He said that Fuld and Pie would fight it out for CF because that position is a speed & defense position. He then expressly said that RF would be addressed through Free Agency or Trade. For better or worse, that means Murton will not be our everyday RF. I know most of us want Fukodome (from what's available) and figure we'll get Randy Winn. The silver lining is if Hendry is going speed and D in CF, he'll get a "bat" in RF. Let's see what Hendry considers a "bat." Heres a crazy idea....IMPROVE AT SHORTSTOP. Fukudome is not a $10-$15M improvement over Murton.
  7. see, this was my thought also. BUT. why did Hendry feel the need to trade Jones for a ML player? a prospect would have been fine. looks like a 25 man roster move to complete the trade was required. i agree i would outright Infante, but Hendry is not that smart. imho this is payback for Neif! Dombrowski wins this one. this 'savings' basically amounts to a Wood deal in a 'tight' year. sign Wood and bring on Fukudome, Jimmy... The tigers probably didn't want to trade prospects for him. Or at least any prospects that had a chance of making the bigs.
  8. When he reminds us all that he'll wear KOSUKE on his MLB jersey. Why exactly is that? I know Ichiro does it, but you didn't see Hideo Nomo with "Hideo" on his jersey. So Taguchi's jersey doesn't say "So." Chan Ho Park's jersey doesn't say "Chan." Did Tuffy Rhodes' jersey say "Tuffy?" It kind of bothers me that Ichiro did it and this guy is supposedly doing it too. This guy is doing it because another player (can't recall who) warned him what Fukudome could be confused for in English. If I understand right, he has Fukudome on his jersey in Japan, but will change it for translation reasons in the States. As stated earlier in the thread, it was some friendly advice from Alex Ochoa, who told him the surname "FUKUDOME" wouldn't quite translate to American culture for obvious reasons. Why did Ichiro do it? Was he just so widely known as Ichiro, like a Cher or Madonna type thing, that he decided to go with that instead of Suzuki?
  9. If the suggestion that Hendry is paying only Jacque's signing bonus, the savings are closer to $3.5. Infante's not winning $2.0 in arbitration. Punch Drunk may wind up giving it to him, but an arbiter won't. $6.33 (Jacque) - $1.33 (payment to Detroit) - $1.5 (Infante) = $3.5 Sorry...I think this is correct
  10. Guys, we freed up like $2M, we aren't talking about a ton of money here.
  11. I agree, but an RF upgrade is not that difficult. Really? Guys out OPS over 800 don't grow on trees.
  12. But the fall is going to come more in the rotation than the in the pen.
  13. hilarity
  14. Is that really a question? Is there something I don't know about Patterson? That Colvin isn't that great. Well, I know that. But I didn't think Patterson was supposed to be any good. PECOTA LOVES him
  15. Ok, this is bothering me for some reason. I see, Iwamura, Crawford, Kazmir and Pena. Who's the other guy? James Shields
  16. Is that really a question? Is there something I don't know about Patterson? That Colvin isn't that great.
  17. Commentator: Thats ridiculous. Hilarious.
  18. Go UCLA!!! Stop running backwards
  19. Better than getting Grenzo'ed
  20. HUGE UGH, I hate it that now we are playing to punt.
