The trade doesn't really make sense for either team. The sox should be blowing this thing up, but they are moving in the opposite direction. To their credit, they just traded a Type B FA for a Type A FA. With Garland being better in 06 and OCab being better in 07, unless anything drastic happens they will probably stay in those types. He also frees up money, but he'll probably spend it foolishly on Hunter/Rowand. Unfortunately for him, he picked up Uribe's option and theres no market for trading him. On the Angels side of the table, they have competent youngsters that could step in and do just as well if not better than Garland. However, Garland is going to a better park for pitchers, maybe they think his HR will cut down. Both players are well overrated and as of now don't fit into either team's plans. We'll have to see how this one plays out, but I think we just saw a trade between two organizations that have no clue where they are/should be going.
