  1. Based on the rumors from yesterday, I think we could pull off a blockbuster with the O's. Prior and Demp to Tx for Laird. Murton for Teahen Marshall for Hamilton Laird, Teahen, Hamilton, Marmol, Theriot, Gallagher for Miggy, Bedard, and Roberts. Marquis and Veal for Ibanez. I's can deal Hernandez and Mora like they want to. They get a catcher, CF, 3B, closer, and SS. All young, cheap, and good (except for Theriot).
  2. There are a lot of teams out there looking for new 3bs. We've already heard rumors about the O's, reds, and buds. Brewers, dodgers rangers, cards have been mentioned too.
  3. The usually optimistic James projects 979 OPS for Hamilton next year.
  4. Sullivan just reported the Reds asked for Marshall in exchange for Hamilton and we can get McLouth for a crappy reliever.
  5. Sullivan is reporting that its the Reds who are asking for Marshall. Pull the trigger!
  6. Wouldn't be a bad alternative to Fukudome at all. We only pay 4M more per year and upgrade from Marquis to Damon. As per the usual...did you hear this, or is it just an idea?
  7. What do Prior and next year have to do with one another? He won't be healthy until midseason and that's still a pretty big if. If prior won't sign a 2 year deal, I say get what you can for him now when at least there might be a little competition for him.
  8. i don't blame the twins though. the rumored offers for santana have been incredibly weak. Meh. If you think about it, teams are really paying.a posting fee to negotiate a long term deal with Santana. Not really. It's not like he can just decide he's not happy with the contract and never pitch for them. At the bare minimum, they get him for a full season. Then they have a long time to negotiate a contract, and if worse comes to worst, they still get draft picks. Based on everything reported any team acquiring him will demand a window to discuss a contract extension with him. If they can't come to an agreement, the deal doesnt happen. So IRS pretty much the same as a posting fee.

  10. Chones babip also came with a 26% LD rate and as mentioned earlier a huge amount of GBs. It realty wasn't terribly flukey. In precious years he's also posted LD rates over 20%. Take a look at him compared to someone like Michael Young. They aren't too dissimilar. If he keeps on hitting liners and GBs he could definitely repeat his 2007 #s.
  11. that would be an awesome lefty eighty closing tandem with woody (and good insurance).
  12. The "hold out for more" approach that both the marlins and twins are taking this offseason is maddening (but seemingly effective).
  13. believe it or not, but power is also important out of the leadoff spot. Afterall, that's the guy who gets the most amount of plate appearances. I'd prefer to have one of my better jitters there than figgins etc.
  14. and that's what makes him especially valuable. Not just to the As, but to other teams as well
  15. I think he's only played 20 some games there in his career. And didn't his defense get panned when he was in the infield? Still I'm guessing he can play it just as well as Theriot.
  16. Hes definitely a surplus, but considering he was their best hitter last year and is signed for cheap, there will probably be a pretty decent price to pay. Assuming they sign Kuroda, they could still probably use another starter. Maybe they'd want some competition for Jose Lopez at second. We'd probably have to throw in a couple decent prospects.
  17. Link I posted this yesterday in the Kaz thread, but it should be here. Possibly realistic trade targets: Hamilton Dunn Griffey Ibanez Church Scott Drew Garrett Anderson Ethier McLouth Kubel Crawford FAs: Green Lofton Jenkins Bradley Bonds Ok, based on Hendry wanting "a guy who can run", I'll add a few names Possibly realistic trade targets: Dave Roberts Damon Matthews Jr. (switch) Wittenmyer said Ibanez is high on the cubs list. Couple more FA names since I'm trying to make this an all inclusive list... Trot Nixon Wilkerson Hinske
  18. Not sure. Looking at what the Dodgers and Angels have said in regards to negotiations, I could see the Marlins wanting Pie, Soto, Murton, and Gallagher. They might prefer Marmol to one of those. Yikes. If you can get them to replace soto with Marmol i might do it. otherwise, no. It leaves us with more holes than it fills, then. Maybe. If they also signed Fukudome, he plays CF while Cabrera & Soriano cover LF/RF...however it gets ironed. Quite frankly, I'll live with Cabrera in the OF with his bat doing the damage that it does, especially since he said he'd play wherever his new team waned him. Make sure he hits the treadmill and start crushing. That's true. I didn't think about Fukudome. The thought of his fat arse in right field scares me, but his bat would certainly make up for it. So I might just do that deal. If nothing else, our lineup would be sick. Soriano Fukudome Lee Ramirez Cabrera Soto DeRosa Theriot? Something like that. Cabrera + Fukudome = Way over budget. YOu realize cabrera only made just over 7 million last year, right? In 2005 Soriano made 7.5M in his second to last year of arbi. For his last year, he submitted 12, Washington submitted 10, and Washington won. He was coming off of an 821 OPS year and an 808 OPS year...and he was turning 30. Miguel Cabrera made 7.4M in his first year of arbi last year. Hes coming off of 966 and 998 OPS years and is 24. He'll make 12, very minimum.
  19. Top 10 are up.. I don't see how McCutchen can retain a top 10 spot after doing a whole lot of nothing in Altoona this year.
  20. Wow, Talk about an overstatement. I would like to see Tim Stauffer instead of LeBlanc God, I wouldn't. This isn't 2005, Stauffer sucks.

  22. makes no sense for the orioles. If they are rebuilding, why get rolen?
  23. already being talked about in the prior thread.
