  1. With great care. Two words...athletic supporter.
  2. Since we are now talking about MLEs, I'll quote myself here... Also, do Theriot supporters realized that he had one month, ONE, where he OPSed over 700 last year?
  3. They are both on my fantasy team, so lets hope they both are awesome.
  4. You never know, he could die in a fight with a reporter. :D
  5. Theriot is no Adam Everett. If he were, this thread would (or maybe rather should) be quite different.
  6. It wouldn't be a horrible idea to sell high on Hamilton to eliminate risk and get some certainty, but obviously Bay, Rowand, and Burnett accomplish neither. Shields is probably done as having value even in a league that counts holds, hes simply been way too overworked. Hamilton and Shields are both good guys to deal, but Bay, Rowand (hello replacement level), and Burnett are the opposite of the type of players you'd want.
  7. I'm guessing this was already brought up but Theriot's minor league MLE in 2005 was 258/313/341 with a 234 EqA. In 2006 it was 268/327/335 for a 242 EqA. Both of those lines are really close to his 2007 line.
  8. Yet on the same damn page they say Theriot should be at the bottom of the order and DeRosa should lead off some of the time. Contradict much?

  10. With Marquis and Dempster in the rotation, we're going to need a 12-man staff. I don't think so. Lieber is stretched out enough to pitch 3-4 innings in mop up if needed. If Marshall is on the staff, he also should be able to do more than an inning. Furthermore, we have enough arms with major league experience at Iowa that we can just shuttle them back and forth if the bullpen gets over worked. I think having the extra bat on the bench would be of greater value than the arm in the pen. Exactly. There are going to be off days and rain outs in the first few weeks. Everybody is going in fresh. The worst that can happen is you realize in two weeks you need another arm, then you call somebody up. But there's no reason why you can't get by with 5 starters and 6 relievers right now. Tandem start 2 of Lieber, Dempster and Marquis.
  11. Soriano at 2b is nearly as unlikely as Marmol at C. Soriano played one inning at 2B last season. Yeah, I'll take the under for this season.
  12. Weeks in the 22nd?
  13. i prefer the dependability and certainty of maddux
  14. Last year's stats. I don't have full data, but these are the amount of ABs + BBs by order in Cub lineup. #1 757 #2 735 #3 716 #4 698 #5 683 #6 669 #7 655 #8 628 #9 602 I am sure some of you have sacrifice and HBP data to do a better job of this. But the amount of ABs that Theriot would take from far superior hitters is ridiculous. David Eckstein gives me hope that this is not fatal. Just stupid. Yeah that more or less is about the average differences in lineup spots over the course of the year. I'm a firm believer in getting your best players the most PAs and your worst the least.
  15. Some non-traditional stats, but that would be a team I wouldn't have a problem going to war with in my 12 team league, so looks good for a 14 team league.
  16. PECOTA's 75% BA/HR/SB/R/RBI 306/22/3/88/93---27% breakout, 64% improvement ERA/K/W/WHIP 3.73/163/13/1.32---32% breakout, 59% improvement Both of those are right around what I said, I'm not pulling it out of my ass (of course not everyone reaches their 75% PECOTA)
  17. Im taking the slightly optimistic on both of them... BA/HR/SB/R/RBI 300/24/2/90/90 (assuming they come to their senses and move him to the middle of that lineup) ERA/K/W/WHIP 3.85/160/13/1.38 (much improved Ray defense) Even if they fall short, they are going to be great value for 18th and 19th round picks.
  18. 12 team, 5x5, roto, first 5 rounds were keeper, 25 man draft. I made a trade for 2 extra draft picks (and lost my last 2). C McCann (6) 1B Helton (9) 2B Phillips (K) SS Rollins (K) 3B Braun (K) CI Encarnacion (16) MI Weeks (8) OF Hart (K) OF Hamilton (11) OF Taveras (14) OF Milledge (15) Util Butler (19) SP Beckett (K) SP Smoltz (7) SP Lincecum (9) SP Gallardo (10) P Pedro (12) P C.J. Wilson (17) RP K-Rod (7) RP Lidge (13) Bench Garza (18) Lugo (20) Bradley (21) Prior (22) Bonds (23) I was salivating over having two picks in the 7th and 9th (2nd and 4th rounds of actual drafting), but all of "my guys" were getting taken, mostly hitters. So, as what usually happens early in the draft, I get flustered, but at least this year I had deep enough contingency plans to not completely blow it. I reached a bit on Weeks (but I'm a big believer), and Helton (but my backups of Loney and Garko went right afterwards). I also had to reach a bit with my OF, but thats because after 10 rounds of drafting, I still had 3 open OF spots. Still though, I believe its better to take the guys you want a round or 2 early. Don't get stuck with guys that you aren't happy with but are OK values. I think I drafted too many steals and not enough power, although theres a ton of potential. I like the whole, speed/power guys, but also wanted to take a couple all speed guys for trading purposes (and Taveras and Lugo were great values). I'm very happy with my average. Thats something that always kills me and is impossible to fix. Should be pretty good on runs and RBIs. Pitching-wise there was a lot of talent left in 9-12 rounds. Lincecum will lack on the wins, but the rest of my guys should be able to pick him up. I was targeting lots of other guys, but am happy with Lincecum, Gallardo, and Pedro out of that bunch. A lot of my late guys got taken, but Garza was one of my favs and, I'm good at the waiver wire. And finally, theres nothing like end game upside with Prior and Bonds. Its unbelievable how many guys take replacement level players in the last few rounds.
  19. What type of guys will be around with the 17th pick?
  20. Its like you got inside my brain and drafted.
  21. His stats don't really matter. It was a high upside, big risk for injury guy for a really solid arm. Hamilton healthy is really good, the question is, is he going to stay healthy. ST stats have very little to do with that.
  22. Ryan Theriot is just about the most tailor made player to bat 9th behind the pitcher as could be. STFU Lou.
  23. Hamilton (if you use yahoo) Blalock, Bradley, Maddux, Milledge, Unit, Garza, Towles, Harden, Kelly Johnson, Justin Upton, Hermida, BJ Ryan, Lidge, Hughes, Weaver, Percival, Kelvim Escobar, Gagne.
