It's not luck; that's grit. Can't be, it goes in the book as a CS - CS is the enemy of the grit. im pretty sure in the GRIT calculation CS*0 is included (ie its ignored in calculating grit)

I'm all for honoring the dude. Give every player in the majors jersey patches if you want to. I just don't see the point in retiring the number if it's going to be allowed to be worn. I know it's a different issue, but I'd be ticked if a Bull wore MJ's 23 no matter what the intent was. Do you know who Jackie Robinson is? Thank you for addressing the point. I know full well who Jackie is. He deserves honoring. But if you're retiring a number league-wide, retire it 365 days a year, not 364. You might as well let people wear it year-round anyway - that's what a lot of people were doing before Bud retired it. My question absolutely addressed the point. While Michael Jordan and Jackie Robinson were both greats in their respective sport, thats where their similarities end. Its completely ignorant to try to make that analogy. They aren't honoring Jackie Robinson for being an awesome baseball player, they are honoring him for breaking the color barrier in modern baseball and his influence on American society to end segregation.

Who ever said anything to the contrary? Large numbers of the mainstream baseball media one day a year. Since when did anyone agree with what mainstream baseball media said (sorry Bruce)?

Am I the only one who thinks the 42 thing is kind of stupid? Nope. What's stupid about it? What's the point of retiring a number in the first place if you're going to let it be worn again every year? Gee, I don't know...maybe to freakin honor him? You're honoring him by retiring the number!!! So that means you can't dedicate one day out of a 200 day season to honor one of the most important people not only in the game of baseball but in the development of tolerance in our country? Are you serious?

Yeah I know. Who wants 7 innings of 1-hit baseball when you could get 1 inning of walks? sample size? Pulling any of them would be stupid. But even mentioning that Dempster should even be in the discussion, at this moment, regarding pulling pitchers is beyond stupid. I don't think anyones getting pulled right now. I can't see Lou going with Liebs over anyone, but I'm a firm believer in not letting 2 starts have a significant influence in how I value a pitcher.

I'd leave him in to see if he can settle down in the second. Don't forget about the pen being insanely burned, us visiting the offensive environment of philly next, and only having one day off in the next 17 days.

He's one of the top 2nd baseman in the league besides Utley and Phillips but totally agree with what you are saying. Good maybe even underrated, but definitely nowhere near Utley. hudson is average, not great. check out those road splits
