  1. Kinda annoying that we haven't heard who you'll be getting...
  2. I'll be disappointed if Bay is a Pirate and Manny is a Red Sock at the end of the day. Heyman says the bucs get 4 minor leaguers.
  3. BP guys are hearing something like this as well...
  4. BP guys are hearing it might be off... now the reports are springing back up that manny for bay is back on and the rays are off jesus...when in the hell will all of this get squared away? and possibly the 3 team deal back on... the answer is soon, soon my friend. now rosenthal says its dead...again
  5. It takes time for stuff to leak out...remember Nomar wasn't announced until after the deadline.
  6. no, i think that was someone pulling it out of their butt. The white sox are interested in Hanrahan though.

  8. Rosenthal and Carroll saying the 3 team deal might be back on...
  9. 2007 and 2008 have taken a little luster off, but it's not like he hit poorly for a SS, and he's still only 22. Thanks, I know the Rays are loaded on prospects. Would it be safe to assume that they are pitching loaded? I know of Price and Hellickson. Well, they had some quality bats but Delmon Young got traded and Evan Longoria graduated to the bigs. They were always deeper with arms (Price, Hellickson, Davis, McGee, Niemann). Desmond Jennings and Tim Beckham say hello.
  10. Well this year 2 huge names (Sabathia and Harden) were dealt way before the deadline and Teixiera was dealt a few days before.
  11. Pie would be a success if he became DeJesus with the bat. He's significantly better with the glove. Good point on the defensive difference. I'm kind of leaning right now toward thinking a Pie + something deal would be worth DeJesus. Veal? I was thinking Ceda, but Veal would work too. I find Veal more valuable than Ceda - mainly because Veal's a starter - do you agree? Ceda is far more valuable as a prospect and at this point, Veal is starting to look like a potential reliever. Hmm, interesting. I was still under the (mistaken, I suppose) impression that Veal had legit starting potential. I knew he had bad control problems, but didn't realize they were that bad. It'd be one thing if there was any sort of improvement, but there hasn't. He has spurts but then he gets back into terrible control mode. At the same time his walk rate remains consistantly terrible, his K rate has dropped from great to good to average/below average.
  12. The problem is that the White Sox don't have anything to deal really.
  13. I don't. Veal can't seem to get his walks under control. Ceda's got his own control issues, but at least he's got nearly unhittable stuff to offset it. Control is definitely a concern - I'm not utterly sold on Ceda though. He's the type of guy I'd like to ship off while his value is really high. which was last offseason I didn't know it had dropped. Well, this year confirmed that he absolutely can't be converted to a starter. Hes done really well in AA back in relief so maybe its remained neutral.

  15. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3512948&name=mlb_trade_deadline Wait, ESPN making up Yanks/Red Sox drama???? Insanity!
  16. No, hes hurt. Theres a difference.
  17. Hahaha, maybe i'm not so upset I don't have ESPNews yeah, it's really nothing special you aren't going to learn anything more from that than if you keep on refreshing here and mlbtraderumors
  18. Not likely if the Cubs are shopping Eyre. Most likely they are going to get very very little for Eyre, so why not keep him. If shopping Eyre blocks a Milton Bradley acquisition then this team is [expletive]. And we have Cotts anyway.
  19. Word today is that the Reds are asking for A LOT. The Rays have a lot to give up, but Heyman said the Reds wanted Niemann AND Hellickson. Thatd be quite a haul.
  20. They want young SP....Sean Marshall?
  21. No, he is. He got Carlos Gomez and peanuts for Johan Santana, and Gomez isn't even that good. I'd be surprised if Gomez ever became a >.800 OPS guy, although he does have great defense and pretty good speed. (But he's not that good of a basestealer) Imagine how good the Twins would be with both Liriano and Santana? They'd probably lead the Central by 8 games. But who could have reasonably expected the AL central to be so easy this year? It was looking like the Tigers and Indians were going to be in a dogfight until the end and both wind up wth 90+ wins. I don't blame them for selling last year. And we really don't know how to judge the Santana trade without really knowing what the other offers were. It sounded like the Red Sox were giving up a lot more, but who knows. Really they weren't trading Santana, they were trading the right to sign Santana to a market rate deal. Theres a big difference there.
  22. I'm pretty sure I heard them say on the radio that the Reds are sending $4MM as well. Hes owed roughly 4M for the rest of 2008. I also heard that the Reds would be paying the rest of his 2008 salary, but no one said anything about the $4M buy out that he'll have this offseason.
