  1. Haha, I'd rather see Florida or Alabama hammered, but USC/Kiffin would work fine for me. My vote would be for a team outside the SEC, other than USC. ...although, I'd probably gain some satisfaction watching the mouthbreathers in my state squirm again. They certainly sling enough fecal matter hoping some of it, any of it will stick. what would the media do if their darling Saban were being investigated?
  2. Isn't HBO or somebody doing a story on Bond' tapes or something like that? If so, that's another angle Bond and Moore could be pumping up. I'm not going to link sports by brooks, but I'm told even he seems to think that Moore's assertions aren't accurate. I'm sure you'd consider sports by brooks a solid source if he said otherwise Brooks doesn't seem to have a bevy of his own sources. He just rehashes other reports, generally. He is a Georiga graduate who has been quick to regurgitate anything he can find that portrays AU in a negative light in recent times. he happens to be on the other side of the fence in this scenario which i thought was odd...i don't believe he's a solid source either way though...

  4. I tend to agree with this. On the Tennessee part of the rumors - while it wouldn't surprise me in the least (I kind of expect it) to find out that Lane was offering up cash for players, offering for Cam would be odd. It took Lane a while to even offer a scholarship to Cam and he was very skeptical about whether Cam would fit his system or not. It seems like quite a jump to go from questioning whether you should even offer a scholarship all the way to offering 200k in cash for the player. Again, though, it wouldn't stun me if true. Tiderinsider is evidently 'reporting' that John Bond will appear on Scott Moore's new radio show in two weeks and play these supposed tapes. My perception is that the NCAA has already heard these tapes and John Bond is now cashing in on them....and Scott Moore gave the interview on which he mentioned these tapes as part of a marketing campaign for his show.
  5. Has anyone heard the tape? I'll reserve judgement until I personally hear the audio, but I've been told that Cecil makes no mention of Auburn offering money in this tape. If Cecil were sitting across a negotiating table from you, would you believe him if he told you he had another offer from Tennessee, Auburn, or any other school? I wouldn't trust Cecil to employ good faith negotiating tactics. at this point, I doubt Moore has heard any audio that the NCAA and FBI haven't already heard. I also doubt that he's heard an audio that makes it truly evident that Cam was in the room when Cecil was negotiating with MSU boosters. The Cam Newton scandal is big business...clicks on your website, listeners on your radio show, etc...just ask Thayer Evans, Sports by Brooks, or Paul Finebaum. Moore is supposed to have a new radio show in the Huntsville, AL market in the near future from what I've heard, and I'm sure this little interview he gave on another radio show will drum up some listeners. I'll wait to see how it plays out, but I'm skeptical about the validity of this report.
  6. well, i can see he's off to a good start in thinking before speaking. good deal.
  7. I think that Toomer's Corner thing is really sad, but holy [expletive], that's funny. If it happened to a school other than one I attended, I'd probably laugh at that Avatar clip...the guy who did it has kids named Chrimson and Bear and a dog also named Bear...lmao. On a brighter note, a group of Alabama fans is raising money to help Auburn deal with the situation...8k so far which I doubt will pay for much, but it's something positive...
  8. Yeah, I'm hearing that now too...sounds like that is a done deal.
  9. dammit shnsajax..Mack Brown is now trying to pilfer Tommy Thigpen, our safeties coach. To be fair, Thigpen's relationship with Brown precedes Thigpen's employment at AU, but it does seem that Texas has tried to hire an AU coach for pretty much every opening they've had since 2005. edit - if Thigpen does leave for Texas, we'll probably target Grainsilo Guilford.
  10. Not really. Auburn is a bunch of dirty, dirty cheaters. I'm sure you understand why Tennessee fans would love for Taylor to be involved with some type of scandal. Oh, and how, specifically, has the AU football program cheated in recent times? they didn't even oversign with this recruiting class. edit - I'll be here to 'take my medicine' if it's proven that Auburn cheated in any way.
  11. I haven't read everything that has been written about the workout, but I don't see how anything he could have done would be that significant. the workout was every bit as much about keeping Cam's name in the forefont of the draft talk as it was about showcasing his technique from under center.
  12. Brooks posts a rumor on his facebook, not naming a coach specifically, and Tennessee forums want to immediately start talking about Trooper Taylor again. Should this surprise me?
  13. Cyrus Kouandjio has chosen Bama...bleh.
  14. I was very pleased to see Mississippi State have subpar recruiting year.
  15. ...and this Gabe Wright kid is a real character. He's a 4 star DT recruit who strung both AU and UT along as has been documented in this thread. When he sat down to sign his LOI today, he put on an Auburn hat that had "Nick Who?" written on the cap.....referring to Nick Fairley. I'm glad he signed with AU, but I'm not a big fan of his antics.
  16. Rasco is a big pickup for LSU, and you are referring to Jeremy Hill...who is charged with oral sexual battery. He evidently let a freshman blow him in his school bathroom. She is 14, he's 18, and he was considered a very talented RB recruit. 'Was' being the key word...I wonder if he'll have to serve time for this....
  17. I'm hearing that his parents wanted him to join his brother at Bama and are wanting to visit AU before giving their blessing....but that is not from a super reliable source. Auburn can survive without him considering the other OL that signed in this class, but none are as physically gifted as Cyrus. It would sting to lose both Calloway and Kouandjio to Alabama on signing day.
  18. I'd hope they are happy...that class is extremely top heavy.
  19. Wow, Auburn put together a hell of an OL at the last minute. not really last minute...Dismukes enrolled in January and will compete for a starting job in spring training. Robinson was an early December commit. Westerman commited about a month ago. Kouandjio is the only one who was undecided until today. In fact, he's still undecided. He chose AU on ESPN today, but we haven't received his LOI. He's wavering, evidently....not good. edit - ...but AU did just receive Gabe Wright's LOI....and I understand why Tennessee guys would speak badly of the kid now. Like I said, he commited to both UT and AU some time ago, and both universities were confident he would sign with them.
  20. Brent Calloway is a highly regarded LB/RB prospect who was a Bama commit and then flipped to Auburn and has now flipped back to Bama on signing day. He wanted to play RB, and AU was going to give him the opportunity, but his father wants him to play LB at Bama....Anyway, that was bad news...but AU did just get revenge. Cyrus Kouandjio just signed with AU. Kouandjio is the #1 offensive tackle in the nation, and his brother plays at Bama...most thought he would end up in Tuscaloosa. Auburn has an amazing offensive line class with Reese Dismukes at C, Greg Robinson at OG, and Westerman and Kouandjio at OT. They needed a big offensive line class to help replace the 4 departing seniors.
  21. AU had to replace Marcus Roberson's spot. I've heard that coaches decided not to accept Roberson's commitment yesterday and Whitehead was the contingency plan (a very nice contingency plan). I'm not sure what happened with Roberson, but I've heard there may have been a character issue that surfaced. Roberson will end up at Florida I believe..
  22. Have you ever seen Jeffrey Lee's twitter? He's the Rivals guy for Auburn, right? If so, I'm so glad that he's not our guy. He is about as unprofessional a homer as I've seen writing anywhere for any of these services. Yeah, I don't read Jeff Lee's crap...I think he tries to sell subscriptions with sensationalism at times. auburneagle is a great, free source of information for Auburn recruiting...i don't read the rivals or scout boards. ...and I agree...I still am not sure where Gabe Wright will go.
  23. I'm hearing Wright either hasn't called AU coaches tonight or he did, and it wasn't the kind of conversation they expected. It sounds like he's going to be a Vol.
  24. eh, I disagree with the 60/40 portion of your post, but I'm not going to invest much effort in debating it. Wright has led both UT and AU to believe they are the favorite for many weeks now. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/01/four-star_defensive_tackle_gab.html Marcus Roberson committed to AU today (or was that yesterday..?) He's the #2 cornerback per Rivals and is an important piece. I'm looking forward to Wednesday.
  25. Hey, in Hendry's defense, who knew Soriano's production would decline so rapidly given his technique and skillset, right?
