  1. I sincerely doubt that the difference between Soriano and Walker is worth 6.5 games.
  2. I'd like to see something like: Lawton Giles Lee Aramis Nomar Walker Patterson Barrett
  3. He might be a good pickup for a 4th OF, but I wouldn't want him starting at a corner.
  4. Oh, man! Hahahaha! This isn't actually real, is it?
  5. Gerut's only making 356,000 this year, so even with the million the pirates save a little in the short term.
  6. Thanks for the input... I assume you are his accountant, gardener or close personal friend to be able to make such a judgment? I really wish Maddux would retire, but everything I've read seems to indicate a desire to keep playing, good performance or not.
  7. Good find. Thanks, UK, I feel better about the trade.
  8. I just don't know about that. I suspect, though it's just a hunch, that Dusty is less likely to platoon Lawton than Holla. That means that a lot of ABs dry up for Murton just as he was winning more playing time. If Lawton posts a .330 OBP in the second half at Murton's expense I certainly won't be happy.
  9. I'm hardly one to defend Dusty, Cuse, but the fact is that Murton has gotten starts vs RH pitchers lately.
  10. That's definitely my concern, too. I'm still not certain I like this trade.
  11. Gerut, but that isn't really the point.
  12. But it seems like Murton has been winning more playing time lately.
  13. I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
  14. Dusty would probably go with Lawton and Hairston at the top because of Todd Walker's power.
  15. Not since 2000. I don't believe he's a candidate for everyday CF.
  16. Lawton is an excellent candid for a platoon, even more so than Hollandsworth. Murton may indeed continue to get ABs.
  17. Just checked his numbers and it looks like he hasn't played center since 2000. I expect Lawton to take over full time in left, which means Murton is probably going to be sent back down unless Holla and Gerut are both gone. I sure hope Murton didn't go to Pittsburgh as part of the deal.
  18. I sure hope Lawton can avoid his annual second-half slump. Can he play center? If so, I would keep Murton in left and start Lawton in center and lead him off.
  19. Winn sports a pretty decent OBP in a pitcher friendly park. I'd be fine with Hairston platooning with Winn in center. But, I'd also like to see an upgrade in left still. Great for Winn, but he isn't nearly enough of an upgrade to be worth giving up a player for.
  20. I hope it's not to the Cubs.
  21. If both hitters are in the lineup anyway, I'm not sure I understand how swapping them, or not swapping them, will make the lineup turn over any faster.
  22. They couldn't let you in there, you'd see the big board.
