  1. I'm pretty sure Joe Estevez is a fifth OF for the Royals. I might be wrong about that, though.
  2. Really? Watching him throw out taveras in the 9th it looked like he was throwing a changeup. Lots of arm motion, not much velocity Cuse was talking about a statement by one of the anouncers.
  3. Why was Pujols so low in the draft? I understand how someone like this can just be missed by so many.
  4. It's actually right there in plain english, CubsWin.
  5. Prior's a glassman and probably ought to be traded before his value is too low.
  6. According to that article he would have been up in July if he hadn't gotten hurt, even though he acknowledges some real problems with his patience. That certainly seems to support goony's statement.
  7. I'm really starting to dislike this organization.
  8. Because just about any time there's an option, there's also a buyout. I don't really think that's a deal-breaker, though.
  9. It's worth repeating for the inevitable apologists.
  10. I hope Crede thanked the ump for the game.
  11. Stay healthy? Just kidding, I want him back, too.
  12. And Raisin in turn made an observation about clutch hitting in general. Funny how that works.
  13. How about this: Prior, Zambrano, Wood, Maddux and Williams through the infield; cut Lee, Ramirez and Walker; and no starting pitching at all. World Series here we come!
  14. Having Castillo steal bases is misusing him, though. He's just not good enough to do it.
  15. You think Beltran is more valuable than Aramis?
  16. Is this just speculation?
  17. No Maddux?
  18. Me, too. Corey broke my heart.
  19. Prior and Wood.
  20. There really aren't that many applicable definitions of value, though.
  21. It was close, but Lee was unquestionably the better player this year. The only way Pujols actually deserves it this year is if you get creative when you define value. Here's something some of you may not quite grasp: According to equivalent average, OPS, VORP, and probably many other metrics, Lee was the best offensive player in baseball. Not just better than Pujols, but the best in the game. It's amazing that any rational person can conclude that Pujols was somehow more valuable as a ballplayer.
  22. What did Pujols do to help his team win that Lee did not? Lee was not only the better hitter, he was the much better defender.
