  1. u no it! Remember when people thought Wuertz was junk, and you were one of his only fans?
  2. They're called runs not walks, Hatteberg.
  3. I also specifically recall at least one game in which Theriot started in right and moved to left for Jones while Murton sat on the bench. He's also replaced Floyd in LF on more than one occasion.
  4. The awful Mark Ellis wins the ballgame.
  5. Tie game on Todd Walker's pinch hit single. Yay!
  6. Who are you to talk about heart? I saw you use stats in that other thread. There were all kinds of numbers in that post! I bet you even used a computer to get them.
  7. I NEVER want to see Murton catch. If you think Barrett is bad, I'd bet Murton would be worse. Murton would catch better that Barrett because Matt has one thing that Michael never will: Heart. The cold steel and silicon of a computer can't compare with the 10 ounces of veiny muscle beating in Murton's chest.
  8. Wrong. Computers don't play baseball. 0% statistics.
  9. Game 37.
  10. I hope Adam Dunn hits another homer this inning.
  11. Computers don't play baseball.
  12. If it's going to be an ERA-based stat, it should be a defense independent stat.
  13. Cedeno's projected line from the 06 spreadsheet was .274/.320/.387. So it was a bit optimistic, but not tremendously.
  14. Fine, that's your opinion. No, it's basically fact. ERA in and of itself is not a good predictor of future success.
  15. Attack the post and not the poster, please.
  16. That's uh... an interesting plate appearance. I guess the umps are feeling creative today?
  17. Z would have broken the bat against his cup.
  18. I don't think it's a given that this means Johnson is out of a job, even though that's what articles have been suggesting. I think that, as you suggested, it's more a move for depth than replacing DJ directly.
  19. Looking at the terms, it doesn't actually seem like an especially bad deal. He won't make more than 10 million a year until 2010, and there's a 2011 option for 11 or 13 depending on innings thrown. Even if he regresses to a completely average pitcher, his contract isn't so bad that he can't be traded.
  20. It's true that DJ wasn't any good in the bigs last year, but he was fine in '05 and great in his time in AAA in '05 and '06. Given the choice between Stewart/Swisher or Swisher/DJ at LF/1B, I think the latter is likely to be significantly more productive.
  21. Jay Payton pt. II? Whatever. I hope this guy doesn't keep DJ from getting another shot at the first base job.
  22. Felix Pie is enigmatic?
  23. What's that going to look like? They're both lefties.
  24. That's not too bad. At least it's only one year.
