Those numbers do not even come close to what Theriot did in 2007. Just check the translations: Ronny C put up a .286 EqA compared to Theriot's awful .238. Cedeno was clearly better.

    According to BPs translations, Felix Pie put up a .287 EqA this season in Triple A. The previous two seasons it was .273 and .261.

    Well, Roberts did VORP 8 runs higher than Hill last year, but as others have pointed out, we've got DeRosa and a few other options at second. The drop from Hill and the next starter is almost certainly greater than the difference between Roberts and the Cobs current options. I'm not really confident that Jim Hendry understands that, though.

    Dubois was traded to the Indians for Jody Gerut. He may have ended up in Baltimore, but he definitely went to Cleveland from Chicago.

    I think his injury history is a much bigger roadblock than his character issues. It seems like this guy's never healthy.

    But his adjusted for all time EqA is .305. You need to use the all time version if you're going to make comparisons across leagues.

    You're right, this may not actually be news. The Cobs have been reported as the frontrunner for a while now, and this could just be the reporter phrasing that common belief in kind of an awkward way.
