  1. I wonder why they don't just straight up auction the tickets.
  2. Plus/Minus has him at a staggering -40 at CF last year. Here's John Dewan's wall of unformatted text regarding him:
  3. John Dewan's plus/minus stats in CF the past three seasons: 2006 +8 (1016 innings) 2007 -1 (56 innings) 2008 -7 (720 innings) He was also a +6 in 519 innings in LF in 2007. I don't know what he looks like in UZR, but it's definitely not unanimous that he's a great defender.
  4. Would Fedor vs Lesnar result in another 30 second fight for the Last Emperor?
  5. You're right. I'll concede Mauer, too.
  6. Out of this group, only Sizemore really has an argument unless you completely discount position.
  7. Probably Cust. Per my original post, I had Holliday at one corner, Sweeney in center, Barton at first and Buck, Cunningham and Cust in the running for the other corner OF and DH. I just didn't mention DH specifically. Sorry about the confusion. I don't really like Ryan Sweeney as a hitter all that much, but looking him up, he's younger than I thought. Sweeney's probably a better bet to produce next year than Cunningham, although I think Cunningham might still have a brighter future.
  8. You forgot DH. Sweeney starts in CF, Buck starts in right, Cust is full-time DH, Barton starts at 1B, Cunningham is the 4th OF. A's still have Davis, Murton and Denorfia too. Not sure, but its possible none of those guys have options left. I actually did not forget DH. I think using Cunningham as a 4th OF is a misuse of reasonably well-regarded prospect, especially when you have a guy like Sweeney in your starting lineup. That is why I don't care for this solution so much.
  9. I'm having some trouble picturing the A's corner situation if this happens. With Gonzalez in Colorado, you've gotta figure that Sweeney becomes the new centerfielder. Holliday has one corner outfield position, and then you have Aaron Cunningham, Travis Buck, Jack Cust and Daric Barton to play somewhere. Assuming you're still willing to give Barton a shot at first, you still have three people in the running for two lineup slots. Although, if you think one of Cunningham or Buck can handle center instead of Sweeney it makes a lot more sense. I don't know.
  10. Guys, on a tangentially related topic, I believe I may have uncovered Len Kasper's secret identity.
  11. I would, seeing as how Griffey can't hit anymore.
  12. VORP: 1. Tim Lincecum 53.9 2. Johan Santana 49.1 3. Brandon Webb 48.6 4. Dan Haren 47.3 5. Ryan Dempster 44.6
  13. Truffle is like a Meph that doesn't actually contribute anything.
  14. i'd guess it was because barrett was substantially better at baseball. though i'm guessing miller was really nice to you or something. Nice to her... Wait... Holy Cow! Did Red Ivy previously work for the Cobs or something?
  15. ... I still don't know what you mean.
  16. I actually find that kind of depressing.
  17. WRONG. Surely someone must know the correct answer. Perhaps someone who just happens to be lounging about?
  18. He'd be a good fit for the Rangers, but they may not be interested considering they aren't in contention. After the Cobs trade Lee and move Soriano to first, they could sign Hatteberg to play left.
  19. The Reds should trade Joey Votto and move Patterson to first in order to make room for Bruce.
  20. How about a stud right fielder with a .295 EqA?
  21. I'm not sure you understand Truffle's argument, TT. Look it's very simple: Cedeno is a complete and total bust. He's a failure as a ballplayer and as a human being. Whatever he's doing right now is a fleeting illusion, an artifact of a small sample size. His 2006 performance at age 23 proves he should never be a starter at any level of baseball, be it majors, minors, church-league softball or video game. The fact that you want to bench an .893 OPS for something that is barely a form of life just proves how illogical you are and invalidates your argument better than Truffle ever could. I hope this clears things up.
  22. This probably means that Pie has definitely lost his job, at least for the time being, and that Lou finally realized picking Fontenot's bat over Murton's isn't a good idea.
  23. I'm glad we're all finally on the same page, here.
