  1. Giles had 140 more plate appearances to basically create the same amount of runs. It's interesting to see that kind of discrepency between EQA and VORP like that. Anyone know who at BP would answer a question about this sort of situation?
  2. The Cobs scouts must be psychic, then. Jones experienced a huge BABIP spike and Giles a large dip.
  3. I admit I'm kind of surprised to see that. I still prefer him to Soriano, though.
  4. I think Patterson probably has a chance of being a better second baseman that DeRosa in 2007.
  5. I'm pretty sure that was intentional.
  6. Kent works in mysterious ways. It's true that the Cobs have yet to win another World Serious, however this offseason they have taken great steps toward ridding themselves of a harmful management team. Perhaps this is a case of Kent teaching the Cobs to win a baseball championship, instead of just giving them one.
  7. That's a great idea. Hmm... Perhaps GMs are hesitant to offer Mercker contracts because they fear for their own job security.
  8. What does any of that have to do with a moratorium on Dunn threads? Or was that your word of the day?
  9. You missed my point, so I guess I'll spell it out more carefully: You don't have to read the thread.
  10. The thread was clearly titled. You weren't tricked into opening and reading it by any kind of legerdemain.
  11. Another stupid move by Krivsky. The question now is whether Hendry is actually smart enough to offer a better deal.
  12. I'm sure you intended for this post to have a point, but it did not come across as such.
  13. He has no-trade protection. It's possible that he might agree to a trade later on if the Cobs aren't especially competitive, but I doubt teams would be all that interested. I don't expect Soriano to be worth his contract in dollars or years. What if we spread some rumors about him leaving early? That pique your interest? Hmm... We might be able to work something out. Tell me, are you in the market for a fragile middle-infielder coming off a career year?
  14. Uhh... Are you joking?

  16. ESPN lists team batting stats. There's a dropdown menu there that lets you select various splits, and you can select positions to get the production from various positions.
  17. So, why do people always bring up the postseason when talking about MVP? I'm just trying to make a point that even people who like baseball the stupid way can understand.
  18. Pujols helped carry his team to a World Series victory. What did Howard do that could make him for valuable to his team than Pujols?
  19. Pujols was robbed. He was clearly the better overall player last year.
  20. Not that it hasn't been said already, but that was amazing.
  21. It's not used as a predictor of success as much as it's used to spot fluky seasons. I'm sure this has been mentioned in the thread before now.
