    Giles had 140 more plate appearances to basically create the same amount of runs. It's interesting to see that kind of discrepency between EQA and VORP like that. Anyone know who at BP would answer a question about this sort of situation?

    The Cobs scouts must be psychic, then. Jones experienced a huge BABIP spike and Giles a large dip.

    Kent works in mysterious ways. It's true that the Cobs have yet to win another World Serious, however this offseason they have taken great steps toward ridding themselves of a harmful management team. Perhaps this is a case of Kent teaching the Cobs to win a baseball championship, instead of just giving them one.

    He has no-trade protection. It's possible that he might agree to a trade later on if the Cobs aren't especially competitive, but I doubt teams would be all that interested. I don't expect Soriano to be worth his contract in dollars or years. What if we spread some rumors about him leaving early? That pique your interest? Hmm... We might be able to work something out. Tell me, are you in the market for a fragile middle-infielder coming off a career year?

    ESPN lists team batting stats. There's a dropdown menu there that lets you select various splits, and you can select positions to get the production from various positions.

    It's not used as a predictor of success as much as it's used to spot fluky seasons. I'm sure this has been mentioned in the thread before now.
